Where is the drain tube for the AC evaporator on a 2003 Passat?
Nov 06, 2007 by Zach M | Posted in Volkswagen
My girlfriend's car is leaking into the footwell of the passenger side when running the AC. I believe the problem is a clogged drain tube that is connected to the Evaporator on her AC system. I know there are lots of problems w/ Sunroofs on this model, but i'm pretty sure this is the AC, not sunroof. The problem is, I can't find the drain tube under the car! Any help about it's specific location would be great.
Thanks
the drain tube is very difficult to see you have to get it from the engine compartment area down at bottom of the bulk head. also check the pollen filter housing seal these things tear and cause major problems if water gets past them vw has a campaign on that body style but you vin has to be in the syst to get replace under the campaign but all of this body style have this problem definetly check this!!!! there is a new material to use for this seal.

Check along the firewall in the engine compartment. My drain is behind one of the U shaped cut outs in the insulation.

where is the AC evaporator on a saturn sw2?
Sep 14, 2007 by Mike2250 | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
Im getting a strong musty smell when I first turn on My AC on my Saturn SW2.. Where would the evaporator be so I can clean it? Thanks!
It's a bit of a pain to get to. The smell may be mold from the moisture build-up. There are a few other things you might try before taking your car apart. First spray some alcohol-based Lysol (they have some non-alcohol ones these days) into the air intakes (between your windshield and your dash), which the A/C is running at HIGH on Recirculation mode. Do that for a while just to remedy the musty odor.
If you'd like to quickly dehumidify your car... the easiest way is to run the Air Conditioner on High with the Temperature setting on HOT... that is a good way to allow your car to dehumidify itself.
If that doesn't work, I suppose you may have to take your Saturn apart to get at the evaporator.

Good luck.

Is it necessary to service the ac evaporator of my 2000 Toyota sienna if there's no cooling problem/?
Jun 18, 2008 by asker d decider | Posted in Toyota
The service advisor at the toyota dealership recommended cleaning the ac evaporator on my toyota sienna 2000 with 130,000 miles on it.I have no trouble with the van except that it's 8 years old.Am I being set up for a ride? What benefit will the service do except emptying my wallet?
OK.
There are two coils in your A/C System.
One is the Condenser, it is in front of the rad, it CAN get clogged with dirt, bugs, etc...
Second is the Evaporator, this is somewhere in between the dash and firewall of your car.
I can't see the Evaporator being dirty, I've taken lots out, and they've never seemed dirty enough to warrant cleaning them.
If, on the other hand, you're talking about the Condenser, then it could be dirty, but you could just take a garden hose and spray it down, after all, it should be in plain view when you pop the hood.
Just my take on it.

no benefit at all, dealer just wants your money, evaporator coils hardly ever get dirty, hope that helps.

Evap. cores can get clogged with bugs and mud. This will decrease the performance and cooling of the refrigerant.
Open the hood and look at it. It's right behind the grill.

How to remove the ac evaporator of a 1997 toyota corrola station wagon?
Jun 10, 2007 by lonewolf87 | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
links to pictures may help if available.
This is a tough job - I know I did it on my Saturn.
All cars are pretty much the same these days. You need to pull apart enough of the dash to be able to access the HVAC module. The Heat/Vent/Air Conditioner module houses both the evaporator and the heater core. You may need to remove the heater core to get to the evaporator. The evaporator will be plumbed to the AC system with piping. There will be connection(s) at the firewall with o-rings to seal the connection(s). You need to disconnect this connection. If the system is already empty you need not worry about Freon escaping but if the system is just low it should be vacuumed out rather than let the Freon escape into the air. Once disconnected you can remove the evaporator and repair or replace it. Assembly is the reverse.
Just a note: this is a MAJOR job. It took me two days doing it out of my driveway and I took photos so I could remember how much work it was. Why are you looking to remove the evaporator?

What is the purpose of a radiator hose and an AC evaporator?
Jun 21, 2008 by J.me | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
I need to know for a drivers ed project.
Thank you.
I suggest you put your question in the search for questions space, because its already been answered numerous times. I did find all kind of answers to AC evaporator. You should be able to find answers in greater detail than I can answer them. The radiator hose simply is a conduit to carry coolant to and from the radiator to the engine.
said the work "involves cleaning your blower, cleaning your evaporator coil and cleaning your condenser." These AC components become clogged with dirt,
Now's the time to prep air conditioner for summerBut just because the weather can change from cold to hot like the flip of a switch, it doesn't mean that we should just start using the AC without some
