PROVIDENCE, R.I., Aug. 31, 2011 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- HDS International Corp. (otcqb:HDSI), a provider of industrial ocean-based biomass production and other high-value eco-sustainability solutions, today announced that renowned scientist Alexander M. Chirkov, PhD, MD will be joining the Company as Chief Scientific Officer, effective immediately.
Under the terms of today's agreement, Dr. Chirkov will be responsible for the Company's technology and innovation programs, including the development and acquisition of new technologies, and will also directly supervise the Company's production and research projects.
Dr. Chirkov has 25 year experience in fundamental and applied research in biophysics. His primary fields of expertise include energy balances of biological systems, from single-cell organisms to integrated ecological systems. Dr. Chirkov has created models to help understand and manage energy balances, from consumption to production and redistribution. Over the past ten years, Dr. Chirkov has been actively involved in the development of the new scientific discipline of algae to energy. His interdisciplinary approach and extensive experience with algae research makes him an invaluable asset for the implementation of our technologies and the creation of new technologies. For the past 4 years, Dr. Chirkov has been a member of the Algal Biomass Organization as well as a member of its peer review committee. Dr. Chirkov is the inventor of certain of the Company's breakthrough technologies and intellectual property.
