According to a recent survey by Insure.com, the least-expensive
2012-model cars to insure are the four-cylinder Toyota Sienna LE
minivan, followed, in order of the least expensive, by the
four-cylinder basic Toyota Sienna, the Jeep Patriot Sport, the Jeep
Compass Sport, the GMC Sierra K1500 regular cab, the Chevrolet
Silverado 1500 regular cab, the Dodge Grand Caravan SXT and the
Ford Escape XLS.
Insurance costs can vary a lot depending on the car's safety and
theft record and the cost to repair it, so it's no surprise that
the most-expensive cars to insure are high-end sports cars. Topping
the list is the Audi R8 Spyder Quattro convertible, followed by the
Mercedes CL600 Coupe and a long list of other expensive sports
cars.
These results were based on the average insurance rates for each
model from six large insurers (Allstate, Farmers, GEICO,
Nationwide, Progressive and State Farm) in ten zip codes per state
for a hypothetical 40-year-old male with a clean driving record.
You can get the full list at Insure.com , where you can also look up the average rates in your state by
vehicle make and model for the same 40-year-old male.
As long as they appear to be inflated, most drivers don’t give them a second thought. If you have a flat tire when it’s freezing, you’ll regret not checking them. Inspect the tires visually and note any cracking, nicks or bulges in the sidewalls, or apparent nails that might be stuck in the treads. Tire treads that are less than 3/32-inches need to be replaced. You can consider an all-season tire, or if you live in an area of heavy snowfall, snow tires might be a better option.
Check the tire pressure. A tire pressure gauge can be purchased at any auto parts store and at most retailers such as Walmart, Meijers’ and even some grocery stores. A simple pencil gauge retails for around $9 while a digital gauge will set you back $13. A tire inflater is inexpensive insurance to keep in your trunk and retails for $20 or less.
Tire pressure can affect your car’s gas mileage and tire wear. Having the correct inflation will help you gain

Cheap? No such thing, you have two strikes against you already. 1) You are male 2) You are 17
Have your parents put you on their policy.

Try confused.com or the auto trader
geordie_no1 | Jun 16, 2006
try fred loya!!
latrole1 | Jun 16, 2006
Do the confused.com thing for starters, they will try most insurers, then if you can think of any others try them as well.
You will pay a lot as you are highest risk group, then next year if you get chance protect your no claims.
jimbo_thedude | Jun 16, 2006
You may get it less if you shop around and accept some limitations to your insurance policy, also accept a ridiculous volutary excess.
But unfortunatley for a young whippersnapper like you, theres no such thing as cheap.
Oh Yeah! Going on your moms insurance may be cheaper but you wont build up any no claims bonus of your own, in the long run it may benefit you to have your own insurance from the start, even if you do have to sell a kidney to pay for it. Lol!!

Could try 1st Quote or bedford Insurance
lezann40 | Jun 16, 2006
try direct line - they gave me the cheapest quote.. although your insurance will depend on the area you live in so a different insurer may be better for you where you live. shop around using online quote services and see what quotes you can get, be prepared to spend some time - you can save hundreds (literally)
also, have you completed a pass plus driving course? - as long as you haven't had any claims against your insurance already, having the pass plus certificate can get you a discount with certain insurers. (sometimes equivalent to the first years no claims bonus)
just a word of caution about going on your mums insurance ..... be very careful especially if she has many years no claims bonus (unprotected) - if you have an accident on her insurance it not only goes against the name of the driver at fault but also the insurance policy holder. I found this out the hard way when a named driver had an accident on my policy and sent my insurance through the roof.
hope this helps you, enjoy your car - the insurance is a lot but drivings great - its well worth it! :)
P.S. the advantage of taking out your own policy is that you will start to build up your own no claims bonus - the first year makes a huge difference to your insurance premium, and also; tesco car insurance is another good one to try.

www.bell.com was good for me i saved about 350 on all the others
matthurley83 | Jun 17, 2006
Ask your father to insure it, and put you as a named driver.
Direct line now do a policy where a named driver builds up his/her OWN no-claims bonus
easy60man | Jun 17, 2006
Try Quinn Direct, they are based in Ireland and this helps reduce costs. Good luck!

Try putting your mother on your insurance. I know someone who had a drink-drive conviction and was under 21 - putting his mother on his insurance, rather than the other way around saved him almost £2000

What is a best cheap car insurance?
May 25, 2010 by ix | Posted in Insurance & Registration
So my parents have 2 cars and just got me a brand new car. I still am a teenager.
And I was wondering if there might be any car insurances that you can suggest what are cheap and cover a great deal?
thanks.
You need to shop around. They all calculate their rates differently so the best company for me might not be the best one for you.
SCOTT H | May 27, 2010
IF you live in your parents household they should add you and your car to their policy...even if you are a student living away from home...you are still considered a member of that household. This will not only save you quite a bit of money, but will protect you and your parents should you drive each others cars. If adding you raises rates significantly, you can shop around to make sure you are getting the best price for your family. If however, you live on your own and your parents were generous enough to buy you a car and put it in your name, then you will just have to shop around b/c insurance is based on location, age, type of vehicle, personal info and driving record.
Cindy M | May 25, 2010
My personal favorite is Allstate. The average driver saves over $396 with them. You can call them for a free, no obligation quote 24/7 at 1-888-880-6540.
Lisa | May 28, 2010
As a teenager, your insurance will typically be much higher than older people. I know of companies like The Hartford, which give good student discounts on car insurance to drivers under 25, so can check with them if you can avail that. If you are staying with your parents, you can ask them to get the car insurance in their name and add you on as an occasional additional driver. This will reduce rates for you. The Hartford also gives special rates to AARP members, so if your parents are members, maybe you can save some money there.
David | May 28, 2010
There isn't a best one I am afraid,.. You will have to shop around as you do.
Get a quote from insurers you get from yellow pages or from the web.

what is the cheapest car insurance full cover + road side ass.?
Mar 19, 2008 by jabb | Posted in Insurance & Registration
what is the cheapest car isurance, full cover + road side assistance. for 4cy 2007 toyota, have to be under $800-
There is no ONE insurance company that is right for everyone - and what I pay for insurance is based on me....and has no bearing on you.....
Typically, insurance rates will vary from State to State and can even vary by ZIPCODE! It also will depend on the type of car/truck, coverages, limits of liability, and driving record. Some companies run credit scores and MOST run a motor vehicle report and CLUE (Comprehensive Loss Underwriting Exchange) report to see about undisclosed accident involvement.
The best thing to do is call a LOCAL independent agent. Don't go across town, or to some other city - look for someone CLOSE. Just look in the phone book for the PIA or Big I (Trusted Choice) logos and you will find a professional licensed agent that will be able to help you solve your insurance problems, and give you rate comparisons of several different companies.
An independent insurance agent will normally have a dozen different companies and if he cannot help you, he should be networked with other local agents that can.
In my agency, we have companies that do NOT run a credit score and welcome drivers with "less than perfect" driving records and specialize in youthful operators!
Most of the replies on this site say "go to this on-line carrier or that on-line carrier or that 1-800 number" but I'm sure that when you do, you will find some impersonal computer user with a script to work from and you won't be able to talk with the same person every time you have a problem!
Good luck, drive RESPONSIBLY and I hope this helps!
Insuranceman | Mar 19, 2008
It depends on where you live, whether your car is garaged, how old you are, how many accidents you have, and the particular coverage levels you want. Different companies rates will be higher or lower than each other depending on these factors.
And are you talking under 800 dollars per year or 6 months or what?
Some places, you will not find insurance that cheap, period. Not even liability on a cheap used car.
Some places, that might be realistic, depending on your circumstances.
You're actually going to have to check around. Sorry to break it to you, buddy.

It depends from what state are you from? And the most common factors that could affect your car insurance rate are the ff: age, marital status, gender, financial responsibility, your driving history, your vehicle and the place that you live in.. i suggest you go for insurance provider comparison and the policy they offer and get the best one that will suit your needs at the sane time the one that you can save money for..You can do the comparison here: http://www.autoinsuranceselect.com they have all the insurance provider on every state. Good luck to you!

What repairs will my car insurance cover?
Mar 16, 2007 by jeremydriscoll2001 | Posted in Insurance & Registration
I never had car insurance or a car untill just recently so I dont know what good my insurance is, its just liability, the cheapest their is. How do I know if my car insurance will cover this repair?
btw I wasent in any accident, this damage was already part of the car when I bought it.
someone did a hit and run on my car. but I only have liability. will it cover it? what should I do?
Liability insurance is for damage you do to others, not for your property. Even if you had full collision and comprehensive, it would not cover any damage to a vehicle that existed before the policy was put in place. Insurance is not a repair and maintenance plan.
