RHINELANDER - From drinking water, to daily household water use, when heat waves strike everything needs more water.
Last spring, the U.S. Geologic Survey warned the Great Lakes region could experience water shortages due to increased water use and changes in our climate.
Changes Greg Zeske, Culligan Driver, has seen first hand this past week. "We have noticed a lot, and an increase in water consumption. Especially the businesses, we'll drop off extra just for the fact that they are going through it so quick."
The water is flowing out so fast that Zeske sometimes needs a bigger truck. "Most of the time I go back empty. I have a larger truck, a big diesel that I drive, and it carries anywhere from 160 bottles."
Kass Schoppe owns Culligan Water in Rhinelander and says it's hard keeping up with the demand. "The normal amount that they go through in a month is almost doubled with this heat."
The Resource Center's Vehicle Detailing Shop will hold a car wash Saturday with proceeds benefiting the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve's Toys for Tots drive in Chautauqua County.
The car wash will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the parking lot in front of Wal-Mart and the Dollar Tree on Fairmount Avenue in Lakewood. There is no charge for the car wash, but donations of cash or unused toys will be accepted. Hot dogs and bottled water will be available for $1 each.
The Resource Center has coordinated the Toys for Tots drive in Chautauqua County since 2001. In 2010, thanks to donations from area residents and businesses, the drive provided toys to 2,589 children from 986 families.
The Resource Center's Employment Services Department started a Vehicle Detailing Shop in 2010 as a new business venture to offer an opportunity for people with disabilities to become employed. Many people had expressed that this type of work was of interest to them. The Resource Center has a fleet of more than 100 vehicles, so it was thought the shop would be a good opportunity for people to gain skills and earn a paycheck.

How often should you get a car wash and a car detail?
Aug 10, 2007 by paulchullee | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
By car wash and detail I mean:
Car wash - Water, soap, rinse, dry the exterior
Detail - Go to a professional auto detailer and let them do all the buffing, waxing, washing, etc.
I mean car wash as go to an automated car wash at a gas station.
it depends..In the summer I wash my car about every other week. I would recommend getting detailed in the beginning of the spring..so you'll be ready for the summer and just wash the car when it needs washing, every other week or so.
Detail when needed every 6 months

This is probably going to vary depending upon local conditions, how often you drive, what kind of wear and tear the interior takes, etc. If you don't drive in harsh conditions and you're not toting snacking munching kids with juice boxes, detailing a few times a year is probably fine.

not having a shop or a NAME FOR YOURSELF , i would say $30 a shop charges more but have insurance , and a reputation to go on , they also have more overhead to cover
jon_wayne89 | Aug 02, 2007
$20-30 dollars.. idk? depends how good you are i guess.. tires, good wax job, vacuum inside and wipe down.. maybe even $50 for people.. but i wouldn't pay anything just because i do it myself and actually enjoy it haha.
ThEuSeD | Jul 25, 2007
done right it at least $80 but the people that are willing to pay to have it done will not let a kid touch there cars, I know i would not let a kid anywhere near my car with a buffer. it only takes a half a second to burn a paint job. and if that happens who is going to take care of it.
Sorry to sound like a jerk but liability is something to think about

Depends where you live. Inside and outside detail could cost $150. in my neck of the woods. So $ 75 would be reasonable for a complete detail including the engine.

Get estimates from detail shops and work from there.

here are the prices we charge...69 for out side wash vacuum inside, wash windows clean inside panels cupholders and apply dressing to tires, dash board and any other plastic and vinyl...pet hair all over the place add 30 more to shampoo carpets seats and deodorizer ....waxing with a buffer 2 hours another sixty includes rainx on outside windows...your biggest investment should be a powerfull wet dry vacuum

Oct 27, 2008 by kayi | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
just polish and waxed my car, i think i will do one more time couple month later, but i want my car in maxium shine
can i use detail spray polish everyweek after car wash? to keep the paint shine????
Yes, Meguiar's Quick Detailer is probably your best choice. You can wipe on, wipe off, anytime you like and the car will look freshly washed and waxed. It's good stuff and takes no time to apply.
