Are EBC brakes good for a 05' 9-3 Linear?

I'm looking for good brakes/rotors for a Linear. Is it easy to do yourself? I've seek Akebono and EBC's come up a lot on various websites. I want something I can put on myself hopefully.

Yes, the EBC brakes are the standard ATE type like those found starting on the later 900s (and 9000s).

You remove the tormented spring clip, then the two dust covers and the pins that lie underneath them (need a hex key for those). Pull off the front pad holder of the caliper (be careful of the brake hose) and pull the old pads out. Use a C-clamp to push in the caliper piston, insert the new pads, put the pad holder back in place, grease the pins (use hitemp silicon grease), put them in, replace the dust covers, then reinstall the spring clip. Takes about 20 minutes.

If you are mechanically inclined, these instructions will get you through it. Otherwise, go and get a Chilton's manual to guide you through it step by step. You don't want to make errors here. Good luck.

anybody use ebc brakes on wrx?

anybody use ebc brakes? are they good?

Ebc suck for daily drivers. I would rock the Hawk HPS with some slotted rotors. The EBC are awesome for race cars but suck for daily drivers.

My buddy has the EBC red pads on the front of his and while they bite really good, they are so hard they are eating into the OEM rotors. He will now have to replace those too soon. I had Hawk HPS pads on my 02 WRX front and back and they were very good. If you have an 06/07 with 4 pots, I would just stick with OEM pads as they very good from the factory.

Should I get greenstuff EBC brake pads for a VL commodore?

I bought the standard OE pads made by EBC, after the salesman told me they were better than Bendix, but after reading a bit about them I think they might be the same, just imported and hard to sell. I want good pads because the ones i've got now squeal and fade.

go with HAWK's they are better than ebc, bendix, VL etc.
you can also find AKEBONO they are similar to hawk's in performance.

the pads are good but recommend you replace disc rotors to slotted ones no more squeal great stopping power . down side is abit more brake dust if you have mags. if your heavy on the brakes thus the fade try bendix ultimates with the slotted discs. I found they work great and no fade...

Squishy brake pedal after changing front brakes, how can I fix this?

I just changed the front brakes on my '01 Acura TL, but I've left the original pads on the rears and haven't bled the lines. My pedal feels squishy and when I start my car it can almost reach the floor before I give it a few pumps then it's fine again. Should I bleed the lines? Is there any other way to fix this without bleeding because I haven't done this before and I'm not sure how.

FYI I replaced the stock brakes with EBC brake pads.
Also, the efficacy of the braking system be compromised if I don't bleed them right away? I might not be able to do it for a few weeks.

SOMETIMES WHEN YOU CHANGE THE BRAKES ON YOUR CAR, THE FIRST TIME YOU PUSH THE PEDAL DOWN AFTER CHANGING THEM IT WILL GO ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. IT'S BECAUSE YOU COMPRESSED THE CALIPER IN WHEN YOU CHANGED THEM.IT TAKES A FEW PUMPS TO PUMP THEM BACK OUT.
IF IT STILL DOES IT AFTER THAT YOU GOTTA BLEED THE AIR OUT OF THEM. JUST GET YOUR BUDDY TO SIT IN THE CAR AND PUMP THE BRAKE PEDAL UNTIL IT'S TIGHT AND THEN HOLD IT TIGHT UNTIL YOU CRACK THE LINE.IF YOU GET AIR AND NO FLUID , REPEAT THE PROCESS UNTIL YOU GET NOTHING BUT FLUID.REPEAT FOR THE OTHER SIDE. USE A LINE WRENCH ON THE NUT ON THE BRAKE LINE WHERE IT GOES INTO YOUR CALIPER.
IF YOU STILL GOT A FUNKY PEDAL.CHANGE YOUR BACK BRAKES.YOU'D BE SUPRISED HOW THE BACK BRAKES AFFECT YOUR PEDAL, AND HOW YOUR CAR STOPS. EVEN THOUGH YOUR FRONT BRAKES DO MOST OF THE WORK.
GOOD LUCK!!

How long will the EBC green stuff brake pads last?

I'm planning to change my stock pads and go for the EBC green ones to enhance the braking performance,I want to know how long will they last(how many miles) and will they last longer than the stock?
my stock pads always last 15,000mile only.
I own peugeot 206 1.4 8v.

It depends on the car, the roads (hilly vs. flat, straight vs. curvy), your driving style (aggressive vs. relaxed, down-shifting vs. extensive use of the brakes), and how heavy the load the brakes have to stop (driver only, full vehicle, or full vehicle + towing a trailer).

Driving like a bat out of hell with a fully loaded car on hilly and curvy roads while towing a trailer will eat up your fuel and brakes like there's no tomorrow. Relaxed driving, an empty car, flat roads, and down-shifting instead of heavy braking can save both fuel and brake pads.

How long is the warranty on the EBC brake pads? 3 months, 1 year, 2 years, lifetime? The above points and the warranty length will give you an idea of how long the EBC pads should last you.

P.S.: Down-shift when taking long hills or mountain roads. It'll save a whole lot of brake pad and it may save your life. Continuously using your brakes for a long time and/or at high speeds will overheat your brakes. This can shorten your brake pad and rotor life. It can also shorten your life. Overheated brakes tend to lose effectiveness. You press harder on the brake pedal and the car slows down less and less, eventually leaving you at the wheel of a runaway car.
