JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. A Missouri Supreme Court decision earlier this year regarding taxes on motor vehicle sales will likely cost St. Joseph and Buchanan County around $550,000, collectively. A bill that passed both houses of the Legislature seeks to restore that funding. House Bill 1329 was one of the last legislative issues taken up Thursday morning. The bill found wide approval, including sponsorship from the Republican budget chairman and co-sponsorship from the Democratic minority leader. The bill works around the court ruling that said collecting sales taxes on vehicles bought out of state is unconstitutional. R.T. Turner, presiding Buchanan County commissioner, said if the governor does not sign the bill into law, the county would lose around $250,000 of its approximate $5.5 million in general revenue. St. Joseph Mayor Bill Falkner said the loss in city revenues would likely exceed $300,000. It would be a huge deficit, he said. We would have to look

Is yahoo a third party auto sale transaction dealer?
Jul 14, 2010 by Brad | Posted in Buying & Selling
Want to buy a Jeep from Craigslist and seller wants my name, address and number so they can submit it to yahoo for the transaction. Is this legit?
Email them back and tell them you would rather deal with Ebay Motors because of their 7 day inspection and free shipping . . . .
JUST KIDDING. Don't Do It. Obviously it is a scam. Why would you even want to purchase a car without test driving it? Probably because the ad has it for a fraction of what book value is, the car's in excellent condition with very low miles. That's how all of the scams on Craigslist are. Unfortunately many people do get suckered in by it.
Email them back the address of the White House, 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW. It's funny when they actually send you the fake invoice. I do this at least a few times a week because I always try to get the scammer to wire me money. Sometimes they go as far as to call me an a--hole.

When have you ever seen Yahoo advertise their financial escrow service?
How about NEVER? It's because they don't have one!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's a SCAM, you retard!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
STEWIE | Jul 14, 2010
The jeep doesn't exist. Its priced far too low and yahoo doesn't do transactions like this. Did you miss the WARNING in HUGE LETTERS at the top of the page on craigslist ?
OFFERS TO SHIP CARS ARE 100% FRAUDULENT

In Texas what is the law for allowing Auto Dealers to transfer auto contracts to a 3rd party financier?
Apr 03, 2008 by Love to Love | Posted in Buying & Selling
I went to a dealer who does not require credit, provides in house financing and usually works well with clients. I did this because I wanted to work with someone that I could walk into their office and make a payment. I have had problems with financiers stating they lost a payment when I show the payments were cashed. Boughan Auto Sales of Austin, TX on Burnet Rd transferred my contracts to Excel Finance company and of course as all finance companies do they are trying to change the terms of my contract. What can I do or what laws out there protect me?
When I told him that I was going to ask my attorney about the legality of it he became very hostile in tone. Initially I only mentioned the attorney because I wanted him to take me seriously but after his reaction I became to think that maybe I really have a legal point. What do You think?
Whatever you originally signed is what you signed....no changes should be made or allowed!!!
Dont let them sucker you into that....the first sign of them trying to do so is them getting hostile when you mentioned an attourney!!!

Do the auto dealers need a sale?
Apr 06, 2009 by WD16 | Posted in Buying & Selling
I have been shopping for a month for a car, every dealership I go to is business as usual, I don't get it, I want to find a good deal but you have to pull teeth to get a deal, even on financing. I want either a 2008 Mazda CX9 Grand Touring or a 2007 or 2008 Mercedes R Class. I almost think they are so desperate to make a big profit they will not work with you. Any Thoughts? I live in St. Louis, Missouri.
I understand that dealerships need to make a profit but, the buying experience is no different, you have to go through the "Let me check with my boss" routine, and it takes hours to buy the car. I just wish they would put their best foot forward and mark the car so we can just purchase it without the games. As far as the gentlemen who mentioned GM loosing money on cars has not worked, FYI Mr. Smarty, they are loosing because of design, innovation, bad management, overpaid workers, too many dealerships, bad deals with suppliers and a host of other things. I would suggest in the future if you answer a question that you try and help the person asking, we are not looking for jerks like you to make comments just to gain points.

Used cars are in high demand right now. Its the new market that needs buyers. You could get a good deal on a 2009 Mazda if you wanted the Mercedes are always expensive.

Your expectations may be unreasonable. Sure all auto sales are down, many dealers are willing to accept offers they would not normally consider. But they aren't going to lose money just to make a sale. That just isn't going to happen.
The price they pay for the cars hasn't gone down. In fact used car prices have gone UP because of the depressed new car market. More people are turning to one or two year old cars as a way of getting a good lower priced vehicle. This has kept the price of used cars high and in many cases has raised the price of used cars.
You could probably buy a brand new 2009 CX9 for not much more than the price of that used 2008 and get a better finance deal in the process.

Really?
Losing money on vehicles hasn't helped GM as of late...

On a bill of sale from an auto dealer, what is a processing fee?
Apr 06, 2010 by Gerri W | Posted in Buying & Selling
There is a charge on the bill of sale I received from the dealer for a processing fee. What is this? any way to avoid it? what is being processed for $500????
the dealer is responsible for many things, but chiefly, among all others is processing money from your pocket to his, this is intensely time consuming as consumers get smarter and smarter, I would go down to the dealer on the next nice sunny saturday morning, stand in the show room and start jumping up and down and yelling about that five hundred dollar processing fee, and just watch the people vanish, the squeaky wheel gets the grease in this case the more of a stink you make, the better chance of getting some processing of your own. also watch out for fees like ADP this stands for added dealer profit, some dealers are more greedy than others do what you think is right
