GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. -- General Motors is in the process of contacting 900,000 vehicle owners who are finding their gas gauges are worn out, leaving helpless motorists to wonder if they've really got gas. They're being contacted by letter. The vehicles affected are Chevy Trailblazers, GMC Envoys and Buick Rainiers produced between 2005 and 2007.
"The gas gauge never goes above E. I would say it was about 63,000 miles that it went out," Julie Anderson, owner of a 2006 Chevy Trailblazer, said. "I probably go to the gas station every four days just to make sure I have enough gas in there," she added.
KARE 11 put out a call about the problem on Facebook and received dozens of responses in a matter of minutes.
We went to Star West service manager Lyle Oddan to find out what the problem was. "Little contacts inside the sensor will wear and you'll get an open spot where the current doesn't go through," he explained, telling us he's fixed about a dozen this month.

What is the best SUV (safety, fuel efficiency, size) for a family vacation?
Jun 28, 2010 by Davin Mathis | Posted in Commuting
My family and I are traveling to Florida soon and I was wondering what is the best type of vehicle to rent. I am looking for something easy to drive and comfortable to accommodate my family on a long drive. My mom is worried about a large vehicle because she thinks they always roll-over. Are there any sites that I could use to compare vehicle more closely?
Nobody would choose an SUV for safety or fuel efficiency. Your question doesn't make sense.
This is like saying "which hammer should I use to wash my laundry?"
Your mom is pretty smart.

what is the best suv for fuel efficiency AND elbow room?
Mar 23, 2006 by songbird092962 | Posted in Buying & Selling
I drive a semi for a living and as a result can't stand to be cramped while I drive. I am also a big woman so need extra elbow room.
There are many Hybrid SUV models available for your need. The mileage for these SUVs can get 28+ MPG and still drives like a V8. Prices on these hybrids are usually very close to MSRP due to the high demand.
You can follow this link to see the current incentives on each Hybrid model and some good reviews about these vehicle:
well, when think about SUV, don't think about the gas.
Chevy Suburban is big, with big "trunk" capacity.if you don't care about the "trunk", you can choose Tahoe.

all suv's have elbow room. i'd just look at the fuel economy and get a ford escape. we had them for the construction crew and it seats five big guys just fine.

Most SUV's will have great elbow room. As for fuel mileage, this site has a list of all hybrid SUV's currently on the market.

What is the best kind of suv/crossover for fuel efficiency and safety?
May 24, 2007 by J | Posted in Buying & Selling
My husband is starting a new job and he's going to be travelling a lot more, so we're looking for a fuel efficient suv/or crossover (he doesn't like cars or minivans). I'm not sure what's safe AND fuel efficient. He's currently looking at the Edge, a Grand Cherokee or some kind of Buick crossover (I don't know the name). Any insight would be helpful! (Or personal experience!) Thanks!
Oh, and I forgot.. I want something like Ford, Chrysler or GM made..... Nothing foreign!
I would go with a Toyota Rav 4 or a Honda CRV (4 cylinder models) because they are reliable and i beleive that they have fairly good crash ratings. they are also not too bad on gas when you compare them to a vehicle such as you are describing (Edge, Grand Cherokee, Buick).

Not that it's great on gas, but I love the Chevy Trailblazer!
I know you said you don't want anything foriegn, but please keep in mind that American cars are known for not lasting as long and they depreciate in value much quicker.
I have a Toyota Rav4 and it runs great and is TERRIFIC on gas!!!

what is the best SUV that is most fuel efficient?
Nov 17, 2007 by kim | Posted in Other - Cars & Transportation
I have a toyota 4runner and it's been too expensive on gas. Thinking of trade in for a more fuel efficient car.
Oddly enough there was a jury finding on that and released tonight. If you click on the below link you can read the article, but, believe it or not, the top ranking "green" vehicle in all that they judged was the new hybrid Chevy Tahoe SUV.

Need roominess, good ride, ability to haul stuff etc. My beloved Honda has 200k miles and is starting to fade with its performance, but has been a great vehicle. SHould I stay with Honda or venture out?
I would venture out since I have owned two GM models that both had over 300,000 miles when I sold them.
