The manufactorer of the intake does not really matter THAT much, the most you will see on an intake would be 20hp to 25 (at best). My intake from Chrome Intakes (off ebay) gave me around 18hp and much better throttle response, same with K&N, 20hp is the average. Enjoy your new intake! Remember to clean the filter once a month :)

It's probably only a 5% gain in horsepower and 2-3 mpg. It's not a significant increase.

If I get a full ehaust system, cold air intake, throttle body spacer and chip, will that imprive gas mileage?
Dec 05, 2008 by the dude | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
I have a 1993 F150 single cab, short bed, 2WD, 5 speed manual 4.9 liter 6 cylinder and it already gets pretty decent gas mileage.
Flowmaster Force II
K&N FIPK Cold Air Intake
Airaid Poweraid Throttle Body Spacer
Jet Power Control Module Stage 2
and mabye a homeaid ram air intake system with insullation
if the chip for your vehicle has been set to (has the ability to) retune the engine in conjunction with the (very fine) modification program you have done....you may increase mileage BUT you will certainly have increased your HP if your performance exhaust system is catback, and if you install performance headers.
Generally the modification program you have described coupled with a fresh tune results in 2 things:
-power enhancement in the range of 20-25% over stock
-in certain instances the need to go to higher octane (to advance ignition and handle higher heat levels).
....so increased gas mileage yes (perhaps) increased FUN FACTOR, absolutely....nice job

All good ideas except for you left out the best ad on money can buy for an improvement in performance and gas mileage. Buy a good set of headers and get that dirty air and spent gases out of your combustion chambers. Headers are the absolutely best thing you can spend your money on when looking for more performance or gas mileage.

How can I make my truck FASTER?
Sep 07, 2007 by Just Wondering 777 | Posted in Other - Cars & Transportation
I have a '96 Dodge Ram 1500 5.9L 4 Speed Automatic with the Club Cab and extended bed and it has 80,000 miles.
Things I have already done to improve it:
AIRAID Intake System with a PowerAid Throttle Body Spacer
Jet Performance Chip Control Module
MSD 6 Offroad Ignition System
Super Duty Dual Electric Cooling Fans
A Shorter and wider Exhaust Pipe
What else can I do to make it faster, specifically to increase the acceleration rate?
Other things I have on it that you might need to know:
4 Inch Lift Kit
Big (Not Huge) Mud Terrain Tires
Rancho RS9000X Rear Shocks
Rancho Front Suspension Bar
Dana 44 Front End
So can you help me make my truck faster and accelerate quicker without spending thousands of dollars?
well supercharger or turbo if you car afford it new headers and well alot more really

put shell gas in it.........up that should do it.......and add some gas treatment too....

Hi! i answered your other question and i saw this one so i thought i'd answer it again!
you could get a turbocharger. only problem is that you also have to get an intercooler and put in an oil temp. gauge on the dashboard. another thing you could do is get an air filter. it won't help much, but a little.
good luck!

whats the best cold air intake system for my dodge ram?
Sep 29, 2009 by jeff | Posted in Dodge
i have a 1997 5.9L. ive heard great things about the K&N but the airaid is way cheaper...thanks for some input
the k&n one actually does what it says it will do,the airdad im not to sure about it,i got the complete system on my truck and i probably gained around 10-12 horse power just by adding it on,it works ,it cost more, but its worth the extra money,go with the K&N system, good luck.

Best way to make a homemade cold air intake?
Feb 22, 2007 by PapaHepcat | Posted in Other - Cars & Transportation
I'm wanting to upgrade my cold air intake for my 2002 PT Cruiser, but have a hard time wanting to drop $200 - $300 on what seems so simple. I like the Airaid setup, and thought maybe to just pull out anything restrictive in the stock intake system and drop in a K&N filter. But I think flow might be better with more direct piping. Any suggestions for materials, etc? I want to make sure the air is cold, and don't want to pull hot air from the engine compartment. Please, no ABS or PCV.
If I do mandrel tubing, what about the filter?
I was in the same situation with my mazda rx8. A cold air intake for it is $300. What I did is I went on ebay and found some universal polished intake pipe and a universal cone air filter. My intake ending up costing me a total of $45 dollars with the air filter. For more information check out the website listed below. Good Luck!
Finally, the powertrain has been updated with a MagnaFlow cat-back exhaust and AirAid Cold Air Intake and air filter. We'll have live pictures and more info
