Bosch spark plugs that do not require gapping?

I am thinking about replacing my spark plugs by myself for the first time. I have seen spark plugs by Bosch that do not require gapping. Are they just as good, or even better, than the standard ones that require gapping?
they come pre gapped, BUT i have come across some that had been hit or damaged and had no gap, some had too much gap
i think its always a good idea to double check, on any brand plug, just in case

Most of the BOSCH platinium spark plugs are pre-gapped and cannot be easily re-gapped. It might be a good idea to check the clearance between the plug contacts, but if the gap has opened up or electrodes have burned away, you would replace the plugs with new ones.
What kind of car are we talking about?

"pre-gapped" plugs should still be checked before installation. If someone dropped one while handling them, the gap could be knocked out of whack. The parts store counter person should help show you how to use a gapping tool if you need. Always check them anyway...

They are suppose to be better. There have been other plugs like that on the market in the past. "Fire Ring" for one, can't remember who put them out. They certainly wont hurt and may increase mileage and or performance some, though I doubt much on the performance end on a stock engine. For those that already answered I believe he is speaking of these plugs, "power hitter", no gapping.

There are just as good if they have the correct gap. You are still better just buying normal plugs and gapping them yourself. Only takes a second and you can buy a gauge for under buck.

I put Bosch platinum plus plugs in my wife's 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe at 60,000 mi.. At 78,000 the check engine light came on. A code reader said #1 cylinder misfire. The dealer said it was because only NGKs will run in a Hyundai. Could this be true?
nope any plug can go bad at any time and youy can use whatever kind one wishes too dealer is yanking your chain cause he wants your money Bosch platinum plus plugs or any other not much diferants so you know which one is bad and it will be either plug or wire bad most like easy to fix either one at home didnt need a dealer for that,,, sorry but really dealers most offen highest place to go.. do a check call any shop and ask about a price for a job then call dealer you will see you did alright with bosch

Pull out plug and check, compare to another cylinder, just by looking at it you can see what is going on. I never heard of only one brand working since basically they are all the same thing. certain companies want you to use only certain brands, like GM says Delco parts, and Ford says Motorcraft parts, etc, most imports use NGK as their spark plug.
Cylinder misfire code can be more in depth than just a plug, yes the plug could be bad, but the wire might be bad, you can check resistance on the wire to see if its good or not, or the coil could be problem.
I wouldn't listen to the dealer on that personally, he might be right but that's the first instance of ever hearing that, if that was the only plug that works then why does it cross over to bosch or autolite, etc....

sounds like your plug folded. Bosch should replace it for free they have good CS. just pull the plug out and check it out. if the plug is fine then you may have a timing problem
and the dealer is feeding you a line. to my knowledge it the package says it is compatible then it is. the dealer just wants you to buy the recommended plugs from them so you pay more

the dealer is wrong on that. if that was the case all of them would be bad. check the plug wire and put another plug in. you could have got hold of a bad plug. or you have a bad wire. make sure the wire is all the way on the plug.

Nah, dealers try to make you believe crap like that because that's probably the sparkplug THEY have in stock for that application. NGKs are good plugs but any comparable plug of the same size and proper designation for your vehicle is fine.

If the bosch plug were spec to the car then NO. The dealer can only put NGK's if thats what the warranty calls for. but i know for sure that plugs wont cause a misfire unless the plug is damaged, gapped wrong, wire is loose, wire is open.

I can't begin to tell you how many misfire/drivability issues I've solved
by simply removing Bosch Platinum Plugs. Bosch Supers work great
but I have personally seen hundreds of drivability issues caused by these plugs. The dealer in this case is 100% Absolutely Correct. But I would also look over the secondary
side of the ignition while i was there. Did you break or crack
the plug when it was installed?

not true. but the plug could be fouled up. what i would think is more likely the problem is the leads are stuffed. you might want to get them checked if that is not the prob then it could be distributor may be cracked dont bother looking as you more than likely wont see it. if this does not fix the prob then further checks need to be made

i have had issues with some bosch and ngk plugs a couple times in the past. was the plug replaced and the problem resolved? that code for a cyl 1 misfire is just that. its not a cyl 1 spark plug defect. is the #1 plug easy to get to, if so,look at it closely and compare it to a cylinder w/o a code and see if they look IDENTICAL.also look down the side of the plug for a black stripe which may indicate a carbon track or misfire. does this vehicle have coil over plug or spark plug wires? check the coil boot or plug wire boot for a white or gray line that would indicate a short to ground

The spark plugs are running just fine, but someone said that GM's use delco spark plugs. Is anything going to happen because I chose to use Bosch spark plugs? I chose those because the associate said I didn't have to gap them.
i own a repair shop,and you used the best spark plug that money can buy in it,,there way better than ac-delco,are,and they will out last them also,,you don't need to change those though,,you did a good thing for your car,,drive it,,there good for about 40 thousand miles of driving,,good luck i hope this help,s.

Bosch are better. You can run any kinda spark plug you want there are many brands. You are fine.

Brand isn't important as long as the size and threading are correct.
As for "gapping" them - that you should have done even though the associate said you didn't "have to." Proper gapping insures long-term performance of the "spark" ability.

as long as you use a good grade plug you shouldn't have any problems. you should always check the gap on your plugs when there put in. if you check yours you will see there not all the same.

If it is running fine do not worry about it. I always use what the manufacturer would put in a vehicle. But again, if it is running fine, do not worry about it.

gm comes with delco you can use any brand. but bosch sparkplugs are very poor quality, i would use a/c or ngk. etc. bosch plugs break alot. more than any other brand i have ever seen. ngk are really good quality plugs. get platinums.

just for some future wisdom always check your gap. you never know if someone dropped the plug or what have you. not to mention not every car is gapped the same. so always check. as for plugs, not all plugs are the same. there are some plugs built w/ better metals,ect for performance(spark) but for your application you won't ruin the car. i would check your gap if you know how.

Brand name Vs. Generic. General Motors always uses AC Delco parts. I've gotten 100k miles on a set of them. Many will say Bosch is better, Some will give you a different brand name, The worst thing that will happen is they might wear out sooner. I've never seen a measurable difference from one brand of spark plugs to another.
I do believe Bosch makes a better auto part, on average than most other manufacturers for the average street vehicle. But then I may be biased, I was an engineer for Bosch's Braking systems for several years

I wonder if Bosch plugs, particularly the Platinum +2 and Platinum +4, are garbage.
I ask because i have seen and heard many reports of the spark part being sucked out into the cylinder. Why would that happen if Bosch plugs werent bad...

i wouldn't suggest those, because they don't have a stright shot to the cylinder, i use the E3.36 E3 Spark Plug with Diamond Fire Technology

Can i put these bosch platinum tip plugs in my 91 integra ls? or should i use the recommended NGK or is there better? Also ive had these plugs that i bought for another car long time ago but there still brand new in box ( THE BOSCH) < can i use them in the integra? or do i have to go to pepboys and ask them specifically for my car? does it make a difference?
The plugs should be specifically for your car. They might interchange, but for the $16 it'll cost you just get the new ones. That way you will know what they need to be gapped at too. As far as what plugs to use, any should work that are for your car. Bosch and AutoLite are my favorites, but use whatever you want.
