HOMEMADE GASOLINE
21.05.12
Why make your own fuel? Because you can! Because you have no choice! People around the country are fed up with gas prices so they are making their own gasoline. This is particularly popular in the Western part of New Jersey. They’re calling this homemade gasoline: Jersey Moonshine. Here’s one way to do it: 1. Go buy about 20 gallons of motor oil and dump in your bath tub. 2. Get a huge plastic sheet, a squeegee and some drip pans and then seal off the bathroom, then put the drip pans on the floor. 3. Use a hair dryer and blow it over the oil for a couple of days. You should see the oil reduce to solid chunks and the gasoline part has evaporated and is all over the ceiling and walls. Just Squeegee the gas off the walls into the drip pans and then dump it in your car! If that doesn’t work, we’ll go to:

Which oil filter is better Fram extra guard or Purolater premium plus?
Oct 04, 2006 by sean | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
I ask because i have heard horror stories about Fram oil filters.
Fram is horrible, go with the Purolator.
yugie29 | Oct 04, 2006
I think purolator is better. I've had bad luck with fram!
matt p | Oct 04, 2006
Fram sucks. The filter case will separate at high oil pressure (modified race engines). Never had a problem with purolator. I use them or WIX on my cars.
electron670 | Oct 04, 2006
Unless your in extreme duty (ie desert or very cold) buy the least expensive one. All average oil filters will work fine for everyday driving. And they get changed every 3 months or 3,000 miles. Save the money.

i own a repair shop,,and all i use is the fram extra guard filter and i have never had any problems from any of them at all and i been using them for 20 some years now,and never have had an engine go bad because of one,,some of the stories you hear about them are from people who didn't put them on right i have heard of a few of them my self,,but i trust them in all my vehicles and i own a bunch of cars right now,,i own a 1971 dodge challenger ,and i got a fram filter on it,,that's how much i trust them, and i have used them on it for 20 years now,and never a problem with it yet,id go with the fram it you want to protect your engine good,,they wont let you down,,good luck i hope this help,s.

I think that Fram's filter media is capable of capturing smaller particles, which may be it's undoing if a person leaves it installed for too long. If a person changes the oil at 3000 mile intervals, I think the filter you use is probably negligible.

cross my hd oil filter with fram oil filter Need Fram number?
Dec 24, 2007 by Ernest T. Bass | Posted in Motorcycles
late 1984 roadster 1000cc hd oil filter to fram oil filter I need frams number
do you really wanna put a fram on your harley???
rhgizmo | Dec 24, 2007
http://www.sportster.org/tech/oil_filter _cross_reference.html make sure the one you use is 'motorcycle specific' there is a valve inside that opens to bypass the filter after it is too -dirty, it is set different for motorcycles
Kurt T | Dec 24, 2007
looks like the fram PH6022 or 6065A will both work for you. If I remember right, one is a long filter that is hard to fit and the other is more of the OEM size.
lowdownmike | Dec 24, 2007
don't use a Fram!
in the 2005 SAE Tests the Fram Filter failed the bypass test!
The best filters:
#1 Mobil 1
#2 Purolator Pure 1
#3 AC Delco
#4 NAPA Gold, and Wix

Get off of your lazy butt and the Internet and do some walking. Visit an auto parts store and use the cross reference manuals that are available. Give your brain some exercise!

Are Fram Oil Filters and the K&N Air Filter the best for your vehicle?
Jan 19, 2008 by Calm & Collected | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
I just have a 98' Ranger
the k&n air filter is great. more air, increased milage, and a little more power. and it is reuseable. The fram oil filter is not the best. the filter material is made of cardboard. The k&n oil filter is a good filter but it is about 13 bucks. A good filter for the money is the pourlator pure one. it has an antidrainback valve, and a 99% micronic filter rating and it is about 6 bucks.
matthew s | Jan 19, 2008
Go K&N Oil Filter and K&N Air Filter, Thats the best.
MX3-Fan | Jan 19, 2008
k&n by far is better but sometimes will cause flooding on older stock vehicles.
scott w | Jan 19, 2008
I use WIX filters. I have had too many problems with FRAM.
nick@night | Jan 19, 2008
it depends what car you have, if it is a Honda use the Honda Oil and Air Filter, same with a Porsche
Butter | Jan 19, 2008
Yes go with K&N thease filters are on the majority of the vehicles engines that I rebuild.
They are the best to let dirt enter the engine and wear them out the fastest. go K&N.
They are the mechanics best buddy
coaltruck344 | Jan 19, 2008
K&N give you more airflow but let in more dirt, I would not use them.
pbleek | Jan 19, 2008
I have used fram for years and had good luck, both air and oil filters, now if you want a higher flow air filter I would recommend the K&N filter.

What cars does a fram PH5 oil filter go on?
Mar 06, 2009 by Antonio B | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
I dont no what year my car motor is. I have 1979 Delta 88 Royale but it has a chevy 350 in it. it looks like a 90s model because it has the center bolt valve cover. I got it like that about 2 year ago. the dude that sold it to told me it was between a 94-95 chevy motor. so when i get the oil change i always 95 chevy 1500 someone please help me
I do remember owning something that took a PH5... It would fit the 327 in my '70 C10 pickup. I think that filter will fit all small blocks (including the 4.3L V6) up to the early '00s. I can't remember if it will fit my '97 GM 350 (but I would bet that it does).
It was the Chevy, or it was my '77 Jeep CJ with the 258 I6...

Aug 23, 2006 by Mortician69 | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
I've been reading online about these filters and everybody has something negative to say about them. Are they really that bad? I installed a Fram oil filter on my econo car during my last oil change with Mobil 1 Synthetic. Do you think the filter will hold up driving 5k miles?
