99 Ford Powerstroke Chips and Programmers?

I have a 99 Ford Powerstroke 7.3L and 6 Spd. Manual. I was wondering if anyone had any input of what kind of programmer or chip would be good for my truck. I am stuck between a Superchips Flashpaq and Edge Evolution Programmer, but would be open to any suggestions. I am not looking for massive amounts of power gains, but more interested in increased mileage.

Thanks, Brandon

My uncle has the 99.5 2wd powerstroke with superchip and gets VERY bad fuel millage. He was better at stock. Edge would diffinatley be better. But make sure the programmer has adjust on the fly capabillities. I have the TS chip, easy on the pocket book with 2-3mpg boost and I have 4 different driving setting an can adjust to whenever I feel like it....no stopping to hook up the programmer and adjust. Make sure the progammer you buy doesnt throw a lot a fuel, like the the superchp, at your engine. The kills your mpg and raises your egt's dramatically. Make sure you have gauges so you dont fry anything.

Banks makes good stuff, Bully dog, edge, all have good stuff for your truck. I am not sure if BD diesel makes programers or not. Might check into it. I would say EDGE is a better product. Just my opinion. There all pretty good as far as programers go.

Go with a SCT programmer, hands down the best! Edge products have been known to be hard on transmissions.

they make custom tunes.

Power Module question?

I just installed the Edge Evolution power module in my 2004 F250 Powerstroke 6.0, it has awsome power and torque now, my concern is the large amount of black smoke that it is creating now..How do I remedy this problem?

Keep your foot out of it. The black smoke is unburned fuel. I am not familiar with the EDGE EVOLUTION, but if it has adjustments, dial the injectors back a bit.
If it is black, and coming out of the pipe, it hasn't burned, and is costing you money.

Good Luck

What is better Superchips or edge?

I am considering getting a tuner / programmer for my 1997 ford f250 7.3 powerstroke. i was wondering if anyone had an opinion or experience with either the superchips max microtuner or edge evolution programmer. thanks

I wouldn't go with eithier id gt a Bullydog programmer
