The latest-generation Sante Fe was given a simultaneous North American introduction in Canada at the Vancouver International Auto Show, and in the United States at the New York International Auto Show.
The five-seat Santa Fe will be the first model released, with a new seven-seat version hitting showrooms later on in 2013.
Beyond the design language that Hyundai says is meant to break away from the staid styling of other crossovers, all Santa Fes will come standard with 17-inch alloy wheels, body-colour power mirrors, fog lamps, roof rack rails, and a rear spoiler.
Vehicles equipped with the 2.0-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder engine will get dual exhaust outlets and chrome door handles, with 19-inch wheels and side mirror turn signal repeaters available as options.
New York 2012: Mercedes-Benz Refreshes GLK-Class, Adds BlueTec Diesel Model
The smallest entry in the Mercedes-Benz SUV collection, the GLK-Class, is updated in several important ways for the 2013 model year. The revamped GLK debuts at the New York auto show with a new face, a smarter interior, and the promise of a thrifty turbodiesel engine.
The 2013 GLK-Class wears a new face that includes more aggressive chrome skid plates, revised headlights with LED running lights, LED taillights, redesigned wheels, and new exhaust tips. As a result, the SUV looks more like other new Mercedes vehicles. On the inside, dull square air vents give way to circular sculpted chrome designs, similar to those seen on the 2013 SL-Class roadsters.
There even is an optional Apple iPad dock for the rear seats — “So don’t be surprised if your passengers always want to sit in the back,” jokes Mercedes-Benz marketing executive Joachim Schmidt.
A new 3.5-liter V-6 engine produces 302 hp, up from 268 hp in 2012, and gains Mercedes ECO stop-start to help save fuel. From early next year, there also will be a GLK250 BlueTec model with a 2.1-liter turbodiesel inline-four good for 190 hp and 369 lb-ft. It should be the most economical version of the 2013 GLK by a large margin., and Schmidt says the BlueTec will “guarantee green driving fun” for GLK customers.
