How long does a Chevy fuel pump last?
Apr 23, 2010 by Charles | Posted in Chevrolet
I have a 2004 Chevy Malibu classic 2.2L 4Cyl. I plan to replace my fuel pump with an Airtex fuel pump. How long does an Airtex fuel pump last? i know my original fuel pump is 6 years old and is now starting to die.
I agree with the 2 previous posts as well. Also if you keep at least 1/2 tank of gas in your car and frequently change your fuel filter it will aid in the pump lasting longer as well. The gas is what cools the pump, which prolongs it's life. While the fuel filters tend to cause restriction which overworks the pump if not changed at the manufacture's recommended intervals. Good luck and hope this helps.

It will last longer than the GM one made in Mexico.
I had to replace 3 in one month.
Finally sold the Blazer.

Is the sending unit already built into a the fuel pump for a 2004 Dodge carave?
Jul 04, 2008 by ummmgeee20005 | Posted in Dodge
When I go to search this part online, I can't seem to find it. All I find is the fuel pump and not the sending unit. Airtex - Fuel Pump Control Module seems to be the appropriate part.
yes their all one unit now, when you buy one you get the sending unit along with a new pump, the been this way for a while now, good luck.

Are Airtex fuel pumps really as bad as I've heard?
Jan 25, 2011 by bloodweiser | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
I need to replace the fuel pump on my 99 Chevy Lumina. I've heard throughout the internet that these are faulty. Anyone have any amount of a success rate installing these? Advice? TIA!
Fuel pumps are one of those items that should be replaced with the dealer part. Yes, you pay more (sometimes a lot more), yes, you won't replace it as often. It's now 2010, that stock pump lasted 11 years, do you really want to question their price? They cost that much because they last, not because GM is greedy.
Check out gmpartsdirect.com if you get the stock part number from your local dealer, my local dealer is a crook and sells at retail, while gmpartsdirect will undercut them substantially.

I have a 2001 gmc jimmy...
Only if you want to change it again in six months... spend the extra money for a GM unit.

Why does my Jeep Cherokee electric fuel pump starting getting louder after I drive long distances (100+miles)?
Oct 17, 2010 by Mark | Posted in Jeep
I recently bought and installed an Airtex Fuel Pump from Advance Auto Parts:
for my 1991 Jeep Cherokee Laredo. It ran fine for a while but recently when I drive continuously for a long distance 100+ miles the fuel pump gets significantly louder. Any suggestions?
The gasoline helps to cool the pump. When you run low on gas, the pump will run hotter.
