Washing a car may sound like child’s play, but here are a few pointers to help avoid telltale signs of a novice wash job.
Start with a good-quality car wash mitt. Unlike old T-shirts, towels and rags, mitts hold lots of water and help pull dirt away from the car surface, reducing the risk of scratches and swirl marks. Dish soap is for dishes, not for cars. Dish soap will strip the vehicle’s wax finish and dry out rubber seals and plastic moldings. Splurge a little and buy a good quality car wash shampoo. Use a garden hose with a gentle spray or a free flow nozzle. High pressure nozzles tend to embed dirt into the car’s surface. Fill two 5-gallon buckets — one with just water and the other with a water/shampoo mixture. Use the bucket of clean water to rinse the car wash mitt between scrubbings. Wash the car in a shady spot on a day with little or no wind. Begin by washing the wheel wells and tires before proceeding to the vehicle body. Wet the entire surface of the

What is the best polish and wax to use for my car?
Nov 29, 2009 by ♥Peek-A-Boo♥ | Posted in Other - Cars & Transportation
I have a 2006 Black Ford Fusion with clear coat paint, and I'm really thinking about polishing and waxing it myself or letting someone else do it. In your opinion, what is the best car polish and car wax?
haha
armor-all
too bad they dont even make polish
and they only 'wax' they have is a wash and wax..
1: wash car: hopefully you already know that this does
2. clay car -this removes contaminants stuck to the paint, that normal washing wont get off. You can also clay your windows/wheels etc. I suggest meguiars smooth surface clay kit.
3. Paint cleaners(aka polishes): These remove oxidation/scratches/stains/etc. They have no protection at all. Different strengths for different paints. I suggest starting with Meguiars Swirlx, and if needed, then step up to Meguiars ultimate compound. Apply in a 16x16 in. section with a microfiber applicator. Work it in for about a minute and wipe off immediately with microfiber towel. Inspect results, repeat or move up to a more aggressive product.
4. Pure Polish: These help the paint shine by adding oils to the paint. But do not add protection either. Work best on darker colors and cars with single stage paints. But can still work good on lighter colored cars. Its really optional, since the paint cleaners mentioned above have polishing oils in them. But if you have single stage paint, then definitely use it. Use meguiars deep crystal polish, or their #7 polish. Just kind of message them into the paint, in a 16x16 in. section for about 40 seconds. then wipe off immediately. These can be a real pain to remove.
5: wax: locks in polish, adds protection and shine. Apply using microfiber applicator and spread a thin even layer all over your car, not getting any on plastic/vinyl/pourous surfaces ( itll stain). Let it dry to a haze (usually 15 minutes) then wipe off with microfiber towel. Suggest meguiars nxt 2.0 tech wax or their gold class wax.

Armor All. Yup they are they best brand to ever use on any car. Since your using a sportsy car. Look at their website. I believe wax is the better product then having to polish because polishing is just removing small scratches, rust and such while wax provides a protective shield. http://www.armorall.com/products/view_pr oduct.php?product_id=20&main_group=0 &category_index=wash_wax

What is the best type of Car Wax/Polish and Alloy Wheel Cleaner?
May 21, 2007 by Tony L | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
The best wax you can get is Zymol. PERIOD. as for aloy wheel cleaner, nothing can beat a bucket of soap, and water, with a smaller soft brush. The spray stuff just does not work all that well and you wind up having to scrub it to get any residue off anyway.

What is a good line of car wax or polish to make my car very very shiny?
Feb 24, 2009 by Alex T | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
Im looking to wax my car and get a very good shine like at the auto show. Their cars are always soo shiny. Does anyone know what a good brand of wax or polish I could buy? I have a buffer. What would be a good process to do. Buff then wax? Thanks
Read through this FAQ on my website first.

Basically, you should wash, clay, polish and then wax.
The SYSTEM ONE Pro Kit is a great way to get a pad, polish and everything you need to get started polishing. Then throw some GuruWax on there and you'll be blown away with the shine!
Oh yeah, don't forget to use good, high-quality microfiber towels so you don't end up re-scratching up your car with crappy towels.

Turtle Wax Ice Liquid car polish. No white residue around trim, seams, or black plastic parts or trim. It is also more forgiving for temperature ranges during application. It can be applied in direct sunlight or in cooler weather. It goes on and wipes off easy so you will be more likely to polish more often. Apply with the included applicator and wipe off with a clean micro fiber cloth.
For in between cleaning I use Turtle Wax Ice Spray Detailer. I just spray on an area and wipe off with a clean micro fiber cloth.
I also like the Turtle Wax Ice interior cleaner. It does a very nice job.
Currently I use Turtle Wax Zip Wax car soap to clean my cars. It leaves a light coat of wax each time I wash. I plan to try the Turtle Wax Ice Car soap when this runs out because I like their other products so much.

How into this do you really want to get? There are a plethora of articles and product reviews over at Autopia. I suggest doing some serious research there.

You can do it so. You can choose 3M MMM5974 Rubbing Compound or foam polish pad. Or you can check or choose from this site i will give you. Hope it helps.

How to polish a car using Meguiar products without leaving the round wax/polish signs?
Jun 30, 2010 by gabi | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
My friend detailed his car and when its sunny outside you can see round marks, not damaged paint, just circles of wax/polish. Is it because he didn't use a foam pad at the end? Can someone explain a correct car polishing process using Meguiar products?

course it works best if you do everything in the shade
