Hard to crank Duramax diesel?

I have a 2003 Chevy Duramax and have gotten great service out of it. Recently it has started to spin over for several seconds before it cranks. It allways cranks but has turned over as much as 20 seconds before it does. Once it cranks it runs great. I have a Superchips Cortex programmer, free flow exhaust, and K&N filter. Could it be water in the fuel. It has been doing it for about a month. Seems to be worse when the motor is hot.
Hard cranking like that and seeming worse when it is hot inclines me to think that the fuel shutoff solenoid is going bad. I would also have the fuel pressure checked at the pump . If that engine is equipped with glow plugs, Have them checked too

replace your fuel filter if you have not yet, and if that does not cure it then check your fuel pump, also might check your glow plugs too if they are in good working condition to.
