AMR's Horton Still Expects To Use $13 Billion Aircraft Funding
23.05.12
The head of American Airlines said the company still plans to use all of the $13 billion in funding provided by manufacturers through leasing deals to back last year's record aircraft order.
Tom Horton, chief executive of parent AMR Corp. (AAMRQ), said the 460-plane deal with Airbus and Boeing Co. (BA) remains a centerpiece of its turnaround plan under bankruptcy court protection.
"Our plan is to take the financing," Horton said in an interview this week, noting that it wasn't so-called backstop funding from the manufacturers, an expensive last-ditch option he described as "ugly."
Airbus and Boeing worked with numerous parties such as aircraft lessors and engine makers to organize the funding, which covers 230 planes from a total order carrying a list price of $40 billion before steep discounts. Operating lessors are acquiring the first batch of planes and renting them back to American, though terms and the arrangements for the rest of the order haven't been disclosed.

can i use an amr monster coil that fits 91 to 2000 on an 1985 bike?
May 10, 2009 by james l | Posted in Motorcycles
You should be able to, as a coil is a coil. They are not very vehicle specific. It's job is to take a low amount of current coming in a multiply it several thousand times to produce enough voltage to make a big thick fat blue spark down at the electrode of the sparkplug. Heck you could go to the local autoparts store and buy one of the "high performance" universal fit coils for that matter.

will a AMR MONSTER COIL make my HONDA CR500 easier to start?
Dec 02, 2009 by tmsiii | Posted in Motorcycles
No.Most of these so called high output coils are just 6V coils with a ballast resister, either built in or external.the reason for doing this is as you hit high RPM and your saturation time is reduced you still get full pop from your coil.At start up this can actually make the bike harder to start.Best to correct the problem that's causing the hard start.

maybe.. but if its hard to start because of petrol mixture problems better spark wont necessarily fix it..

Make sure the piston is at TDC, let the kick lever come all the back up, them jump on it.
Bike will start almost every time.
Now go drink a beer and relax.

I disagree with Bob. I can't speak as to the positive qualities of the AMR coil, but any time you can use a more powerful ignition coil, you can then widen the spark plug gap. The wider the gap, the bigger the spark is and the easier it is to ignite the fuel-air mixture, especially when the mix is one way or the other of the optimum range.
That's why newer automobiles have plug gaps of .050"-.080" compared to the old point and coil standard plug gap of .035". In an effort to reduce emissions and improve fuel mileage, the auto manufacturers had to lean out the mix (remember Chrysler's Lean Burn system of the late '70s-80's, they ran air-fuel at 18:1). Leaning out the mix made starting harder an surging after starting. To cure this problem, they souped up the ignition systems from 25,000-30,000 volts to 40,000-60,000 volts and widen the plug gaps way out. This also required plug wires to grow from 7mm in diameter to 8-9mm to keep the spark from exiting through the insulation into a nearby piece of metal.
Now, if your spark plug is new, the carb is metering fuel perfectly and is jetted correctly and the engine is in good shape, you can stick with the OEM setup. If so, putting a high powered coil on and leaving the plug gap at the factory recommendations is going to be a waste of money. To gain any benefit from a more powerful ignition, you MUST widen the plug gap. Do so and even if your bike is in good shape, it will start easier under harsh conditions and your fuel mileage may go up.

Can I work as an EMT with a point on my driving record?
Sep 28, 2008 by Roxanne S | Posted in Insurance & Registration
I just got a speeding ticket on the freeway going 91 and I know its going to be a 1 point offense. Do you know if I can still work at AMR or any other ambulance companies. I am in an EMT class right now and planned to start working as one in a few months.
Take a traffic violator class -either in a classroom or online. That will "dismiss" (eliminate) the citation. You will still have to pay the fine, I believe. It's preferable than paying increased insurance costs for three years. Most violations stay on your motor vehicle report (MVR) for 37 mos. (Yes,37 months, not 3 years!)
