AAA provides these fuel-saving tips and advice to drivers:
Properly inflate tires
Only 17 percent of cars have all four tires properly inflated, yet the U.S. Department of Energy reports that proper tire inflation can improve fuel economy by up to three percent. Check tire pressures at least once a month, and also make sure it’s done correctly; a survey found 85 percent of motorists don’t know how to properly check tire pressures. Check the pressures when the tires are cold and have not been driven recently. Tires should be inflated to levels recommended by the vehicle manufacturer, not the pressure levels stamped on the tire sidewall. The proper pressure levels can be found on a sticker on the driver’s side door jamb or in the owner’s manual.
Police Commission Relaxes 30-day Car Impound Policy for Unlicensed Drivers
23.05.12
The Los Angeles Police Commission Tuesday approved a new policy for impounding the vehicles of unlicensed drivers , allowing offenders who have valid identification, car registration and proof of insurance to avoid a mandatory 30-day impound.
Under the policy, which was approved on a 4-1 vote, drivers who are at fault in an accident, or have prior convictions for driving unlicensed, will not qualify for a shortened impound.
City Councilman Mitch Englander, who represents District 12 including Chatswort, has been an outspoken critic of changing the department's impound policy. He was not immediately available for comment.
Police Chief Charlie Beck, who proposed the policy with the backing of immigrants' rights groups and Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, said the policy change was an attempt to eliminate confusion by officers in the field over two conflicting laws regarding when to impound a vehicle and for how long.
The LAPD impounded about 30,000 cars last year. About 85 percent of those were for violations of a state vehicle code that mandates a 30-day impound.

AAA auto insurance review?
Apr 18, 2011 by Frodo Baggins | Posted in Insurance & Registration
I am thinking of switching auto insurance companies. I always get very low quotes from AAA, but I don't know anyone that has AAA insurance and would like to hear some reviews from anyone that has used them.
If I don't get any good reviews, I am thinking of switching to State Farm instead.
(both of them have lower rates than my current company)
autoinsurance.bebto.com - I switched to this car insurance from them, cause it gives much cheaper rates in my area.

When I go looking for replacement car insurance is a quite simple way to save on car expenses. You can get a easy estimate at websites they usually give you competing prices.
I know people who have used and recommend http://www.LowRateToday.com

Auto Insurance - Progressive vs AAA?
Jan 25, 2010 by Mayo D | Posted in Insurance & Registration
A friend in California got a quote from AAA which is about $350 cheaper than his current insurance from Progressive. He's considering switching but would like to get some feedback from switching?
Basically, the question is this:
1) Who is better - AAA or Progressive?
2) How much is it to register with AAA (you have to register before you can purchase insurance)
What is a good car insurance company?
Sep 18, 2007 by confidential0908 | Posted in Insurance & Registration
Since I started driving 9 years ago I have had Liberty Mutual car insurance. I'm not happy with them right now. I was in an accident 6 months ago and they refused to fight it for me. In 9 years I have never had an accident before. I called AAA auto insurance and they gave me a quote. I also called Allstate and they also gave me a quote. These quotes are including the accident that I was in. Which company would you go with? I'm rulling out Mercury.
I'm located in California
Alfa if you are in Alabama.... State Fram is a good one.....@

I had Allstate and rates went up in 6months..they said everyones went up but thats besides the point lol.. they do have a good accident forgiveness...for every year you arent in an accident they deduct 100 from your deductible....up to 500.....but now i have State Farm..and LOVE them :)
depends on where you are..and rates..

William,
It depends somewhat on what you are looking for out of your insurance. If you just want the cheapest, then go with your cheapest quote.
Just be sure you know what you are getting. Sometimes the best car insurance company for one person is not the same for someone else.
More pointers and tips in the link below.

Each insurance company has different rates. It pays to shop around and get multiple quotes. Also, ask them what happens if you get into an accident. Last time I went for no insurance, I went with a carrier that had the lowest premium, but if I get into a bad accident, my rates will jump high. It's all about risk.
Don't assume that your insurance company doesn't want to fight for you for an accident. Each claim is evaluated on its own merits. I hope you didn't ask them to pursue the state of California for damaged caused by hitting a pothole.

I would say nowadays the best way to find out would be through a comparison site, fill in the one form, get many quotes, see what suits you best. It saves plenty of time.
Here's a good one to start you off, it's free.

Homeowner's and Auto Insurance?
May 01, 2009 by Living in Calif | Posted in Insurance & Registration
We've been with Allstate for home and auto insurance for over 30 years, and they have recently starting screwing with us about renewing out Homeowner's insurance. We're pretty sure they are nitpicking about things because they are not writing new policies for Californians, but are keeping existing customers for now.
Anyway, I went to the Auto Club this morning and got quotes from them for Home and Auto Insurance and their prices are much better than Allstate's.
What I want to know is anyone's experience with AAA insurance. Are they a good company to insure with, any problems, etc? Thank you for any information you can provide.
AAA offers pretty good insurance, but you can still do better. Get a quote from an Independent Agent. They do not work for any specific company so they are free to shop around many different companies for the best coverage at the lowest price. Just make sure to tell them you want both home and auto coverage from the same company to qualify for the discount. Independent Agents are listed in your telephone Yellow pages.

AAA is an agency, not a company.
You can check the rating of the COMPANY they are using, at www.ambest.com, and complaints, at your state insurance department website.
I'd also suggest, as long as you're shopping out, call a few other agents - maybe some independent agents, who can get you multiple quotes at one time.
Lastly, when switching policies, be sure to compare COVERAGES and ENDORSEMENTS, not just cost.

Cheapest auto insurance for a teen?
Sep 07, 2009 by Mike | Posted in Insurance & Registration
im 18, got a used car, and now need insurance to drive it. my family has AAA auto and if im added to that ill be paying 2k a year. i also work at target and might get a discount on metlife or travelers but i cant get quotes online and also think it wount beat the adding on plan. is there any good autoinsurance or should i just be added on parents?
if i go to the website individually i can get a quote, but my special target link and such it says i cant and need to call but its labor day
If your parents do not own the car (i.e. on the title), then the vehicle cannot be added to their insurance policy. You as a driver may, but they would likely not cover damage to the vehicle - which is the whole point of insurance.
Cheapest, can only be answered by getting as many quotes as possible. As much as I understand someone wanting the "cheapest" insurance, keep in mind, you often get what you pay for! Many big name insurance companies that offer low cost insurance, do so because they can afford to. This often comes at the expense of the insureds denied claims.
Coverage is a big issue as well. Make sure you have adequate coverage for your vehicle and state requirements. If possible, stick with a well known company and not a "fly-by-night" organization offering low rates.
To get a quote, here are a few sites.

To find your state's specific requirements, go directly to the state specific website.
