Monroe Sensa-Trac shocks/struts. Daily Driver ok?
May 09, 2009 by Adam | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
Looking for a little guidance in purchasing a shock/strut combo. Will Monroe Sensa-Trac be ok for daily driver use. I will be putting them on an Audi A4 with sport suspension. Total cost after the rebate will be $260 shipped, I would be doing the install. The other option I'm looking at is Bilstein or KYB. Both are about $250ish more aka twice as much, and I'm thinking they are not worth the price for what I want. Thoughts, other options.......
well i will say the Monroes would be good. I do work at NAPA and i know sensa-trac is a good brand. I get a lot of calls for Monroe shocks they are pretty common. and they do have a three year full warranty

I was going to replace struts and was wondering what is the diff. between a Gabriel ultra shock that is about 60.00 and a Gabriel ready mount strut that is about 100.00 more. That is at Auto Zone.
Then at Advance they sell a monroe sensa-trac strut for 70.00, and they sell a Monroe gas-matic strut for 54.00.
I have a 04 grand prix, does it matter which one I put in?
The ultra shock is just the strut the ready mount is a shock and spring together it doesnt matter which one you put in they all work the same way

Best way to break in new Struts sooner?
Apr 14, 2008 by ÐąяҜ ẴνəהϋЄ | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
I just had a set of Monroe Sensa-trac Struts installed--supposedly the top of the line for Monroe--only thing is, it's been about a week and they're so stiff compared to the ones I had on originally even though they were old and going out.
Will I get my smooth ride back?
Any tips for getting these to ride smoother, sooner?

No there is no way to hurry up the process but they will soften up a little as the miles are put on.

What's your tire pressure? You can usually safely run tires at 27-28 psi, that will give your car a softer feeling ride compared to running tires at 32 psi or so.

You're not talking shock absorbers are you? Struts on a 1995 Buick Park Ave? Have you gone back to the garage that installed the struts and questioned them about your problem? I'd try that first.
