GPS Claims 20th Win With Solid 61-37 Effort Against Baylor
21.05.12
The Baylor girls have a pretty good basketball team, but they aren't as good as GPS. Add the fact that senior Mary Ellen Williams, one of Baylor's leading scorers and certainly a difference-maker in most games, was sitting on the bench with an apparent broken foot and the visitors were certainly at a disadvantage even before the first basket was scored.
Playing before a near-capacity crowd, the Bruisers responded with a quick start. It was 10-0 before Amber Howard broke the ice for Baylor with a pair of free throws, but GPS added seven more points and had a 17-2 lead when the first quarter ended.
Baylor got the lead down to 11 points on two occasions in the second quarter, but the difference was 28-12 at intermission and it never got any closer.
"We didn't struggle early like we have in times past. We didn't always play well, but we played hard and I'm pleased with the effort," said GPS coach Susan Crownover.
"I'm sure it hurt them that Mary Ellen Williams was hurt and didn't play, but I was pleased with our defense. We tried a couple of different looks in the second half, but I told those girls that we were going to live and die by our defense.
Congress passes FAA bill that speeds switch to GPS, opens American skies to ...
21.05.12
The bill authorizes $63.4 billion for the Federal Aviation Administration over four years, including about $11 billion toward the air traffic system and its modernization. It accelerates the modernization program by setting a deadline of June 2015 for the FAA to develop new arrival procedures at the nation's 35 busiest airports so planes can land using the more-precise GPS navigation.
Instead of time-consuming, fuel-burning, stair-step descents, planes will be able to glide in more steeply with their engines idling. Planes will also be able to land and take off closer together and more frequently, even in poor weather, because pilots will know the precise location of other aircraft and obstacles on the ground. Fewer planes will be diverted.
Eventually, FAA officials want the airline industry and other aircraft operators to install onboard satellite technology that updates the location of planes every second instead of radar's every six to 12 seconds. That would enable pilots to tell not only the location of their plane, but other planes equipped with the new technology as well — something they can't do now.

What is the best GPS Navigation system I can buy for my vehicle with 500 dollars?

My job has issused me a $500 dollar voucher to buy the best GPS I can find, any suggestions?
I just brought a Garmin 750 GPS for $378.00 at Walmart right now, and it is the lowest prices that you can find at this moment. I love it so far, however, I only have for a week. But that is the best brand name out there.

Garmin makes really good navigation systems. They are easily updated and have a lot of new technology built into them. I believe one of their models has live traffic updating as well, so it will give you fastest way based on how traffic is at that exact moment.

Definitely go with a Garmin Nuvi -- they are the industry leader, and the company is run very well (i.e., aggressively and proactively) so they will be a big player for the foreseeable future -- which means support and (most importantly) map updates for you and your company for a while.
According to a Garmin "price trends" site I found, every model of Garmin's Nuvi line is available for under $500 except three:
Of the ones available in your price range, it's not as easy as "best" -- it's more a matter of picking and choosing what features are important to you.
The Nuvi 780 ($480 at the time of writing) has a free 3-month trial subscription to MSN Direct, as well as most other features offered by Garmin. The Nuvi 680 has similar features but with a full 1-year trial subscription to MSN Direct.
As long as they're paying for it, I'd get the Nuvi 680 because it has lots of features, the 1-year MSN Direct deal, *and* a longer battery life -- 7 hours (the 700 series all have a 5-hour battery life).

What is the best GPS system to purchase?
Jun 04, 2007 by LFL | Posted in Car Audio
I travel alot and have an extremely poor sense of direction...this doesn't work out well.
I am looking into purchasing a GPS system for my car, does anyone have any that they really love [or really hate].
I am a highschool student who works hard, and this is a big purchase for me so I would really like to get the best for my money.
the garmin with the touch screen
it's pretty expensive but it has the bluetooth and fm connectivity and auto connect.
I love the one i used for 2 months. The battery is rechargable and the screen is HUGE. i think it's the nuvi and it is amazing. It can be programmed to avoid traffic and all that stuff.

The only GPS system I have used is the Garmin StreetPilot c580....I loved using it (it is my dads)...it gives you info on restaraunts, businesses, shops (food, shopping, schools, etc)...it has nearly 98% of all the businesses in you area (i would estimate)...when i used it over a 5 day period, all of the directions were correct and you can even choose you route based on speed limit, distance, and traffic...you can either select a business from their databank or manually enter an address...just my two cents

My dad is a trucker and he needs a gps. what is the best trucker gps out there?
Apr 18, 2008 by lazyboy4sure | Posted in Other - Cars & Transportation
My dad is on the road and needs to buy a gps system soon for his truck. He doesn't want to get the copilot 11 because he doesnt want to use a laptop. What would be the best gps to get with at least a 4.5 inch screen and under 700 dollars? He wants one with features such as truck routes and bridge heights. Is there one out there that would meet his needs?
Well, I bought my boyfriend a GPS, I got the TomTom XL S. That's for cars though, it has a lot of useful features but I wouldn't know about bridge heights or truck routes.
You do want to get a large screen and with "text-to-speak", which means the GPS will say the road names and not just "left turn in 300 ft". They usually don't butcher the names too badly. You also want wide-screen, the small screens are really small!
The one I got was $400 so it should be easy for you to find something under $700.
