cummins 6bt on the ground my kids love it.

I need visual proof that dodge made a 1991 ram van with the 6bt cummins turbo diesel motor in it from factory?

I want to put a 5.9 cummins in my 95 maxi. I just need proof that it will fit in. I know that dodge made a 91 ram van with this motor but i cant find any picts or info anywhere


i have never seen or heard of one from the factory on that one,but it can be installed the measurements are about the same,and it should work,the wiring will be a night mare though and so will the fuel supply,other than that it should fit in and work,there may be some cutting and welding too do,there usually is on some things,good luck.


I believe your mistaken on that.I have never seen or heard of one and I used to own a 91 ram with cummins.My friend was looking into putting one from a cummins truck into a 318 powered truck.The mounting position measured the same from the firewall to the mounts.The only real difference was in the front radiator mount.The radiator set back flush in the Cummins truck and was out about 3 inches in the 318 truck.I'm pretty sure you'll be able to put one in without to much fuss.The worst part will be doing the wiring.

What would be a good prop size for a 28ft jefferson skiff with a 6bt cummins and a borg warner 2:1 reduction.?

Ok I have a jefferson lafite skiff that is somewhere between 26-28ft and I have a 2:1 borg warner velvet drive. I am planning on putting a cummins 6bt engine in the boat and was wondering what size propeller to go with. I know the borg warner clutch is a little light for this engine but think it may last for awhile until I can get a new clutch. Does anyone have a similar engine/clutch/boat combo that can give me any pointers? What rpms should I be looking at with a 2:1 reduction.


This is truly a guessing game. Do you know what engine or prop was in this Skiff? Assuming that it's not newly built. My best guess would be 15 Diameter by 15 or 17" pitch. I'm allowing for some operator judgment in order to not overload the Velvet drive, yet give some performance. The torque curve is pretty flat over 2500 rpm. So it could take a larger pitch, but you'd be replacing the drive pretty quick.\

Edit: Jefferson is still building boats in Louisiana. You can contact them online and they might have a recommendation.


First u need a 1 3/4 or larger shaft or U will snap the prop shaft.Measure from the shaft end to the bottom of the boat take off 2" for clearance. that will give U the diameter now the pitch will be the real Q . 2600 RPM is what is need at full throttle with a full load. here is a site U can look at.might help.

Will the 88-98 GM 3500 series front end be strong enough to support a B series cummins diesel swap?

I want to swap a 6bt cummins into an 88-98 1 ton chevrolet. I was wondering if the independent front suspension (ifs) would be heavy duty enough to support the weight of the engine. Or will it wear the ball joints and tie rods out prematurely?


it should be since it can support a duramax diesel or big block gas engine, your just replacing the diesel with a another pickup truck diesel, so it shouldn't be a problem, unless the cummings is much heavier than the diesel that came in it, but it shouldn't be that much heavier, so no real problem


I dont see why it wouldn't people put snow plows on them.You may need to give the torsion bars a little tweak.
