In addition to these great shared capabilities, each new model offers unique features:
First seen on the new 1 Series, the signal indicators have also been placed on the side mirrors. The car also showcases corona rings with full LED treatment which are different from the current generation E90 due to a new design and a “squared” look. The headlights and the kidney grille will not follow the design lines seen on the recently unveiled 2012 BMW 1 Series , a controversial model among BMW fans.
At the back, the 2012 BMW 3 Series brings out a masculine design with a subtle trunk lid and the L-shaped taillights.
The interior design has been reworked as well. The standalone LCD screen seen first on the new 6 Series and now the F20 1er, made its way into premium midsize sedan. The dashboard, controls and gauges with Black Panel technology are derived from the more luxurious 5 Series Sedan and Gran Turismo.
For the U.S. market, BMW will offer the usual six-cylinder turbocharged engines, but a new four-cylinder banger is expected to come in the future as well. A diesel version of the 3 Series sedan will also be included in the U.S. offerings.
