Pete's Tire Barns comes to Montpelier
MONTPELIER Theres a new tire company in town Petes Tire Barns Inc.
With the opening of its Montpelier location, the New England tire chain headquartered in Orange, Mass., now has four Vermont stores and 17 in New England.
The shop is at 122 Gallison Hill Road, where GCR Tire Center operated until it closed earlier this year.
Manager Cliff Fleury has worked in that location for eight years.
He said that Peter Gerry, the founder and owner of Petes Tire Barns, is one of the nicest guys youll ever meet.
Right now, Fleury said, its just him working there, but the plan is to have a shop with five or six employees.
He likes big jobs, like tractor-trailers, but Fleury said he wont turn down any job whether its new radials for a Subaru or a wheelbarrow tire.
Petes Tire Barns says it aims to be green, too.
The company has its own solar-powered retreading facility to reuse and recycle used tires.
