Meet The Entrepreneur Who Hauls Motorcycles With A Prius
21.05.12
Towing ridiculous loads with tiny cars is nothing new. Ever been to Europe or South America? Green Technology seems bent on spreading that mentality to big truck happy America.
Adam Winters, the Tennessee native who started the small company, explained in his inviting Southern drawl that Green Technology specializes in transporting motorcycles and high end pets in two Priuses, one a 2007 model and the other a 2012. An ASE-certified mechanic, he fashioned both cars' mods himself, including adding reusable K&N air filters, modifying the battery packs and installing custom air ride suspensions. He says he gets 50 mpg with two 800-pound Harley cruisers (or three street bikes) strapped to the trailer, better than the stock Priuses do without being loaded down.
"I'm only 23 and barely graduated HS," he said. "The technology's there, and there are way smarter people than me, so I don't understand why the technology hasn't advanced."
He didn't get into too much detail on his proprietary Prius improvements, but said that he's working on a set of wheel generators to make his cars even more efficient.

it says 50000. that is so much! is that true to clean air filter in every 50000 miles?
I asked the same question to some performance shops around town. They said for dusty climates (where i live in Arizona) clean every 6 Months -or- about 3 oil changes -or- 9,000 miles. That's as much as I know-- you might want to call up a few of your local auto shops and get a round-a-bout estimate as to how often you should clean yours.

mild soap and low pressure water. A stiff hair or plastic brush works great to remove debris from the cracks. Do not use a harsh solvent or compressed air. When it dries, coat it with K&N oil.

I clean my K&N cold air intake filter every 6k miles or every 2 oil changes. And don't listen to joseph above......they sell a cleaner and oil in one kit for them it's $15 and lasts like 3 cleanings. Hope this helps.

With K&N's being alittle dirty does not hurt air flow through them, in fact it helps to filter the air better..
I have a carb, and a 10" x 3.75" tall K&N filter in a sealed cold air system, sticking up through my hood and into a cowl scoop..
Every 3,000 miles or so, I will take filter out, and tap it against my porch steps to knock all the little dead bugs, and bigger trash out of it, then reinstall.
Every 6K miles I give it a quick re oiling..
Then every 25K miles or so I will wash it with a mild soap and low pressure water, let it air dry, then give it a good re oiling
and a simple K&N aluminum intake was used on top of the throttle body. For normal running, a conical filter is attached directly to the aluminum intake,
