Hawk HPS Brake Pad Squeal Squeak 1

Window is down in this clip. Here is my car after I installed the Hawk HPS brake pads. Brake Rotors were turned and cleaned. I followed in the bed ...

Hawk HPS Brake Pads with what type of rotors?

I am interested in purchasing Hawk HPS Brake Pads for my vehicle and I was wondering what brand of rotors to purchase as well.

These would be for the front only - the rear still has 60% left.

Would you recommend slotted or drilled rotors?

Thank you!

Never do drilled and slotted rotors becasue it just puts stress points and makes them more likely to crack and warp and $#!t. Go to NAPA and get some regular rotors

slotted rotors are petty good

Hawk HPS or EBC RedStuff what brake pad is better?

As long they are not organic they are both ok go for semi metallic.

My car is fwd if I just replace the front brake pads for now cause there worn will I be OK?

I ask this because im upgrading this v6 sports cars brake pads to Hawk HPS ones because I drive fast and go to track allot.
Since Im low on money this month can I wait on back brakes since there still plenty of meat on them.
thanks bob

"abolootly " & yeppers !

yes they will be fine

If your getting any brake pedal pulsation now due to warped front rotors, I'd bring the rotors into Pep Boys and see if they could be turned down (eight dollars each). Just do the front pads.

sure if you have pad there no need in fixxing whats not bad

Yeah, should be fine.(if it ain`t broke, don`t fix it!) If you have to keep replacing brake pads, sounds like you `drive on your brakes`

The rear brakes are secondary brakes. Also there used for the parking brake. I have changed the front and not the rear with no problems as long as there isnt any grinding noises going on.

Brake pad replacement question?

Does anybody have any experience with the Hawk HP+ or Hawk HPS performance brake pads? I'm looking to switch the pads off of my 2003 M3 for autocross and am not quite sure whether to take the HPS or HP+. Does anyone have any recommendations?
In regards to the money issue, it is no problem for me. But I am just using this car for Solo I and Solo II racing. I won't be going past 3rd gear or 80kph but I will be needing to brake hard and fast.

I think the real issue here is wheather or not I should be using the STi. I've always loved the feel of a pure RWD sports car on a track, but I feel the suspension set up along with DCCD in the STi would be of a huge advantage over an M3. Anybody have anything to add onto that?

We build race cars for a living, and we use the Hawk brake pads on our Viper. Look at the temperature ratings for the pads you are talking about, and pick the lower of the two for autocross. In autocross, you don't get the chance to get the temp of the pads to peak perfomance until about midway thru a run. For longer courses, use the hotter of the two and make sure you warm them up on the way to the line, i.e. doing circles with lots of hard stop and goes. As for changing your whole brake system with a Brembo system, well, you can if you have deep pockets and want to throw your money out the door. The Brembo brakes are nice, especially for road racing, but for autocross???? Check out what the national champions of autox use, and you will usually see they use stock brake systems with aftermarket pads and air ducts. It is all about being smooth....slow in and fast out.
