New-car sales in the Mahoning Valley were up almost 30 percent year-to-date at the end of June, compared with the same time last year, according to the Automobile Dealers Association of Eastern Ohio.
Sales in June alone also were up 18 percent compared with June 2010.
Chevrolet models Cruze, Malibu, Equinox and Silverado 1500 were the top four models sold in the region.
A total of 200 Cruzes were sold in June, up from 107 sold in May, despite there being no incentive packages on buying the car.
“Right now, it’s not about the rebate or the incentives,” said David Sabolsky, general sales manager for Spitzer Chevrolet in North Jackson.
Spitzer sold 74 vehicles last month, an increase of nine from last June, and its total sales for the year are up 44 percent.
“GM is just a superior product right now,” Sabolsky said. “Build a quality car, and that’s what people have always wanted.”

What incentives do auto dealers get from car manufacturers like GM and Ford? How are these deals structured?

What incentives do auto dealers get from car manufacturers like GM and Ford? How are these deals structured? Do the manufacturers gives the dealers a percentage of each car sold? Do they give them some kind of money back guarantee or what?
There are inventory incentives, dealer-only incentives tied to volume and other spiffs. Dealers don't get a percentage from the manu except under employee pricing programs.
Simple research will provide current incentives. See kbb.com

do car dealers and auto repair shops usually add engine flush to remove oil gunk from the engine?
Jul 18, 2010 by . | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
When doing an oil change?
no.
but most engine oils now advertise having additives that remove said gunk and sludge.

it's a con most modern engines don't react well to engine flush and the flush additive has to be added a day or two before the oil change to work well if flushing oil is used again it has to be put in a day or two before a change, if you use top grade (especially synthetic) and change oil regularly flush is unnecessary

That is normally how it is done yes. However, a shop should ask you if you want them to do that, not just go ahead and do it anyway.

Not without good reason. If you have a sludge problem, do it. If not, that acid may do more harm than good.

Jan 05, 2010 by KaP | Posted in Buying & Selling
I checkec my credit score and I currently have a score of 535. Is it possible to obtain a in house dealer loan with a credit score of 535? I hade a local Chevy dealership call and say I was pre approved but I don't really want to waste my time....
Financed cars is more expensive to insurance cause it requires full coverage. You can compare how much you would pay for full coverage of this car using this tool - carquotes.sinfree.net

Unfortunately, you will have to go in and see what will work. There is much to be considered, how much you make a year, how long you've been on your job, how much you're putting down, if you have a trade in, if you owe money on it, if you've had any recent repo's... oh the list goes on and on. It depends on your state as well. I moved from New York (where even 630s are hard to get done) to North Carolina where I've surprisingly seen 490s get done. Also, it depends on who ran your credit. Often, a business sees a different score then when you buy your own credit report. I'm sorry, but you really don't have a lot of options other than fidning someone who will work hard for you to get you approved.

Who governs used car auto dealers?
Aug 31, 2007 by heatheer | Posted in Insurance & Registration
I satisfied my lien and 3 months later he has not taken his name off of it, and is playing games telling me that people broke into his shop and stole titles.
Then he should apply for a lost title, and get you a new one.
Sorry, I don't know who governs them but you could call the local police and tell them your troubles, and they can tell you if any police reports were called in on this business.
If they have no report, there was no crime. If there was no crime, the used car place is perpetuating a fraud, and needs to be reported.

Should auto dealers stop giving away their new cars?
Nov 26, 2008 by Donny | Posted in Buying & Selling
It seems that since 9/11 the new car auto dealers have been giving away their cars and the manufactures have been offering 0% financing. This has forced a buying market to keep the economy going. This must have not been a great idea because of the situation they are in now. Maybe we should just pay a little more....
Their problems are caused by poor quality, expensive union contracts and expensive retirement benefits.
