Reward to catch Blackburn car wash vandals
A CAR wash manager is offering a £500 reward to anybody who can help find the person who caused £2,000 of damage to his Blackburn business.
Awat Peerot, who runs Express Hand Car Wash, in King Street, said six advertising signs had been vandalised, causing him to lose trade as people did not know the car wash was there.
The car wash had only recently opened and Mr Peerot said it had been very successful until this setback.
He said: “I am really upset - nobody knows it is a car wash now so we are not getting as many cars in. People think we have closed down and we are losing money.”
Mr Peerot said that when the signs were displayed, he would carry out between 20 and 30 mini valets on an average day.
But since they had to be taken down, the team only washes around four or five cars each day.
He said: “It is only regulars now, we get no passing trade.
“When we opened we did very well - we do a proper job and people are happy.”
Coachworks Car Wash
Bee Cave business wants to be a destination instead of a choreCoachworks Car Wash owner Gary Domel is trying to scrub away any negative connotations of going to a car wash.
While most people think of going to a car wash as a chore, Domel said he wants Coachworks to be something people look forward to and enjoy.
Coachworks looks more like a filling station and barn than a traditional car wash. While it was originally planned to just be a car wash, it has grown to include a lube center, inspection and detailing services.
“I don’t want to be seen as a car wash,” he said. “I want to be seen as a destination.”
As part of the effort to become a destination, Coachworks sells adult beverages and soft drinks, has a barbershop, Bee Cave Barber, and operates a shuttle that can drop off and pick up customers from somewhere nearby while their car is worked on. The Coachworks lobby has a wide-screen TV, comfortable chairs and free Wi-Fi.
Chris Domel, Domel’s son and the general manager of Coachworks, said the goal is for people to enjoy their time at Coachworks.
