car washing?

me and my friend wants to start doing car washing this summer to get some money and we were wondering if we would need to get a licence to do this and also how much do you think we should charge people for washing their cars?
we live in england
in the UK i'm not sure, but I don't think you'd need a license to do this. it'd be like telling children they had to get a license to sell lemonade lol.
Make sure you know what you're doing though,
keep your work smart, and fun, but don't screw things up.
watch out for rocks and stuff in the sponges and rags that can end up scratching paint.
I did a detailing business in my back yard over the summer,
got $99 per car, cleaned inside, outside, shampoo'd carpet, cleaned rims, tires, and for an extra $20 i'd clean the entire engine bay till it shined.
made almost $6000 that summer.

I'm not sure about the licencing requirements in the UK, but I would charge about $5.00 or the equivalent.

I dont think you need a licence and you should charge about £2.50 a car. I think with that price you should get loads of cars to wash LOL

So you want to be a "Mobile" detailer? Yes there is money in it if you are setup to do so, & may depend on how many other people in your area are doing it. Keep in mind, you gotta sell the idea to people-advertise it, do your research so you know what your gettin yourself into, it won't get built in a day. Build a good reputation, & don't get lazy once you start makin a profit. & by the way, it is very hard work. I have a very successful detail shop. Good Luck to you!!

Car Washing?
Nov 28, 2007 by cbroadfield33 | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
It costs me 28.00 to wash my truck at a car wash If I just get the outside washed it's 21.00. I want to go back to washing it myself even though the only place to clean it is on a rock paved alley. I was going to get the Mr clean auto dry kit but does anyone have there own particular way they find is the best way? What tools do you suggest to make things easier? I know it's not rocket science to wash a car but I have a feeling everyone has there own unique preferences. Happy Holidays!!! this will help me with my xmas grab bags.
The Mr Clean auto dry works well. Use a soap designed for use on cars. Dish soaps and laundry soaps will take off any wax that may be on your cars finish. Also, use a product like Meguiars Quik Detailer after you dry the car to remove any water spots. It will also leave a nice shine.

My sister-in-law and her daughter both have the Mr. Clean auto dry kit, and they say that it works fabulously!!
Personally, for me, I prefer the old hose and bucket method. I like knowing that I got every stuck-on spot clean. Bird poop is especially hard to get off when it's been caked on your car all week.

What car washing products should I buy for a brand new black Civic Si?
Feb 10, 2009 by Allison | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
My boyfriend just bought his first new car, a black Honda Civic Si. He really loves taking care of his car and since his birthday along with nice weather is just around the corner, I wanted to get him a nice complete set of car washing products. Can anyone tell me what I should get him? I'm completely clueless!
As far as washing products, all of them are about the same soap wise, but if he wants it to really shine, tell him to get Turtle Wax Express shine. It is great and requires no hard rubbing and buffing. I used to have a 2003 Impala and it gleamed.

What kind of soap should be used for car washing?
Aug 14, 2006 by theycallmecool | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
Specific car washing soap can get really expensive, so are there any other alternatives? Hand washing soap? Dish washing soap?
dont use either, they will scratch the paint. get a quality soap for cars, wash often and wax often. if you keep a good wax job on the vehicle it will clean easier so you will use less soap. i also used a spray on detailer (mcguires) inbetween washes, i would rinse it off and use the detailer to finish cleaning. it helps
