HOUSTON – The average price for a gallon of regular unleaded
gasoline in Texas is one cent more than the average last week,
according to the AAA Texas Weekend Gas Watch.
The current statewide average is $3.39. The national average is
$3.49, increasing four cents more than the average last week. The
statewide average price is 10 cents less than the national average.
The most expensive gasoline averages in the state is in Texarkana
at $3.42. Amarillo is reporting the least expensive average in the
state at $3.18 for a gallon of regular unleaded.
In recent reports released by the U.S. Department of Energy,
U.S. demand for oil is at a more than ten-year low. As reports show
extremely weak gasoline demand, refiners are responding to this
decrease in demand by cutting back on production. Lower production
output has resulted in some upward movement in prices for
motorists, but analysts say continuing concerns regarding Euro Zone
and Greek debt slowed any upward impact on prices.

How good are the AAA approved auto repair facilities?
Jan 28, 2010 by 24character | Posted in Insurance & Registration
I have to 2-3 AA approved auto repair facilities but I could never find them good. They have suggested me something which was not bad at all. How has been your experience. Please share..
I work for AAA and just want to share some info about its Approved Auto Repair (AAR) program. It was created to address one of the most frequent consumer complaints in America – unsatisfactory automobile repairs. Since the program began in 1975, more than 8,000 automotive repair facilities have been approved in the United States and Canada.
AAA AAR facilities agree to provide customers with: a written estimate not to be exceeded by more than 10% without prior approval, a 12-month/12,000 mile parts and labor warranty, the return of old parts if desired, and the right to have AAA arbitrate any dispute between an AAA member and the facility. Many of them also offer a discount to AAA members.
If you are interested in locating an AAR facility, go to www.AAA.com/repair. If you have had an unsatisfactory experience at a AAA AAR facility you should contact your local AAA club to start the arbitration process.
You can find out more about AAR facilities, what they offer members, the accreditation process and more at http://bit.ly/9vn3A8.

I encountered of Auto-Repair Fraud. Who should I contact?
Jun 22, 2007 by nena | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
This is serious, please no stupid remarks.
I live in Philadelphia, PA. My car was leaking power steering & 1 day it leaked. I took it to get fixed at AAA auto rentals & repair in Montgomeryville(Not associated w/ AAA) & the mechanic told me I had a broken steering rack & it would cost $704! I told him hold off b/c i wanted to talk to my husband 1st. My husband has a friend mechanic that said he would do it for $200! So I called him back & said forget it, I will take it somewhere else. He was really mad & said 'Fine, but it will cost you $88 for me looking at it" I said ok & picked my car up that evening. When I got it it was running beautifully!
I took it to my husbands friend & he said there is NO BROKEN STEERING RACK!! He said it was probably a loose hose & the guy must have reconnected it! So he lied & tried to scam me out of $700! Who can I write a report to in PA to get them in trouble?? I already wrote to the BBB. Thank you!
Your best bet would be to contact your states attorney general. I'm sure you can file a complaint through that office. More than likely you can do it online.

If somebody was to change auto repair shops would they be able to identify what fluids need to be replaced?
Jan 16, 2011 by James | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
If the customer did not know how much time has passed when all the fluids were replaced.
And is an AAA approved shop a good idea to go to.
If you're not certain what fluids are in your vehicle, or when they were changed last it's a good idea to do what I call a "baseline" change. That is - change it ALL so you DO know exactly what you're dealing with and when it will next require servicing. That establishes a "baseline" for servicing your vehicle. Any time I've purchased a used vehicle, the first thing I did was a baseline change. I changed the engine oil, transmission fluid, power steering fluid, brake fluid, the lubricant in the differential(s), the fluid in the torque converter...every drop of lubricant in the vehicle I could get to.
I HIGHLY recommend synthetic lubricants, especially AMSOIL products. I've used them for decades in all my vehicles.
A Triple A recommendation is a plus, but you'd need to know if the rating was current, and when the shop was rated. Call AAA to see if they have info regarding the shop. You can also call the Better Business Bureau and ask them about the shop.
