What do you look for in a Mobile Auto Detailer?
Feb 21, 2007 by Baker's Mobile Auto Detailin | Posted in Other - Cars & Transportation
I'm a Mobile Auto Detailer. I come to you.
Check my site out at
www.myspace.com/bakersmobileautodetailing
What would inspire you to choose a mobile service over the standard tunnel car washes where you have to wait for your vehicle to be cleaned?
You would recieve a service based on attention, not time. High quality products will be used. A highly competent, trained, skilled and licensed Detailer will be working on your vehicle. A mobile setup where we provide all resources to get the job done the right way, without using yours.
What would you look for?

94 BMW 325i Passenger floor carwash flood while A/C and undercarriage wash running?
May 27, 2007 by Axel the AMD man | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
Just got the car and had it for less than 24 hours (almost 3 days now) Ran it throught the carwash on a hot day and have never heard of this happening. I ran the A/C because it was suffocatingly hot. The undercarriage wash hit and suddenly the windows got steamy and the car blew hot air. My wife shrieked and I looked to find there was water flowing in from behind the dash. We got to the end of the tunnel and I went to pull out but the car wouldn't move. "Oh great! They killed my car." The engine turned but the car would not start. I decided to let it dry for 2 hours with no progress. It sat overnight. Still nothing. So I unplugged the onboard computer, and it started up but died immediately. I tried again and this time held down the gas. It ran, but it ran super crappy. Throttle Position Sensor, O2 Sensor, Mass Airflow sensor, A knock in the engine, black smoke, Misfiring,(before being able to start it, and lots of electronical buzzing and the guages were freaking out). Any ideas?
Note: After I got the car running I plugged the on-board computer back in and it staued running, but it's acting like my Jetta did with a blown O2 Sensor. My guess is the main computer, guesses on what it's REALLY called, COST, and Should I bring the car back and declare lemon as we JUST bought the damn thing? or should I sue the car was for destroying my car? I'm so lost... when it comes to engine work, I can do it, but I REFUSE to get behind that dashboard. Beamer's genious idea to hide all the screws where possible to keep the consumer from tearing the car apart worked for me but I also don't wanna pay umpteen thousands of dollars to tell me what's wrong and fix it..... Also, Where might the computer be located behind the dash exactly? The book I got says next to the fuse box under the hood, but uh.... No. The picture shows it where the brake booster sits in my car. So I'm still left without a clue. Next to my ABS module somewhere? behind the stereo somewhere? that's where it soaked
Sorry for typing so much, but I figured all details would be relevant. The spark plug pits had about a half inch of darkened oil in them. (Yes all six ports). The idle is about 5 - 700 rpm and it bounces like an old tractor. I don't know how many pistons are running that car, but it's not enough. The knocking is coming from the very front of the engine above the V-belt. I pressume this is where te timing chain is hiding. If I'm correct, my timing chain went, and I now have a blown head. I hope I'm wrong.
if u had alot of water behind the dash ur car is now a big piece, ur problems are being caused by the wiring, water has gotten in ur fuse box most likely, computer, etc..the only way to fix this is for the wiring to be replaced, sorry man but depending on where u bought it, i may go back to where ever u bought and demand a refund because u got screwed

The lower level of Geo Wash Bridge was supposed to connect to the IND subway at 168St. Any info about this?
Oct 27, 2006 by turkeytowncop | Posted in Commuting
The lower level of the GWB was supposed to connect with the local tracks of the IND 168 St station with a proposed median or subway line along NJ Route 4 to Paterson. There are tunnel headers for this north of the local tracks at this station that terminate there- today's "C" line. No one seems to know much about this proposed extension. It's something that I recalled when i read about the 75 anniversary of the bridge.
What would it have connected to in NJ - nothing - NJ did not build their connection and NY chose not to build a train track to nowhere.

What to do??? Car damage @ car wash?
Mar 27, 2009 by StickyGreenAlien | Posted in Other - Cars & Transportation
I went to an express car wash that is not completely automated – first, I would drive up the lane and 2 employees use the sponge on a stick to soap up the car. Then I drive onto the conveyor, which takes the car through the tunnel for the machine to clean, rinse and dry.
After I drove through the car wash, I stopped by the vacuum machines to clean the inside of my car. When I got out to inspect whether the car was clean, I saw that the red plastic covering on my third rear brake light (near the top of back window) was missing. I immediately notified one of the employees and she went around the premises to look for the missing piece with me. We were unable to find it then. But I was 100% sure that the light cover was there when I drove to the car wash, so I went to search one more time by myself. I found 2 pieces of the broken plastic covering inside the tunnel on the side near the exit, and the middle piece was missing. Kinda like this : <=/ /==>
I talked to the manager there, and he filled out an incident report. He took some pictures of the car and broken pieces that I retrieved. He told me to get an estimate and then to get back with him. I called the dealership, and found out that the plastic covering part alone was about $135, and the labor for installing it was going to be around $200. I faxed the manager the estimate and he said they will contact me in a few days. The thing is, my car’s warranty expired only 2 months ago and I don’t want to pay more than $300 out of my pocket.
What do you think I should do now?
The car is Mini Cooper, and there are no screws used. I as told it requires 2-3 hrs process with special heating tools.
the cars warranty would not cover that piece anyway

Cars paint job destroyed!!! Can auto insurence cover damage?
Jan 30, 2010 by Matt K | Posted in Other - Cars & Transportation
Ok I keep my car perfect. I usually never take it to a car was. I wash and wax myself its 3 years old and had zero scratches till today. I live in NY it snowed yesterday and is below zero here it was covered in road salt. once in a blue moon i take it through the car was. I decided to today big mistake. they dried it outside and all the water was already ice the entire car is scratched everywhere some really deep. Perfect pain is destroyed entire car. I tried to tell them what they did and they deny it. Trying to say they never dry it outside only in the tunnel. They did that but finished outside i witnessed them scratching it and some water was stuck frozen even after. I called my insurance company Progressive put a claim in. Do you think they will cover something like this. What are my other options. Please help i sick over this i worked 3 years off to keep my car perfect.
Try to deal it out of pocket, otherwise insurance rates will go up much more. You can check how quotes will change here - autoinsurance.maclenet.com
