42-inch Apple TV with iSight, iOS, iCloud Integration coming to Best Buy for ...
21.05.12
Best Buy recently caused quite a stir when it polled customers to find out how successful a 42-inch Apple HDTV set with a price tag of $1500, that could be controlled by your iPhone or iPad, would be ...hypothetically, of course.
The intriguing survey, uncovered by The Verge , included other very specific details on features for Apple's expected 'iTV'.
Asked by tech journalists whether the retail chain had inside information about the secret Apple project, Best Buy officials strongly denied the suggestion. "The customer survey was a routine offer effectiveness survey conducted by one of Best Buy's research partners. Any brand reference was hypothetical. The survey is no longer available," a Best Buy representative explained.
However, the fact remains that the survey was very detailed on the technical specifications of the "hypothetical" Apple TV. And yes, Apple brand was specifically mentioned, as the document read "Apple finally reinvents what a TV can do."
The email I received this morning advertised a 2/8 midnight sale to start at 12 ET / 9 PT. I have been in the market for a new ipod dock and new computer monitor, so I thought I would stay up to see what was offered. I jumped on the site around 11:10 central time (12:10 ET) and kept getting the same preview page as I had seen earlier in the day with the email blast.
By 12;25 ET, I decided to call customer service and see what the problem was and maybe to just get some information on what products were indeed on sale. 3 customer service reps and 20 minutes later, I was finally told that, although the email clearly stated 12 ET, the sale was not actually starting for those in the central time zone until 12 Central. I thought that strange, but by this time it was already 11:45, and so I decided to wait 15 more minutes. Well at 12:15 central time, there was still no change to the sale's website page - still only listing a preview to the upcoming sale.
Again I called customer no service and was told the wait time would be less than 10 minutes. 18 minutes later, my call was answered - I was promptly put on hold and then eventually was disconnected while being transferred.

What to say to bestbuy to return radar detector?
Oct 30, 2008 by Kevin | Posted in Car Audio
I bought a radar detector from Bestbuy and I dont want it anymore since I have yet to see anycops radaring/lasering and there really is no need for it /want anymore. I only got it like 6 days ago but what can I say that will let me get my money back can i say i did not like the display or what?
Here's the relevant sections of the return policy, posted on Best Buy's web site:
14-day return period
We accept returns or exchanges 14 days from the original purchase on computers, monitors, notebook computers, projectors, camcorders, digital cameras, radar detectors and video games purchased as used.
Restocking fee
A restocking fee of 15% will be charged on opened notebook computers, projectors, camcorders, digital cameras, radar detectors, GPS navigation and in-car video systems unless defective or prohibited by law. A restocking fee of 25% will be charged on Special Order Products, including appliances unless defective or prohibited by law.
You're within the 14-day return policy, but if you opened and used the radar detector, you won't get a full refund because of the 15% fee.

You don't have to tell them anything. As long as you have the receipt you can return it after only 6 days. No explanation required - just tell them that there's nothing "wrong" with it (meaning it works properly) when you return it so they can re-sell it to someone else as an open-box item.

If I remember correctly, BB will not take radar detectors back. The store policy is that you cannot return radar detectors at all.
The only way you will be able to return it is if you can somehow convince a manager to let you return it. Maybe someone on here can give you a good excuse but all you are going to really need is a manager willing to listen to your excuse and understand.
Good Luck!!!
Edit: Oh yes, kaeZoo is right. It is a 15% restocking fee but they do take it back.
I would talk to the manager to see if you can get this waived.

you dont have to give them a reason i have returned several items to bestbuy in the past. if they ask just tell them it was a gift for your brother and you didnt know he had one already. they really dont care.just make sure you have your receipt. or they might just try to give you store credit.

Has anyone every used bestbuy or CC to install car audio?
Aug 22, 2008 by malcolm c | Posted in Car Audio
I'm getting a new audio CD system for my car. Has anyone ever used bestbuy or Circuit City to install? If so, was the installation professional and adequate? If not where would be the best place to go to have it done professionally?
Well I think that Best Buy is WAY over priced for their products and installing, and most likely the people who do their installing aren't probably trained but Idk.
If you go to a ABC Warehouse they have good prices on there products and its free installation if you buy from them, they can also make you deals. I've taken a couple of vehicles there and they have installed cd players, and an amp and they've done a VERY nice job. At least the ABC Warehouse around me did a good job, but every place has different installers so Idk, the guy at this one was VERY good and knew what he was doing, and gave me a great deal.

They are hacks, seek out an independent car audio shop.
Heather B | Aug 22, 2008
yea, they are both professional, they use the same faceplates and wireing harnesses as the audio shops. plus they will guarentee their work and even put the factory radio back in for free if you ever sell your car. However, some small car audio shops will put your stereo in for less then $40 so check around first. check your yellow pages for local car audio shops.

When spending 800$ at BestBuy, how much will you need to spend in tax and on warranties?
Nov 21, 2007 by Mr. Smith | Posted in Car Audio
I'm spending 800$ at BestBuy and need to know how much the tax will be and how much they will force me to spend on warranties.
take your sales tax (i.e. it is 6% where i live) and multiply 800x1.06 (plug in what ever percentage sales tax your area has where 6 is) and that will get you sales tax, but i cant tell you how much the warranties will cost you, and they wont FORCE you to buy any warranties

sparky3489 | Nov 21, 2007

Where is the best place to get my viper smartstart (remote car starter) installed besides bestbuy?
Dec 29, 2009 by Vince C | Posted in Car Audio
I just got one of those new fancy viper smartstart for iphones and bestbuy says they'll install it for nothing below $160. I'm wondering if there is any other place that would install if for cheaper and that wouldn't have a long waiting list like Bestbuy. Thanks!

How much would bestbuy charge to install this system?
Dec 24, 2008 by midwest's finest | Posted in Car Audio
I have 2 12inch alpine type r's and 1000 alpine mrp at 2 ohms. a rockford fosgate 2.0 capacitor. How much would best buy charge to put to screw 2 12 inch subs to a box and ground it and hook all the wires, cables to everything and hook up up the capacitor.
Amp install: $99.99
Subs: each I think is $79.99 (not totally sure).
Plus amp install kit if you don't have one already.
Not sure about the capacitor price.
