AUTOVEST, the Durban-based supplier of aftermarket automotive accessories approved by original equipment manufacturers, has acquired vehicle protection company Auto Armor.
The value of the transaction, which is effective from next month, was not disclosed.
Auto Armor offers the fitment of safety film and window tinting products for “smash and grab” automotive glass protection and it supplies automotive exterior paint protection, interior fabric and leather protection, auto valet services, and a wash bay service to the car dealerships.
Autovest chief executive Ted Waldburger said yesterday that Auto Armor was highly regarded in the industry, and would complement Autovest’s existing product range.
“We are extremely excited about this acquisition,” he said.
Autovest was established in 2007 by Waldburger, a former chief executive of then listed T&N Holdings; Kevin White, a former director at GUD Holdings; Collins Private Equity and Nedbank Private Equity. It is the holding company for a group of automotive-focused businesses.

Just search for the car part you are looking for from the website's search box and you will get the list of suppliers. You can send them free trade inquiry.

Jan 27, 2009 by Sam S | Posted in Car Audio
I would like to learn more about automotive wiring, but I can't find too much good info on the basics...i.e. best practices, safety, how to work with wiring harnesses, best wire access, general auto circuitry, proper wire splicing and installation of accessories, general tips and tricks, etc. etc. All the basic stuff you need to know. Anyonw know a good book or website?

I believe you can get some books, and things of that nature to help you learn the basics of installing. I just learned it by installing my own system, and helping some friends with theirs.

The turn signal, invented by Florence Lawrence, an actress, who also came up with the idea for a device to indicate when a vehicle's driver had decided to stop, a forefunner of brake lights. She never patented either concept, but then again, neither did my father, who designed a system of childproof door locks in the 1950's. Nonetheless, he bought the first car he saw that had a similar system, a 1963 Corvair, and was thrilled that they kept us imprisoned in the back seat.
I can see that most posters have pretty sexist ideas about women and cars. Some ladies do know more than a little bit about how they operate.
