Major League fielders at the new Marlins Park can field sharply hit balls along the coral-reef line.</p><p>About 80 reef fish will swim in each of two unique saltwater aquariums installed near the infield of the Miami Marlins new home stadium, erected on the site of the old Orange Bowl.</p><p>"Aquariums behind the plate don't exist anywhere," Marlins President David Sansom says in a videotaped interview. "That screams 'Miami'."</p><p>The twin tanks -- each 22 feet long and holding more than 450 gallons of water -- are not directly behind home plate but flank the first- and third-base lines near the team dugouts.</p><p>Living Color Aquariums of Fort Lauderdale installed and maintains the tanks. Living Color has done installations at several major Florida theme parks and resorts.</p><p>In the Keys, the firm built the large saltwater tank at the World Wide Sportsman in Islamorada and the lobby tank at the Hilton Grand Key Resort in Key West.</p><p>Porkfish, a fish commonly seen at Keys coral reefs, will be among the most numerous residents of tanks, said Francis Yupangco, Living Color marketing director.</p><p>"A lot of the porkfish were bred in a University of Florida aquaculture facility," Yupangco said. "We try to make it as environmentally friendly as possible." Other species familiar to Keys divers include tangs, surgeonfish and angelfish.</p><p>Some fish may have been collected in South Florida but whether Keys fish are in the tanks could not be determined.</p><p>"It's a mix of native Floridian species along with some colorful Indio-Pacific species to keep it nice and bright," Yupangco said.</p><p>Corals seen in the tanks are artificial "museum-quality replicas" made of cast urethane and epoxy.
Living Color says the tanks have been heavily engineered to withstand hits from foul balls and missed throws. The acrylic tank walls are shielded by a bullet-proof Lexan plate with an air gap to absorb shock.</p><p>However, using live fish in a field display does not sit will with animal activists.</p><p>"I don't think it matters how many shock absorbers they put in," said Don Anthony of the Animal Rights Foundation of Florida. "With thousands of people screaming, fireworks and music concerts going on, certainly that disturbs the fish. I expert there's going to be a lot of trauma and dead fish."</p><p>Dynasty Marine of Marathon, one of the Monroe County's leading marine-life firms, has supplied reef fish to Living Color previously but is confident that none of the fish in the Marlins Park tanks came from them, said co-owner Ben Daughtry.</p><p>"I'm surprised some people are making a huge deal about this," Daughtry said Thursday. "There are fish tanks in night clubs all over the place, and they do fine."</p><p>"I can see where there may be some disturbance" to the fish, Daughtry said, "but few people realize how harsh the real world is for wild animals. There's a tremendous amount of predation out there."</p><p>A professional pitcher throwing directly at the empty tanks and a pitching machine were used to test the system "without leaving a mark," according to Living Color.</p><p>An elaborate system of filters maintains the tanks' water quality, and covers keeping them sealed from debris and field chemicals. A lighting system mimics natural light but can be adjusted to minimize the possibility of distracting players.</p><p>The Marlins' regular season opens April 4, a day before the rest of Major League Baseball so the new $634 million stadium can be showcased.

And into this sad world of washed-out cowboys comes Marilyn, still the hapless not-too-smart beauty, a sensitive girl who has been hurt and responds to their pain. At first she brings a ray of joy and hope, helping to fix up their broken-down shack, making it feel like a home. And then she decides to go out on a round-up with them. And she actually sees what they do: scare frightened wild horses into running into their trap, tying them up and sending them off to be slaughtered.
She senses the horror: these beautiful wild animals, mare separated from colt, to be killed and chopped up. This senseless slaughter for a few dollars a load seems, to her, metaphor for all the senseless cruelty of life, and she goes wild with shock and anger. Her aging boyfriend cannot understand her, but she determines to free the horses.

Monroe Max-Air shocks?
Oct 16, 2009 by Robert | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
i found a pair of some old school monroe max air,air shocks, im gonna put them on my v8 vega,, i was wondering if anyone knows from experience hoe they perform?? are they decent shocks?? OR are they CRAP? i think they look like decent shocks!
As long as you properly install them they work great. Be sure the orings in the air intake lines are good. Be sure not to over inflate the shock. I think 120psi is max.

Air adjustable Shocks for MPV. Would they lift up the rear? Gabriel or Monroe?
Aug 26, 2010 by johnnycurious | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
My 95 Mazda MPV with rear leveling system needed new shocks. I went to a local shop and their computer showed Monroe Sensatrac shocks. They are the simple ones that don't hook up the self leveling system. So, I bought those and installed in my MPV. But, the rear of my van is still riding low and I can feel the impact over bumps and potholes. I went to the Monroe website and according to the item number of the shocks (37075), I got the right ones for my van, but the rear of the van is still riding low. So, the shop won't exchange them for any other ones, so I'm left with buying a new set. Just by looking at the van parked, you can tell that the back of the van is lower than the front.
Would buying Air adjustable shocks lift up the rear of the van to be level with the front and fix my problem? Or are they not designed for that? I'm not looking to hook them up to the self leveling system.
Which is the better choice between Monroe ($75 a pair at Kragen) and Gabriel ($60 a pair at Autozone) for Air adjustable? They both seem to offer limited lifetime warranties. Thank you for any help.
These new shocks aren't used for self leveling so I did not connect them to the system on my MPV. But, these are the shocks that the shop I bought them from and Monroe website say will work for my MPV. According to the part number, these are the correct ones.
Obviously your self leveling system is not working. Do the shocks you installed have a connection up top to hook air lines? If they do all you need is the air line kit. If not I'm afraid you'll have to buy new ones I prefer monroe shocks just make sure air line kit comes in box with them, make sure to read instructions and don't over fill shocks when adding air

99 ford explorer shocks
Aug 05, 2008 by thashit21 | Posted in Ford
i have a 99 ford explorer and i tow with it quite often. i have monroe max air shocks and it turns out one went bad after only 6 months. so my question is what are good rear shocks for towing? a stiff ride does not bother me at all.
Try Heavy Dudy Shocks
Good Luck.

i would replace the blown out air shock and then inquire about putting an air bag system on the truck to help with towing. these are more reliable than the air shocks.

what is the cheapest way to replace my air ride from my 92 Lincoln continental?

some guy sed to get "Standard Monroe Gas Shocks" he sed thats the cheapest possbile way is this guy telling the truth or is it just a hoax
I had a beautiful '93. I loved that car. Until the ride went. Invested $1700 and that didn't fix the problem. '92 and '93's were notorious for this problem, and I was told it might be something minor, like a computer chip, or I might have to invest up to $2,000 per tire to bring it back to perfect. But they wouldn't know until they tore it apart, at $150. per hour. As long as they had it apart, they should do the work if I had 8K, or I could pay $150 per hour to put it back together, until I could save the rest of the money. It was also suggested I just have regular shocks installed, but there is no place on that frame to bolt them. I ended up letting it set for a few months, and finally selling it for $200 just to get it out of my yard. What a beautiful car it was:(

What kind of shocks should I get for my '94 z24 Chevy Cavalier?

I've been looking for shocks for my car for a little while now since the ones on there are blown due to age. My car is a daily driver. I've been looking at RockAuto's selection which is larger and cheaper than AutoZone's. I've checked on some sites and they've recommended using KYB GR-2s for my car.
What brand should I go with fo shocks? I'm looking at the KYB GR-2s and Monroe Sensa-Trac. I have Gabriel struts in the front which was a mistake but they came new and free with my car at the time. I'm much more focused on the shocks right now. I'm avoiding anything to do with air adjusting shocks.
The KYB GR-2 is a very good replacement and should give you good service. The monroe are okay but we quit using them because of to many problems. I have use them on all of my vehicles and most last more than 6 years with no problems.
It has a set of 4-1 headers, a 2-inch straight-through exhaust, OE replacement Monroe gas shocks with King springs, and a 23mm front sway bar, but that's about it. I am a big fan of old-school JDM wheels. It is currently on 13×6-inch Advan A3A,
