are splitfire spark plugs recomended for perfomance cars?

The value of splitfire or multi electrode plugs is debatable. So long as you have a standard plug gapped properly and the spark is up to specs you will see no improvement in the more expensive plugs.

There's a new spark plug out by the name of : E3 which has a modified split fire plug gap. I would recommend trying a few in your power equipment ( lawnmowers, weed whackers, and chainsaws). Lowes has them.

As for performance cars the answer is no. GK, Auto lite, Champion and AC Del co seems to be the most popular. Most racing spark plugs have side gaps, platinum and iridium conventional gaped cold plugs.

The name of the game today is iridium plugs for longevity purposes in all cars. Iridium melts @4449 F / 2454 C. Platinum melts @ 3224 F / 1773 C.
From this you can see why the big change over within the past few yrs. Iridium also mechanically very hard almost a ceramic.

I have seen a few cars that had splitfire plugs in them that would not run until I replaced them with OEM spark plugs. Whenever I had a car come in from the used car lot and it had splitfires in it, I always recommended that they be replaced. I would not run them even if I was paid to. In my opinion, NGK are some of the best plugs out there. Multiple electrode plugs will not provide any better performance unless the ignitions system is upgraded to something like a multiple spark system like MSD, and the coil is upgraded to a higher output coil. Then I would still stick with NGK.

Splitfire spark plugs?

Do these spark plugs really increase horsepower and gas mileage, along with lasting 50,000 miles, like they state on their website...

Its possible they COULD increase HP and mileage by a small percentage with the correct setup. They could on the other hand- blow an engine up given the right setup .EX. If you took a boosted engine that was on the verge of running lean and added that hotter spark you would be asking for big trouble.Just stick to regular copper plugs if your not engine savvy.

and yes they will last longer because they are made from platinum coated copper which holds up better to heat than regular copper.

They help produce horsepower easier as they create a better spark and expose it to the air/fuel mixture better.

They dont create horsepower, it opens up the gate to help make it easier.

I have used the splitfire plugs for a few years and they work well.

Dont go with the +2 or those other ones they have for $5each. They dont make a difference for the price.

Bosch Platinum ones are great too, stick with the regular and not the +2 or larger ones they have for the same reason as above.

No it is a gimmick, I have used them and see no advantage over your good platinum plug. Anything to make money.... anything....

Has anyone heard of the splitfire injector spark plug?

They say it sends a bigger spark to ignite more fuel in the cylinder to give more power and fuel economy. Has anyone tried it?

It's prob a bunch of bull.
I don't give thumbs down... I have heard that more fuel can get burned with a larger spark, but will a house full of propane get blown-up better by a candle than a spark from a light switch?

you are right, it is a marketing gimmick

there are some plugs that have 2 and 3 electrodes, they are designed to allow more complete combustion for exhaust emissions only

the point is this, little spark or big spark, once the flame front is started, the spark size becomes meaningless

I bought some 15yrs ago they were very pricey but i got better economy and my truck ran a lot better . i swore by them they have been on the market for a lot of years we even used them in the boat ..not a scame

If have heard of a regular splitfire spark plug. Had them put into a 86 chevy camaro with a 2.8 v6 and the car burned them up real fast. The engine just was made for them.

they got quad too and trio but only 1 pin ( spark )
the ground is 2,3 and 4
if you hold 1,2,3, or 4 grounds and you get hit by lighting or dead
hope you understand positively

98 2.5 - 4 banger - in ranger has 8 plugs 2 pins -2 grounds

SplitFire is a well-established company and has a very good product.

Yes (although it's called a "multi electrode" spark plug). They are used in my Mazda RX8. It's like a standard spark plug with a single centre electrode, but has four of the "tabs" round the outside instead of the normal one. These are a currently available spark plug, but you may not be able to get the right ones to suit your car. They are all different lengths of thread (the "reach") and different sizes of thread, as well as different heat ratings. You would have to do a lot of research and cross-referencing to see if there is one that will match your original spark plug specifications. The NGK website may be of some use to you.

I heard of them and seen them.Over rated, nothing replaces doing regular maintenance to offset wear.Trying to recover wear and using gimmicks is fruitless.Prevent before it is irreversible.

Ran them years ago in my Impala. Ran great on the highway but had a noticable problem at idle. Check with a GM tech whom said that the plugs were not suited for my car. Had the proper heat range and thread depth but wrong resistance which made for a random miss, it was slight but there. The GM tech told me and a friend of mine to switch back to the plug type (AC Delco) that were factory issued for the car. Bought new ones from the auto parts store and no more issue.

IMHO they are over rated for passenger cars. They may do some good in the high performance and racing application.

Two words: SNAKE OIL.

These plugs are junk. Seen lots of problems with them and in fact didn't even know they were still on the market. The theory by which these are supposed to work is actually against the laws of physics so you know they are junk.

Why did Splitfire discontinue the Split V spark plugs?

What are the best spark plugs for 85-07 Corolla?

I've tried Splitfire, NGK, Bosch Platinum+2 and +4. I noticed a BIG difference in performance with Bosch Platinum+4, the engine (a late model 1997 1.6L 4A-FE) has a noticeably impressive growl (the pistons were quite clean after the first 100 miles). I also noticed the best fuel economy with the splitfire plugs (versus Bosch Platinum+2, also take into consideration that I was driving my car to school during the coldest hours of the morning on the interstate while there was very low traffic). NGK plugs tended to do just as well as the nippon-denso factory plugs. I guess the only other factor regarding these plugs might be longevity of the actual plug, most of which should last at least 50,000 miles (but that always depends on the duration of how, when, where the car was driven). Let me know what your experience has been with any plug. I look forward to hearing from you.

i always use a Bosch platinum plug in about everything i tune up,i seem to have better luck from them than anything else, they also last 3 times longer in most any vehicle ,good luck on it.
