2012 North American International Auto Show Review
23.02.12
2012 proved to be another exciting year for the North American International Auto Show in Detroit with many new production and concept cars being unveiled.
It started off with the North American car and truck of the year awards with the honors going to the Range Rover Evoque for truck of the year and the Hyundai Elantra for car of the year. Now, Hyundai has made some excellent cars in recent years, and the Elantra is no exception, but I easily consider it third among its other two competitors for the award; Motor Trend’s car of the year ,Volkswagen Passat and Car and Driver ten best winner Ford Focus.
Production Debuts
The following are slated for North American production and should be in dealerships by year end.
2013 Ford Fusion
Following the “One Ford” imitative, whose aim is to have vehicles based on a global platform, the new Ford Fusion has a design similar to the Focus and Fiesta, which were also developed under “One Ford”.

In Ontario, what restrictions are there for classic cars in relations to the exhaust system?
Oct 23, 2008 by Nick B | Posted in Other - Cars & Transportation
In Ontario, Canada, what restrictions are there for a classic car (20 years or older) in reference to the exhaust?
Would it be legal to cut off the exhaust right before the cat converter and run 2.25" pipe straight back?
I know after a car is classic, there is no more e-test. I just don't know if this is legal?
From the Ontario Drive Clean Programme:
"Drive Clean is focusing more strongly on vehicles that are most likely to pollute and has ended the rolling exemption that allowed light-duty vehicles to leave the Drive Clean program when they are 20 years old." This is effective with the 1988 model year.
What you "know" is old news, sorry. So you have to maintain the exhaust system, unless your vehicle is 1987 or older.
However, the fact it doesn't have to pass the test doesn't mean you can just cut the converter out. Federal laws in Canada and the US state it is illegal to remove a properly functioning catalytic converter. You may remove a defective or dead converter, but, if the car came with a converter, you then have to replace it. Many motorists have put in straight pipes, and found out when they went to sell the car, they couldn't, or they got caught in a roadside safety check and were issued fix-it tickets. You can't count on getting away with thumbing your nose at the law. If your car needed a converter when it was built, it still needs it now, the engine hasn't magically changed the level of pollutants produced.

Yes you can. I find the most fun in doing it yourself though. I'm a classic car fan and spend a fortune on bits making them stop better and ride better. I'm into the older Fords though.

If you need to sell quickly, now is the time of year that they have the car shows or cruise nights. Go to the shows with the for sale signs. Mosyt of these people know how to buy and sell for you. I belong to several cruise night clubs and they are some great people there. You never know wehn someone will say "I had one of those cars and i wish i had it back"

What is the law regarding taking classic cars to Jamaica ? ?
Oct 17, 2008 by Mark D MC Apachey | Posted in Other - Cars & Transportation
I grew up in Jamaica and remember the good old British cars that roamed the roads, providing interesting and rich character to cars, in comparison to the modern Japanese imports that seem to litter the streets out there.
I wanted to take some of my British cars from the 60s and 70s with me when I go back in a years time, but have read somewhere that the government only allows cars 3 years old or younger to be shipped out there, with some exception to classic cars, approaved by the Jamaica Classic car club, which I cannot find any telephone number, address or e-mail for.
So, I want to know if I can take my classic cars into the country ?
