Health secretary touts health care law in visit to St. Louis
22.05.12
A promotional tour for health care reform stopped in St. Louis Monday to commemorate the two-year anniversary of the Affordable Care Act as challenges to the law are expected to reach the U.S. Supreme Court next week.
Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius spoke to a supportive crowd at the Forest Park campus of St. Louis Community College about the benefits for retirees on Medicare.
Each day this week, Sebelius and other administration officials will be visiting swing states to speak on various aspects of health care reform. Sebelius spoke in St. Louis at the invitation of the Alliance for Retired Americans.
"Millions of Americans have begun to see benefits already from the Affordable Care Act," Sebelius said. "In spite of some of the predictions, Medicare has actually gotten stronger."
Changes to Medicare have saved 5.1 million people who are disabled or older than 65 more than $3.2 billion on prescription medicines, according to the health department.
Chinese Community Health Plan Implements DST Health Solutions' Integrated Care ...
22.05.12
BIRMINGHAM, Ala., March 22, 2012 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ --
DST Health Solutions, LLC, today announced implementation of their integrated CareAnalyzer and CareConnect applications at Chinese Community Health Plan (CCHP), a San Francisco-based health plan affiliated with Chinese Hospital. A new case study is available at dsthealthsolutions.com.
When CCHP determined their existing care management system was not meeting their needs, they knew they had to find a solution that could be implemented cost effectively. Their solution would also have to meet the state's requirement for a 24-hour Nurse Advice Line, and the lead time for the implementation was short.
CCHP chose DST Health Solutions' Care Analyzer and CareConnect, the foundations of DST's Integrated Care Management (ICM) suite of solutions, which is integrated in real time with CCHP's claims processing system. ICM identifies members most in need of care, allowing CCHP to intervene and provide enhanced care management; following up with systematic evaluations to ensure all members receive the proactive care they need.

If I take defensive driving will it keep my speeding ticket from my insurance company?
Jul 29, 2010 by Ihad32characterstoworkwith | Posted in Insurance & Registration
I have two previous tickets for speeding. One is dismissed I did community service and the other I didnt take care of and payed the fine and this is in Texas by the way I have also thought about contacting the my insurance agent and if it is dismissed because of the defensive driving this means my insurance rates will not go up correct?
I just recieved the ticket today I have not gone to court yet and the community service was more than a year ago
It is too late for dismissal, you already paid the fine. Taking the class can take the points off your record, but you are time limited in the number of times you can take the class. Your community service counts as one, now you want a second, but you don't say how far apart the tickets are.
If the tickets are less than 12 months apart, you are stuck with the points.
Dem's da law in Texas!

it's going to be high anyway

Wow, then I surely wouldn't buy a car that the cops will definitely notice.. Those are fast and you will no doubt get more tickets just because of their reputation and the fact you may step on the gas a bit harder not thinking of the consequences at the time... To answer your question about rates? Can you still be put on your parents insurrance? I guess if you are enrolled in college, correct? The insurrance for that particular car WILL be high no mater what.
My best friend had a 1990 and she was a perfect driver but her husband got too many tickets and she paid about a grand a year. I am not sure where you live but those cars are stolen everyday in Calif . Why don't you use public transportation or borrow your mom's car til you get your grades up and then your insurrance will go down.. .

Typically, insurance rates will vary from State to State and can even vary by ZIPCODE! It also will depend on the type of car/truck, coverages, limits of liability, and driving record. Some companies run credit score es and MOST run a motor vehicle report and CLUE (Comprehensive Loss Underwriting Exchange) report to see about undisclosed accident involvement.
The best thing to do is call a LOCAL independent agent. Don't go across town, or to some other city - look for someone CLOSE. Just look in the phone book for the PIA or Big I (Trusted Choice) logos and you will find a professional licensed agent that will be able to help you solve your insurance problems, and give you rate comparisons of several different companies.
An independent insurance agent will normally have a dozen different companies and if he cannot help you, he should be networked with other local agents that can.
In my agency, we have companies that do NOT run a credit score and welcome drivers with "less than perfect" driving records and specialize in youthful operators!
Most of the replies on this site say "go to this on-line carrier or that on-line carrier or that 1-800 number" but I'm sure that when you do, you will find some impersonal computer user with a script to work from and you won't be able to talk with the same person every time you have a problem!
Good luck, drive RESPONSIBLY and I hope this helps

Being under 25, accidents on record, tickets. Your a high risk investment for any insurance company. Your rates are going to be very high. You can get insurance quotes online easy. Look at http://auto.insurance---quotes.com/onlin e.html for a list of sites that offer free online quotes.

What type of automobile insurance is required to transport developmentally disabled clients in my own vehicle?
Mar 15, 2010 by tea6tina | Posted in Insurance & Registration
I was recently hired to work with a developmentally disabled child for a few hours after school. I may work with another client, too. This might involve transporting this person on various outings in the community in my vehicle. All people who work in this field for various companies in the state of Michigan (home care for the disabled, or with senior citizens) are asked to dirve their clients in their own vehicle. I am told by my reputable auto insurance company that my full coverage insurance DOES NOT cover this whatsoever. I would be required to have what is referred to as commercial insurance, since I am " transporting for hire". How can thousands of employees not know this? Are these home care agencies/companies knowingly taking advantage of their employees by putting them at risk for not bing adequately covered? Everyone is told when hired just show your certificate of automobile insurance, drivers license, registration, etc. Can anyon shed some light on this? I am told that this would make me like a taxi, ant the insurance would be $5,000/ year.
And your insurance was correct. If you take anyone anywhere in your car and are paid for doing it, you need commercial insurance at the very least, and perhaps even a commercial tag on your car.
Thousands of employees do, or should, know this. Home care agencies that hire have a right to see your insurance coverage, and for most you go to the client's home and do things for them. If you are required, as part of job, to transport them places, you will need commercial coverage.

how can I obtain releases for an accident?
Apr 14, 2009 by nagga | Posted in Insurance & Registration
Long story with alot of pot holes. My insurance dropped, but i didn't know.
This this women hit me Ill call her K, but she was driving her friends car. Ill call him j. I was at fault for the accident. I didn't have insurance. so now the SR22 game starts.
The dmv sent me a letter. but only with j's name and address. no number. I called florida dmv asking do j's insurance company, which is allstate, has a judgement against me. he said no. that its j.
i work in a mechanic shop and my license is suspended. i need it to work. I went to j's house so I can arrange payment for him. he lives in a gated community. when i got there he was not home. i spoke to his wife. she looked like she didn't know what accident i was talking about. so i left my name and number for j. 2 weeks later, no ersponse. the 3rd week i went back over there. but they were not home and the security gaurd would not let mein. the 4th week, i went back. no one home!! security gaurd would not let me in.
I went to police station to get a copy of police report. the report did not have j's phone number. but it had k's number on it. i called k and explained to her i need her to call j and his wife and explain the situation. that its crucial that i resolve this problem. k said ok, she will call them as soon as she gets off phone. but sometimes its hard to get in contact wit j, cause he always out of town. on busniesss trips or some mess like that. 1 week later, still no response. I am going to call k again today.
obviouly if i tell the dmv, i cant get in contact with these people, just throw it out. because they j don't want wat i owe him cause no one is responding to me. so he don care. But I,m making every effort to contact them, to pay them.
I told the demv, they said then i can make a security deposit. i dont have 3100 dollars to throw on table. business is slow. i ask for payment plan. dmv said they dont do plans. so my only hope is to contact these people.
Anyone has advice, or know of any loopholes?
I didnt know insurance dropped
Send this person a certified return receipt letter stating what you are planning or would like to do and write this in detail..
Wait until you either get the letter back or the receipt back and then hold on to it and if the letter is returned don't open it.....at this point you have done everything that you can do plus document every time that you went to the home and your phone calls as well....

99 on a 65 in Illinois will this show up as reckless driving or speeding?
Aug 29, 2010 by Spartan | Posted in Safety
First off I'm going to thank you in advance for reading my post
I'm 20 yrs old and I know my insurance rates are going to be insane after this, which is why I'm willing to close my driving career for another yr or two and stick to public transportation
I've been careless about the way I drive, mainly because I never got caught, always thought I'd never get pulled over
I'm actually very happy that I did and learned this lesson now rather than later when someone dies
Honestly I could care less about the difference between reckless driving/speeding, but I need this for my job as reckless driving is considered a criminal offense, which will revoke my clearance and thus job
Would it be considered as 11-601(b)(09) - More than 29 mph above limit or 11-503 - Reckless Driving?
http://www.cyberdriveillinois.com/public ations/pdf_publications/dsd_dc19.pdf
Should I hire an attorney for this?
I'm willing to do community service, traffic school, fines, etc as long as I still have my job at the end of the day
They've taken my license and I have to show up in court in a month
Should I tell my insurance company about this right now or after the court session?
Also how much would you estimate the fines to be?
Once again, thank you very much for helping me out!!!
Another note, not justifying my speed or anything but I was driving on a wide open road without a car in sight for quite a distance
Would that still be considered reckless driving?
Yes, Reckless Driving is a Class A Misdemeanor which carries a possible sentence of up to one year in jail and a fine of up to $2,500.00, your license suspension time will be up to the judge and you should not talk with your insurance company until your get the final results...
