Cars arrive at a one-bay car wash facility the interarrival time is exponential, with a mean of 10?
Oct 26, 2009 by susan | Posted in Other - Cars & Transportation
Cars arrive at a one-bay car wash facility the inter arrival time is exponential, with a mean of 10
minutes. Arriving cars line up in a single lane can accommodate at most five waiting cars. If the
lane is full, newly arriving cars will go elsewhere. It takes between 10 and 15 minutes, uniformly
distributed, to wash a car. Simulate the system for 960 minutes, and estimate the time a car spends
in the facility?
If it takes ten minutes to wash a car, and cars arrive at a mean of ten-minute intervals, the car being washed will be pulling out as the next car is pulling in. This means, in an hour, 6 cars can pass through. 960 minutes equals 16 hours; therefore, in 16 hours, 96 cars can be washed.

In Los Angeles, is there a car wash facility where I can HAND WASH my car? Not with spray nozzles....?
May 07, 2006 by David G | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
I don't like to use the coin-operated spray-nozzle car washes that are on every block. I prefer to hand wash my car, with my hands, my own towels, my own soap, then wax it with my own stuff. I just want to use someone else's water hook-up because I can't wash my car at my apartment complex.
I have seen some facilities that have either the spray gun OR a soft brush on a pole that squirts soap suds while cleaning the car. You can then rinse with the spray gun, or
just use the gun to wet and rinse. WHATEVER way you want to go.

What is the best way to wash the car and keep it clean?
Nov 20, 2008 by VisionQuest | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
What to use; special car wash, do it yourself- facility? Soap and water and car polish? My car always seems to attract all dirt right after it has been washed.
i use amor-all wash n wax. it does all right, and it gives you a nice shine. get some towels and hand dry so it doesnt leave water spots. use tire foam on the tires and wheel cleaner.
its hard to keep one clean for over a week, if u have a black or white car. mine is white so i know. i usually wash a little dirt off by spraying with a water hose once in awhile.

the best way is to wash it then park it. the reason it attracts dirt and dust is that everything is built of atoms. metal has atoms with an excess of negative molecules. dirt and dust have positive molecule excess. they attract. so when you wash away the dirt you cause your car to become negatively charged attracting positively charged dirt, like a magnet

Anyone know of any Self-service Car Wash facilities or gas stations with self-wash machines in or near New York City? Thanks.
NO. I lived in NYC since 1972. No such thing.
Good Luck.

Anyone know the cost of replacing a Vauxhall corsa motor for the scren wash?
Jan 19, 2010 by denise t | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
The screen wash facility on my Vauxhall Corsa car got frozen and didn't work over Christmas, I thought once it had thawed it would work but it didn't. the mechanic at the garage told me this morning that the it was the motor that had gone in the screen wash (he didn't even check it) and it would cost over £200 to replace plus vat and labour charges, is this a fair price, anyone know before I book it in for repair. Thanks to anyone who may know.
Loads of places like Motosave will stock the pump, and you can buy new ones from ebay. Souldn't be any more than £20. For £18 more, get a Haynes manual and that will show you how to do it. :)
