Aside from costs to meet those requirements, business owners also will be looking at paying a $75 application fee and $50 permit fee for each driver of the for hire vehicles.
Here is a run down on some of the regulations:
Surrey bicycles can only be rented to drivers aged 16 or older unless accompanied by an adult. The vehicle can only have a single gear, with cable-lever drum brakes.
Pedicabs are regulated similarly to bicycles. They have to have a headlight, pair of battery powered taillights and reflectors. The rules also would restrict the vehicles from navigating the roundabout but would allow them on the sidewalks near it in order to get from north to south beach.
Low speed, golf cart-type vehicles must have seatbelts and head stop and tail lamps. They would be restricted to roads with a speed limit of 35 mph or less, essentially everywhere on the beach aside from getting to Island Estates, where the speed limit along Memorial Causeway is 45 mph.

I need to get insurance coverage for a golf cart ?
Oct 01, 2009 by jamie | Posted in Insurance & Registration
I am renting a golf cart for thanksgiving weekend and the park we are going to requires it to be insured, who or where do I contact for more info??
The best way to get is to go for online quotes. Every auto insurance company insures it. just punch in your zip and you get quotes in minutes. Take quote from 3-4 companies and decide the best for you.

the rental company can probably use their policy to cover it(for a price, of course) because most companies do not write insurance polices for less than 6 months. If you have homeowner's insurance, call your agent; you may BE covered, and if not, you may be able to extend your liability for a pittance.

what all is needed to drive a golf cart in town?
Oct 03, 2007 by Joe Cool | Posted in Insurance & Registration
I live in a small town of about 500 and there are more golf carts then cars. Do golf carts need insurance, plates, and tags to be legal or just the orange triangel sign that i see on the back?
stop someone driving a golf cart and ask them, or call your local police department and ask them

depends on you live I live in Peachtree city home of all the golf carts. Here you must register get a tag, and be at least 15 to drive. Insurance is not required but recommended.

If it's a town of about 500, then I would just not behave in unpredictable ways/badly while driving. Don't drive like a moron, pull over and let cars pass, etc and it shouldn't be a problem. Markers, by reflective tape packages sold in many stores, should be put on your cart. And one of those slow moving vehicle (orange triangle) signs is probably a very smart if not required thing to have.

I have a friend with a golf cart, she let her insurance lapse.?
Jun 19, 2009 by Anne2 | Posted in Insurance & Registration
Here in the south we are allowed to drive golf carts around our neighbor hood and on some back roads. Now another friend wants to borrow it from her, to take his friends riding around in it. I told her that if he had an accident or the teens in the golf cart have an accident, she will be
liable for any accidents they have. And a back injury is hard to disprove, I feel you can lose your shirt over allowing this, Am I right? Thank You
Yes this would be correct. She would be liable for any injuries that occurred during the time of allowing teens to drive it around. You should also tell her to watch carefully to see the amount that are allowed on at one time, to ensure that it is not over the amount allowed! Golf carts are a form of motor vehicle, and therefore must be insured if it is off of the golf course. The other places must be insured, as when these vehicles are on the golf courses, they are insured under the company's act. I hope that this helps you.

The website below may help. From what I understand, a golf cart might be considered an Off Road Vehicle so I would also look under that.
The marshal suggested a two-year inspection by Sunman police should cost $25, then a sticker would be affixed to carts. Drivers would need to show proof of ownership and insurance. Head, tail and brake lights and turn signals would be required,
Drivers must be licensed and have insurance on the cart, which also has to pass a safety inspection and be modified from stock golf cart to be road worthy, she said. "All public roads and alleys in the city would be accessible, with restrictions," she
The event also includes dinner, cocktails, a golf cart and contests. Registration deadline is June 4. Information/registration: Kate Coughlin at (773) 445-3838, Ext. 206, or kicoughlin@comcast.net. Information: Visit the Beverly Arts Center, and more »
Golf cart drivers cannot drive at night unless they put headlights and rear lights on the carts, have a slow-moving vehicle sign on back of the cart, stay on roads which have 40 mph speed limits or less, have liability insurance on their vehicles and and more »
