2012 Nissan Versa Leads Sub-Compact Sales in August
The all-new 2012 Nissan Versa has added to its impressive year-to-date lead in the highly competitive small car segment by posting the highest unit sales in its debut month. The best-selling compact car in America outsold all other sub-compacts including Ford Fiesta, Chevrolet Aveo, Honda Fit, Hyundai Accent, Mazda 2 and Toyota Yaris.
Launched in late August, Versa’s marketing campaign is based on the simple premise: “The Most ____Per Dollar.” This refers to all the “mosts” to be found on the Versa like most legroom, most headroom, most trunk space, and most innovation. Now there is another “most”: most sub-compact segment sales in its first full month it is available.
“We launched the new Versa Sedan from a position of strength, with Versa holding a substantial lead in sub-compact sales for the 2011 calendar year, and August sales up 14.9% over the previous year,” said Al Castignetti, vice president and general manager, Nissan Division, Nissan North America, Inc. “It’s encouraging to see the tremendous dealer and consumer response to the all-new Versa Sedan design, keeping Versa’s momentum going in this highly competitive market segment.”
