There could be several, petrochemicals are the general name for the additives that are not very good. However if the cleaner is a spray in the past they would use CFC based propellants were bad for the ozone layer but they have been outlawed for several years.
Benzine can some times turn up in waxes and high exposure to this can cause cancer.

imo 8 and hour if they are a busy shop and need a extra hand.

If there is a small amount of dirt on the exterior of a car, can that area be cleaned with an all-purpose household cleaner instead of washing the entire vehicle again, or will those cleaners ruin the car's finish?
Not a good idea. If the cleaners don't harm the paint / clear coat it will definatley take any protective coating such as wax and polish off the paint. Purchase some dedicated automotive washes and polishes. They're cheap and will provide a much better result than dish soap. Also many car washes are a wash / wax. While nothing can beat a true wax or polish for lustre and shine, the dual action wash/wax will at least leave some protection for your paint from the elements.
Also if you have stubborn grime, you can always find a bug and tar remover around the wash area of most parts stores. Use wisely and don't let them set on the paint too long!

not advisable to use household cleaners. Pick up a spray bottle of Mothers detail spray and use that for your inbetween cleanups

Most are too harsh for the clear coat, but you can spot clean with a regular car soap without cleaning the whole car.

I have found that cleaners leave a film behind as they are mostly oil based & only seem to push the grease around. The only thing I've found that dose the trick is a chemical which is now illegal in this country, apart from that its was highly poisonous. There must be something out there !

I am wondering whether or not it is necessary to use fuel additives such as fuel injector and system cleaners every so often on a car. My husband says it is never necessary. Any thoughts?
I do it periodically. When I worked in a shop, I saw using some additives "smooth out" some idling problems. Particularly in vehicles with throttle body injection.
