27.07.11
A 37-year-old Southfield mother was arrested Monday afternoon after police found her 1-year-old son alone in her car in a lot at 14 Mile and Orchard Lake Roads.
According to the report, a passer-by called 911 after watching the child screaming and alone in the car for 15 minutes. Officers arrived to find him buckled in his car seat; the driver's side window and a passenger side window were open a few inches, the report said.
Five minutes after police arrived, the mother showed up with another child, an infant, the report said. She told police she had left the older child in the car because he was sleeping and that she had only been gone 10 minutes, according to the report. She was arrested, and her husband arrived to take care of the children.

A dog left without food or water in a backyard on a day when temperatures soared to 95 degrees was taken from a home on Waldron, according to a police report.
The report said an anonymous tip July 20 led officers to the home, where they found the dog leashed to a tree. A neighbor said that since December, the dog often had been left outside in extreme cold and heat, without food or water, the report said. The dog was removed from the home, and a note was left with the homeowner explaining what happened, the report said.

When I get a cars front seat from a junk/scrap yard how would I make it into a seat for my desk?
remove the rails that make the seat go forward and backward cut a piece of 5/8 or 3/4 " plywood...remove the seat from a swivel and recline office chair drill and bolt the bottom of the office chair to the car seat using 5/16x1" carriage bolts

unscrew the screws in the seat and unscrew the bottom of the office chair and connect the two.

you will need to take it to a welding shop, measure and see how tall you want it. start with a 5 arm minimum caster base, then a tube for the riser, then mount to a swivel base. Then again you can find and old office chair strip the base from it and take it to the welding shop and have it mounted to the chair. Mac Tools sells a racing seat/office chair, you might give your local dealer a call. www.mactools.com

I work a lot out of my car and would like to have it renovated where can I have it done?

What I would like is to have my car refitted internally to allow a better working environment. Sort of like an office inside my car. My Ideas would include more power and ripping out the passenger seat and replacing it with a desk counsel. If anyone has ideas or knows where I can get this done please let me know.
i saw a old limo converted that way! good idea...go see a good body shop in town...

If a auto shop neglects my car etc ..?
Aug 25, 2010 by Luis | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
As of August I had to get a emissions test and failed it.
Gotten a flyer for a shop that did free tests if you repaired it there.
Went to the shop was half was happy with the price and decided to get it fixed there.
Left car there on Friday August 20 ,2010
Was supposed to get fixed and taken to emissions test.
That was known.
2 days pass, I call Monday August 23 ,2010
The lady at the desk told me this " The car is all fixed now , just needs to be ran and taken to get the emissions test done."
Ok.
Next day I get 4 calls her saying, "One little problem , your car has been impounded. I left it on the street and its been towed."She needed me to get it out because she was not the owner. I get to the impound lot and I check out my car, All on one side and EGGS all over it , and its been KEY'D....On the other side is little body damage.. Hood of the car has been key'd .... Back on bumper scraped..Now , I didnt find this out until I seen my car and the story was she took my car home.. Because the shop closed and she didnt have keys.....Now ... I called monday if you remember me saying that..The car has been impounded since sunday....
They lied...On top of alllll this , Her baby seat in the back seat.. Stroller in my trunk..
garbage all over the car....She's been using it the whole weekend.. Not just to run it .. For her own purposes.. They payed for all of the , and now still waiting for a call to see if there going to fix my body damage.. But , Do i have to pay for alll that still? So much time just to handle there HUGE problem.. Stress.. I love my car..
Seeing it like that was horrible..Some thing really fast needs to be done... This was the worst and only huge ordeal that happened to me where my jaw dropped. I dont need to expect some thing like that to happen everytime my car needs servicing..
Oh my friend they are liable for a whole lot more than the damages. Basically she stole your car, and you definetly have grounds to call the police and file charges. Unauthorized use of a motor vehicle will be the charge. Not to mention the other stuff..If you dont want to see anyone go to jail, then offer them this, ask them to return your car in its former condition, or you will indeed call the police and file charges. This company has done you wrong not only as a customer, but a citizen, and this company should be turned into the better business bureau, as well as the chamber of commerce in your area. And like you said , you need to do this quickly, but I would imagine that you will get flack from these people, as it already seems to me that they are a shady people, so watch your back when you go there to complain, and also take an officer with you if possible, this way they will see that you mean business, and they will refrain from being boystrous with you. And you also can file with small claims court in your area, if they dont want to comply

Anytime you bring in your property to be repaired the person or company has a responsibility to take care of it. If you brought your car to be repaired the same rule applies. The shop should have insurance for it when it is on their property or in their building. If they don't then you can sue them civilly to reclaim for damages. If the shop allowed someone to drive it then they are again responsible for damage and or fines if they got them or allowed someone to do it. A shop is only allowed to test drive a vehicle to determine what is wrong and or make sure it was repaired right. That doesn't mean they can use it for personal business unless you said go do it. So legally you should not have to pay for anything they incurred or allowed. But you may have to sue them civilly to get any money. You should get a statement from the tower for what the condition of the car was when it was towed. Take pictures of it including the inside.

What is the name of this car movie?
Oct 17, 2009 by jay | Posted in Buying & Selling
Ok, it's gonna be hard to explain but some of you sales guys may remember.
This movie was a typical used car lot movie, not "used cars" with kurt russell. One of the lines is "Is this your signature? Congratulations, you bought a car"
In one scene, a woman posing as a buyer test drives a car, she gets it on with the salesman and tell him to get in the back seat so they can (you know), but she locks the door and steals the car.
In another scene, a customer wouldn't come in the showroom so they take the desk outside to do numbers.
Anybody remember this movie?
no, neither one. I wish i had more info, this is the movie the guys made me watch when i first got in the business.
Thats a tough one Jay
Could it be Cadillac Man with Robin Williams?

ok, im already 33 years old, I worked in banks all my life and it's an ok job. but I am tired of it, tired of seating on a desk all day with a phone.
I want to be an automotive technician (mechanic) I don't know anything about cars but I love it. If i could to a training school and get just basic certification. can I start working right away? is it hard to get a job like that after im certified or they prefer people with lots of experience....
once again, it's not really the money or the need because i make ok money like 35k a year but i want a big change in my life.
any suggestions, advices
well, then can you change one wheel bearing for a hyundai 98 elantra (front tire) will give you 40 bucks sir. r u in arizona
I've been doing this for more than 30 years; automotive industry isn't what it used to be.
You have to keep up with ever changing demands, especially electronics, transmission, engines and drive-ability. You cannot afford to fall behind; if you do then you won't be making any money.
Right now it is bad time to become automotive technician.Nobody is making money. The economy isn’t that good and many people cannot afford to have their vehicles repaired.
There are few good Technical Schools but they aren’t worth a penny because I’ve seen student graduates from them and ‘expect” to make more than 18 dollars an hour, unfortunately, it doesn’t work that way. You have to start from the bottom and work your way up.
I've also seen them excel in tests and quizzes but failed miserably when it comes to fix the vehicles.
On top of that, many dealerships preferred technician that already has manufacture trainings, it is a lot more than basic certifications.
If you're GM certified tech, then good luck finding any job beside GM dealership. Ford won't hire you, Dodge won't hire you, and the list goes on and on or you can find a job in auto repair shop but most of them don't give you good pay and benefits.
Nowadays, good technicians are hard to find because most inexperience techs are just parts replacer, they really don't take their time and diagnosis any vehicle properly.
Example, Oxygen sensor codes, 99% of them [including internet expert] would simply replace oxygen sensor.
Good tech will interpret the code description and find out why and then fixed the problem.
Bottom line, good technician can easily make over 50k a year that because this particular tech has the will and motivation to keep up ever changing automotive industry.
If you have that attitude then go for it otherwise seek different job.
