Auto insurance can be expensive for some individuals, and less expensive for others. It depends on the risk factors involved and the states a person lives. A driver around the age of 25 with no major auto incidents in a $20,000 vehicle can expect to have much lower monthly payment than a 21 year old with an accident under their belt. Most people are also unaware that credit also plays a role. A persons credit score is a reflection of their responsibility and ability to manage money properly. Insurance companies do not like covering individuals who are deemed risky. If a person credit is bad, the car insurance companies may view that person as risky with a higher probability of causing an accident, there for increasing the rates.
Americans can easily switch auto insurance policies. They can either research a cheaper plan with their current insurance provider, or get quotes from a different car insurance provider. Getting multiple quotes from various insurance providers and comparing them side by side is the best way for people around the country to get a new auto insurance plan that is cheaper or more affordable.

Internet auto insurance provider 4AutoInsuranceQuote.org released their report on the top ten most expensive cars in the world last week. Fast and flashy sports cars top their list of cars they say "you'll probably never be able to afford." The big winner (if you can call it that) in this study, with a price of $2.5 million, is the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport. Coming in at number two on their list at $2.21 million is the Koenisegg Trevita. Lamborgini, Maybach, and Ferrari also hold spots on this European-dominated top ten list.
The Bugatti Veyron Super Sport model was designed by the German Volkswagon group and later produced by Bugatti Automobiles SAS. Not only is it the most expensive car in the world, it is also known as the fastest road-legal car in the world. It has a 1,200 metric horsepower engine and is able to reach speeds of 431.07 km/h (or 253.52 mph). A "blistering-fast" automobile, they say, the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport can go from 0mph to 60mph in just 2.46 seconds.

Insurance help - Automobile?
Jan 04, 2011 by teh sniper | Posted in Insurance & Registration
I know that lying to my automobile insurance provider is both pointless and illegal, but i still want to save money. Here is my situation...
I have 2 cars...one for whatever, and one for fun =). However, my fun car was recently purchased and I have been shopping around for auto insurance for it. I am 18 years old, and since the car's title is in my name, the policy will list me as the primary driver (from what i understand, this is required). I have gotten quotes from 3 providers at the moment...Geico's quote was astronomical, Farmer's was quite high, and my family's current policy holder American Family was still high. But this is to be expected since the car is quite nice...a 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution. At the moment, since i just got a new job and have started to generate some income, I opted for simply the comprehensive coverage...basically anything that happens to it in my garage, like theft or natural disasters, is covered. Plus for some reason if i hit an animal too (i have no idea why). This is costing me around $75 a month. Since i have a lean on the car from my bank, they said they would need comp and collision for the car when i start driving it...but my state also requires liability. This coverage would all cost a grand total of $290 a month. This is in addition to my $170 a month car payments.
I cannot afford $290 a month!! I have talked to a friend of mine...her father owns an S2000 and a 2006 Evo, and he was saying that somewhere around $200 to $250 a month tops would be ok for me. What should i dooooooo? I really wanna drive it in the summer (or when the weather permits in general), but i cannot afford to give my entire paycheck for my insurance & car payments...if i can get insurance for my fun car for around $200, that will leave me some room for food, gas, etc.
AFI has discounts for policies, like good student (which i am), and if the car has 1 (driver) airbag...but the car is safe in other ways too - 4 wheel drive, anti lock brakes, 4 doors....and I have a totally clean driving record, no tickets or anything. Unfortunately the guy said that the car isn't in the "preferred vehicle" catagory, and that they could make an exception if i had another 1-3 years of driving experience...that by itself would save me 50 bucks, but alas, nope.
Ideas?
*sigh* i do not own my "whatever" car, nor do i pay the insurance for it. The only reason i even got a job is because i wanted my own car for fun
clearly, you cannot afford two cars, you can A get rid of one or B get another job? whats it going to be. I looked up funcar and it is not in the dictionary, sorry. may not be what you want to hear, but I suggest after your three years experience you can afford it. and when do you guys learn to not compare rates from adults who have 20 years experience?
| Jan 04, 2011
Yes, I have an excellent idea. Since you can't afford the insurance, you should sell the car.
it's lien, not lean

You said that the only reason you got a job is because you want a car for fun and now you're having trouble with paying your insurance. I have to advice you to double your hard work and add some extra income to meet or needs or you can use just one car for the mean time. Regarding automobile insurance, I would recommend you to visit http://www.everettautomobileinsurance.co m/ and maybe they could at least help you with your car insurance.

Two part question--Germany Auto insurance and the IPhone?
May 03, 2009 by The Sarge | Posted in Insurance & Registration
1.) What automobile insurance companies do most people use in Germany (German companies not American) to get the best rate?
2.) Will a T- Mobile IPhone from German (T-Mobile) work in the US under a new contract or will i need to get a new phone when i return to the US?
Google "german auto insurance" and see what comes up. At least the EU has realistic minimum limits, compared to most US states.

Which American car brand is the best?
Aug 21, 2007 by V S | Posted in Buying & Selling
I am looking to buy a used automobile that cost 12 thousand or less (American dollars). American cars a cheaper to insure in America which is important because I haven't had my license for long (around 2 months). I know that Japanese brands are leading right now but I really can't afford one of those right now. Insurance is higher because they are more likely to be stolen, replacement parts are costly, and I live in NYC. I don't want to buy a car that is over 4 years old. I'm also looking in to buying something from the JEEP brand of SUV's. Does anyone have any experience with the JEEP line of autos? Thanks in advance.
I'm looking at cars as well. Please include suggestions.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but Jeep has really gone in the tank since Daimler-Chrysler took them over. Also, this whole idea of Japanese brands being better than American cars is a thing of the past. Right now, Ford and General Motors are kicking the absolute crap out of the Japanese in terms of reliability ratings, and last year Toyota recalled more vehicles than the entire Big Three combined. American cars are now every bit as good as their Japanese counterparts, but you won't hear that from Consumer Reports or the mainstream media.
Let's review: You want to buy a car that's no more than four years old, you don't want to pay any more than $12,000.00, and you're looking at a sport utility? Your expectations are not very realistic. A decent American SUV will cost you between $25,000.00 and $35,000.00 brand new right now, and any vehicle that depreciates over half its value in the first four years is not going to be reliable. Besides, SUVs are very expensive to insure, very expensive to put gas into because they're guzzlers, and very expensive to maintain. For what you're looking to pay, you'd be wise to consider a car unless you have a very good reason for going the SUV route (e.g., you go camping a lot or you need something that will pull a boat or a trailer). And no, having a family is not a good reason to buy a sport utility -- you're better off getting a crossover vehicle or a minivan in terms of reliability, gas mileage, and maintenance costs. Ford makes several good, solid, reliable cars; Buick has been getting top-marks in quality and reliability for over a decade; and Pontiac has at least one car that has been on the Consumers Digest "Best Buy" List for years (the Grand Prix).
BOTTOM LINE: I'd advise you against a Jeep because they're just not as good as they used to be. If you live in NYC, think about reliability, fuel economy, and size (you want to make sure it'll fit in those tight NYC parking spaces). Give some serious thought to a car instead of an SUV -- an SUV will cost you a lot more in the long run.

If anything else, JEEP is not at all a good SUV. Since Chrysler took it over. Ford or Nissan or Toyota

Land of the free and home of the broken. If I had to buy an American car it would be a Ford. Ahh, I just said i would buy a Ford. Look what you made me do. Save more and get more from your vehicle.

Cherokee all the way! Had one with over 170,000 miles and not one problem except general maintanence and passenger side electric window switch. Nothing better in the snow. Almost cried when my son totalled it (It's a Jeep thing you wouldn't understand)

Can I disable the data recorder in my car?
Apr 24, 2007 by ignorelander | Posted in Other - Cars & Transportation
I have heard that it is pretty much impossible to disable the data recorder in american automobiles. Can anyone confirm or refute this? I want more than anything to guard my privacy against some scummy insurance company.
The data recorder you refer to is part of the engine control module. I'm not aware of a way to disable this "feature" without destroying the functionality of the ECM. The only way I can think to avoid it would be to drive an older car.

Do I have to pay road tax in America?
Nov 21, 2008 by trenchardc | Posted in Insurance & Registration
Basically... I'm on my gap year, and a few friends and I plan to go to America in 2009 and drive from the East coast to the West coast. As we are all under 21, it makes the most sense (and most fun) to buy a van on one side, drive to the other side then sell it. Renting is probably really expensive.
I have found somewhere that we can buy from, and they say they can find somewhere we can sell to on the other side.
My question is, do I need to pay road tax for a car in the United States in the same way I do in England? Also, is it necessary to have insurance? I presume it is. I have looked at AAA (American Automobile Association) which seems to cover both insurance and breakdown services. Does anyone have any other/better suggestions for this?
A further complication is that we won't ever really be in one place at any one time, so won't have a mailing address whilst we're there.
Thanks!!
I don't know what the road tax in the UK amounts to. There is no Road Tax as such in the US. You pay a fee or tax for the license plate and registration of the vehicle at the time of purchase. It varies from state to state. If you're talking to a salesman ask him what it will cost for title and registration. Insurance is mandatory in all states. If you're involved in an accident and don't have insurance you are automatically at fault regardless of who did what. In the event you are stopped for a traffic offense, not having proof of insurance will result in an expensive ticket and in some cases, confiscation of the vehicle. AAA is not the cheapest insurance but they are reliable and they do have an excellent reputation for service on the road in the event of breakdown. Make sure you bring proof that you have insurance in the UK with you. Some insurance companies want to see that you currently have insurance as proof of being a responsible driver. As to renting, since you're under 21 you may find it impossible to rent an automobile in the U.S. Good luck and I hope you enjoy your trip. There is a lot of beautiful country to see. Like any country we have our share of @ss holes but for the most part you'll find the people along the way to be friendly and cooperative.
