The vehicle is a 1995 Ford Explorer XLT.
My old car stereo had a serious glitch - it couldn't be turned off, so the power antenna was always up. It eventually fell victim to an automatic car wash. I've replaced the stereo, but would prefer to install a fixed antenna.
How difficult is it going to be to replace the power antenna equipment with a fixed antenna? Can I just unbolt the equipment that's there and bolt in the new?
Should be very straightforward. unbolt the old power antenna, disconnect the power and antenna cables and remove.Bolt in the new antenna and connect the cable.
Just make sure when you byu the new antenna that it has the same style and size of fixing to the car as the old one.

Find a fixed antenna that will fit in the hole and sufficiently cover it up. Use adapters, washers, whatever, to tighten it up from underneath.
