The most successful car in history may be the Ford Model T. While other models may have sold more vehicles, Ford managed to sell nearly 17 million cars from 1908 to 1927 — a period when car ownership was rare compared to today. The Model T was so successful that nearly every other best-selling car adopted its formula. The Model T was inexpensive to buy, inexpensive to operate, reliable and built by a large company that had hundreds of dealerships and trained mechanics. The other vehicles on this list, from the VW Passat to the Toyota Corolla, share all of these characteristics. The best-selling cars through history have appealed to a broad buyer base because they are within the reach of the masses.
The best-selling vehicles have several other notable features in common. For one, the majority were introduced just before or around the same time that gas prices began to rise rapidly in the early 1970s, primarily because of the Arab oil embargo. Car companies offered 4-cylinder, light and fuel-efficient cars that allowed people to drive without badly hurting household budgets. Many of these cars continue to sell well today as gas prices are relatively high around the world.
NASCAR Notes: Will We See Another Cinderella Story At Daytona
22.05.12
NASCAR officially kicks off its 2012 racing season this Sunday with the 54th annual running of its great American race: the Daytona 500. From what we’ve observed from Daytona preliminary events, such as the Budweiser Shootout and both Gatorade Duels, there’s plenty of reason to believe that Sunday’s 500 is going to be filled with massive excitement and quickly become a true test of man and machine.
THE STORY BREAKDOWN
Two car tandem racing is virtually over in NASCAR Sprint Cup racing. This aspect to the restrictor plate events, at Daytona and Talladega, hit huge last year and was not well received by the fans. The truth be known, NASCAR officials weren’t that thrilled about it either.
To counteract the concept, NASCAR issued a series of rule changes during the preseason that included reductions in the grill openings on the front of the cars, a reduction in the the engine’s cooling systems and a reduction in the size of the rear spoilers. They also eliminated the multi channel radio systems the drivers used last season to set up their two car tandems. At no point did NASCAR actually forbid the use of tandem racing. They just used the rule changes to make it unfeasible. Too much time spent in a two by two grouping could lead to engine overheating issues. Drivers discovered that anything past three laps caused a significant rise in the water temperature gauge.

I'm with Norwich Union.
You will find that many insurance companies run schemes ties in with Green Flag RAC and AA, it's worth looking into it. and you do nothave to have your car insurance with them. I think confused.com or one of the others would be useful

Which UK car manufacturers offer free breakdown cover as a perk of buying a new car from them?
Aug 27, 2008 by ultrabr0w | Posted in Buying & Selling
I am trying to find out which car manufacturers from the following list offer free breakdown cover as part of the showroom deal. This can either be arranged by the dealer themselves or be part of the insurance package they give-away (if any!). Please see the list of manufacturers below I am interested in:
Nissan
Mazda
Mitsubishi
BMW
Rover/MG
Audi
Mercedes
Landrover
Kia
Citroen
Vauxhall
Ford
Peugeot
Chrysler
Chevrolet
Dodge
Toyota
Fiat
Honda
Alfa Romeo
Hyundai
Jeep
Mini
Volkswagon
Seat
Lexus
Renault
Jaguar
Skodo
Smart
Subaru
Suzuki
Volvo
If so, which roadside assitance company do each manufacturers use? Maybe if we can get someone who has bought a car from each manufacturer brand new, we can formulate a list between us!
Thankyou for any help you can provide.
J G - Most, if not all of the dealer websites do not mention breakdown cover. The websites mostly advertise their finance options and real cash savings as opposed to smaller perks like breakdown cover. Thankyou for your input, you have been very 'helpful'
I have given a call to each of these car manufacturers and they all offer free brakdown cover, generally for the first 3 years of ownership for a brand new car or 1 year for an approved used car. I have also found out which companies they use as well so thankyou all for your input
I thought they all gave free breakdown cover.
Had a new Peugeot and they did for 3 years
If they didnt and the car broke down the other end of the country from where you bought it they would be liable for picking it up and getting it fixed. So it is easier for them to do a deal with the RAC or AA and include it in the purchase price

Breakdown Insurance less than 12 months?
Jun 11, 2008 by thejeangenie1982 | Posted in Insurance & Registration
Hi, does anyone know if it's possible to get car breakdown cover for less than 12 months? All i ever see on advertisements and online is quotes for 12 months cover but i am planning on leaving the UK for a bit after 6 months so that's all i require. Before i contact insurance companies can someone tell me if this is normal or an irregular request? Cheers!
I think you may be able to get it at 10 months, but not sure about 6.
It would be best to ask the individual company eg. the AA
Haha i wouldn't say it was irregular but who knows what they would think!
