AAA warns drivers to watch out for potholes this spring, even with mild winter

AAA: POTHOLES TO SPRING UP – PROTECT YOUR CAR, AND WATCH FOR WORK ZONES TOO
WILMINGTON, DE (February 17, 2012) – Roads usually get more ripped up from a severe winter, but this season has been milder – will it be a boon for motorists, with fewer potholes? There are still sure to be some tire-rattling craters out there, and AAA Mid-Atlantic has some expert advice on how to protect your car. Plus, our relatively mild winter could mean work zones popping up in the spring.
“Even with a milder winter, we’re sure to see some potholes cropping up” said Jim Lardear, Director of Public and Government Affairs for AAA Mid-Atlantic. “Potholes are not only vexing and nerve-rattling to motorists, they are also a safety threat. You can lose control of your vehicle if you hit a pothole, possibly leading to a crash, and it’s just a dangerous to swerve to avoid a pothole. Slow down, and be extra alert, so you can be safe and avoid damage to your car as well.”
AAA named title-rights sponsor of inaugural event at Gateway Motorsports Park
23.05.12
NHRA announced today an expansion of its long-standing relationship with the Automobile Club of Southern California, as the company has agreed to become the title-rights sponsor of the AAA Insurance NHRA Midwest Nationals at Gateway Motorsports Park near St. Louis. The inaugural event will take place Sept. 28-30 and is the third of six races in the NHRA Full Throttle Countdown to the Championship.
“The Automobile Club of Southern California has grown to become a very significant and important partner of NHRA,” said Tom Compton, NHRA president. “The race entitlement provides a tremendous platform for AAA Missouri to market its insurance and member services to NHRA’s loyal fan base in the greater St. Louis area.”
The Auto Club is entrenched in NHRA Drag Racing at all levels of the sport. The relationship also includes naming rights for Auto Club Raceway at Pomona, entitlement rights of the Automobile Club of Southern California NHRA Finals held at Auto Club Raceway at Pomona, entitlement of the AAA Texas NHRA Fall Nationals in Dallas, sponsorship of the Auto Club Road to the Future Award annually recognizing the sport’s Professional rookie of the year, and presenting sponsorships of the Wally Parks NHRA Motorsports Museum, the Holley NHRA National Hot Rod Reunion in Bowling Green, Ky., and the popular California Hot Rod Reunion at Auto Club Famoso Raceway in Bakersfield.

Do I have to purchase an AAA membership if I want to get AAA auto insurance?
May 15, 2009 by johnlusf | Posted in Insurance & Registration
I've had AAA insurance for about 3 years now and when I initially signed up, the insurance agent told me that I had to have AAA membership in order to purchase AAA auto insurance. I used my AAA membership maybe once these 3 years and w/ my financial situation deteriorating, I'd like to not renew my AAA membership this year but keep my AAA auto insurance. Possible?
johnlusf, For auto insurance the easiest method to get a free quote is do a auto policy comparison. Be sure to choose the same coverage amounts, you can get an accurate quote to compare against others. Use the same zip code, car make/model, mileage and driving history to make sure you get an apples to apples comparison. To get fast auto insurance quotes, go to http://www.goodinternetdeals.com/Auto-In surance.html and you can compare the major auto insurance companies.

If I purchase auto insurance from AAA, am I automatically enrolled in AAA roadside assistance?
Feb 15, 2008 by Jordan | Posted in Insurance & Registration
When I purchased AAA auto insurance last year, I was sent an AAA membership card with an explanation of benefits. Now that my policy is up for renewal, AAA membership sent me another card with a bill. What gives?
Jordan get it and if possible put other members of the family on it and spouse.
Now, if you work 30-40 miles away from your home, you might want to get the 50 miles or more AAA roadside assistance.
Once I was about 40 miles away from home when my car stalled in a 100 degreee heat. I had roadside assistance, BUT it was way over the mileage. So if I wanted my car towed, it would cost $120!!!!! So I got the more mileage coverage. It is cheaper and better than paying extra and then a taxi tooo boot.

You have to be enrolled in their roadside benefit program in order to have their insurance. You can have the card without the insurance, but not the insurance without the card.
Ask & I might tell | Feb 15, 2008
1st year was free. Roadside assistance does not come with the insurance. Sorry. I have had AAA insurance for 8 years and only had roadside assistance for the first 2 they still insure me though so I don't think you have to have roadside assistance for insurance unless the rules have changed.
rachel s | Feb 15, 2008
Yes, but you have to pay extra.
I filled out an on-line form, got a quote, and went to their office to sign the paperwork. AFTER I payed for the road service, they THEN informed me that the price of the ins. would be higher than quoted.
HUH????supposedly, I made a mistake on the form. B.S. I told them to cram their insurance, but kept the roadside service for a year. (and didn't use it, by the way)

You must be a AAA member in order to purchase insurance from AAA. Most likely, what happened was your agent enrolled you in the AAA club when you signed up for the auto insurance.
As has been said by others, they are two separate issues.
The AAA membership gives you roadside assistance,
5 miles of free towing in the basic membership, maps, discounts at participating retailers, etc.
The AAA insurance does not come with roadside assistance, because ... why, you have AAA membership to begin with, that's your roadside assistance coverage.

My AAA auto ins comp.stills owes me $1200 how can I get them to pay me?
Nov 25, 2010 by LORI | Posted in Insurance & Registration
I was in a car wreck. I was told I would receive 2 checks. After 2 weeks I got one check. Now after 2 weeks I called them and, was told they are mailing me a Q&A form and to send them the title. Today received a letter stating I have to send them a completed Medicare reporting form. I do not have Medicare. They say now that additional time will be required to investigate and evaluate my claim. This was settled weeks ago. I feel that they are treating me unfairly...HELP!! Lori
The Medicare reporting form is a new Federal requirement that all insurance companies are required to do. This is being rolled out by every company across the country. You will be required to provide some basic info so they can properly report the info needed to the government. As for your checks, it sounds as though your car was totaled. They will send you total loss paperwork to complete and you will return this with your title. Once they receive all of the paperwork necessary to complete the processing of your claim then they will send you the second check. (They hold the second check to be sure all this paperwork is completed and returned.)

Question about AAA auto insurance discount?
Sep 04, 2009 by Fran | Posted in Insurance & Registration
I am a student and recently my family switched to AAA auto insurance. I got a good student discount from my most recent grades. On the paperwork, it says that our policy is good for 1 year. Will I still have to turn in this new semester's grades? My grades from last semester gives me a discount for the full year right?
Thank you!
My experience with that discount is that once it was in place I was never asked again. We never changed insurance companies. My assumption is that you've proven yourself for the term of the policy. They can ask you any time to re-verify your grades but as my experience dictates - they rarely do.
PopeFred | Sep 04, 2009
I believe every year you will have to report your grades/GPA in order to keep the good student discount. The best way to know for sure is to call and find out. I know with my insurance thats the policy (I don't have AAA).
