America's next great storyteller is a New York used Audi salesman
13.07.11
Mr. Barry, our esteemed dealer principal, and resident village idiot bought this car last night... and today we had to open an hour later than usual because he was bragging about this incredible 2008 Audi A-6 Avant, luxury wagon and we had to research all of the option codes. I mean this baby is looooooooaded with an original MSRP of nearly 60 (gulp) thousand dollars. Night Blue with Beige premium leather... then it has option wxp1 a wood and leather steering wheel ... that looks sensational. Then it's got option blank blank for rear and side sunshades, premium leather, technology package and rear camera, premium package, Bose Audi even Audi Care which is prepaid scheduled maintenance. Enough... but not enough for Mr. Barry... he says it has the 18HGL Package that is a $2495 option. We're looking and we're looking and can't find the option.. and oh by the way the price of this Avant is $42,495 so all of a sudden $38,995 with all this and Audi Certification looks like a deal. So after two hours of mumbo jumbo, Mr. Barry comes clean..sorta. He admits that he's at his vacation home in Hilton Head, S.C. and he runs into an Audi Vice-President(no names, please). Mr. Barry buys him a round of golf... the Audi Exec wants to show his gratitude... his brother in law is turning in his one of a kind Avant wagon, and Mr. Audi wants to direct the car to Mohegan Lake. Great.. nice touch, OK. Nope! Mr. Barry decides that after his last encounter with the nice people at the IRS when he tried to deduct his vacation home as a used car facility, he's going to wise up... he'll just make up an option and put it on a loaded loaded car you can't find anywhere... 18HGL... 18 holes of golf, plus dinner, plus airfare, plus car rental, plus plus $2495, and pocket the money. So after we threaten to turn Mr. Barry into his good friends at the IRS again, you can now buy this impossible to find luxury wagon for $38,995... now a steal.
NATICK, MASS. (07/13/2011)(readMedia)-- U.S. sales of Jeep's iconic Wrangler surpassed the Ford Explorer in June and interest is on the increase worldwide, meaning Jeep may soon have to worry about demand outpacing supply, according to a report by the Toledo Blade. Luckily for Massachusetts Jeep fans, local Jeep dealers like Brigham-Gill Chrysler Jeep Dodge still have a ready supply of Jeep Wranglers on hand.
U.S. sales of the 2011 Jeep Wrangler are up 15 percent year-to-date compared with the same period in 2010, which includes a 27-percent increase in June sales. Those impressive numbers will likely soon be complimented internationally as the Wrangler benefits from the recent refranchising of Jeep dealers in Europe, the land that helped make the name Jeep synonymous with rugged dependability during World War II.
"Massachusetts drivers have loved the Jeep Wrangler for a long time now, and the rest of the world is about to catch on," said Richard Gill, owner of Brigham-Gill Chrysler Jeep Dodge, a Greater Boston Jeep dealer. "That is going to place a lot of pressure on the Toledo, Ohio assembly line that produces the Wrangler, but I'm sure Jeep will come up with ways to increase capacity."

Wrote a check at a local dealership for a car canceled check now dealer is threatening to suit?
Feb 13, 2010 by steve | Posted in Buying & Selling
Never signed papers, never took posession of vehicle. Canceled check after notified dealer I couldn't afford vehicle.
Car dealerships, ha! They are the scum of the earth in my book..never been treated fairly by one in my life, ever! Check with your states Attorney Generals office about your state laws regarding car purchases. Some states recognize a deposit made as a "verbal agreement" and you stand to loose your money even though you did not sign a contract nor took possession of the car. If the dealer were decent, he/they would work with you on this and let you out, but in these economic times, that probably will not happen. Again, Google your state laws about these things or make a phone call. Hopefully all will work out for you. Good luck.

No papers signed no proof you agreed on terms. Why the hell did you give them a check?
Charles s | Feb 13, 2010
You bought a car and then decided you could not afford it and then canceled the check. This is fraud. You should have given more thought to it before making the deal.
Otto | Feb 14, 2010
Sure they are. You committed fraud. You can't just cancel a check because you wanted to back out of a deal.

Im assuming they did the old "can you put money down so we know your interested routine"
So if you just gave them a check to show interest but haven't signed any loan paper-work yet I dont see why they would of even tried cashing the check

attempted to purchase a car with 8K down, dealer has car back, and his check to us bounced what do I do now?
Jul 27, 2008 by Edith P | Posted in Buying & Selling
Purchased a car from a local dealer, we purchased the cancellation contract too, we cancelled the deal and was refunded the money in a check, the check has bounced, we called the dealer and am now being told come tommorrow, for a cashiers check and the day comes and they put us off for another tommorrow what can we do to get our money
I've been down this road before. Go to the next appointment and just hand out an ultimatum. Tell him unless he gives you the money with in a certain deadline you will have to contact the authorities because your looking at theft. Keep all the paperwork you have, don't give him anything he could destroy to save his ass and make sure you document everything he and you say and keep anything he may hand you, also contact your bank and get a physical receipt of the bounced check. It may seem like a lot of work but trust me, if you write it all down and you have a paper trail the police/court will have an easier time getting your money for you. Also if you do have to go to the police, keep anything they hand you too, also get the names and badge numbers of the police officer/s involved. All this will make things MUCH easier for you in the long run.

Call your local authorities to file a complaint. You can also call the Better Business Bureau. Also you can take them to small claims court. It will cost you a few hundred up front but you can sue for what he owes for the car and your legal fees.

im buying a cat c car with f/s/h, 12 months mot & full service from a local car dealer?
Aug 27, 2007 by ireallyhatemanutd | Posted in Buying & Selling
I've ran a check and its had 2 owners, was registered in March 2000, then was written off as a cat c in dec 2000. its done 51,000 miles and looks in top nick, will the fact that its a cat c affect my insurance? has anyone else bought a cat c car? Cheers
It will put the insurance up as it's seen as being at risk of structural failure.
But with the right insurance company this shouldn't be too much of a problem.

Use car dealer reviews online?
May 31, 2009 by One hot chick | Posted in Buying & Selling
I am looking to purchase a used car and want to check to see how my local dealers rate with customer reviews to try to ovoid the rip off artist. Any suggestions?
should I buy a previously owned rental car?
Nov 26, 2008 by Stosh | Posted in Buying & Selling
Some of my local dealers are selling cars about $10,000 less than new for minimum mileage cars but when I check with Carfax, it says rental owner. Does this scare anyone?
Thanks.
Car rental companies have an image to uphold in order to maintain their business of RENTING cars, so they do exert some effort in keeping their fleet polished and detailed. As a by-line of keeping their fleet attractive and competitive, they always have new cars available which means surplussing last years models to a wholesaler. I seriously doubt any car from a fleet rental agency ever had the hood raised except for the absolute minimum in maintenance. As far as repairs, they would rather sell than invest money in a piece of equipment that is going to be out of their inventory within 24 months. You can get excellent buys from rental surplus, but I would buy from the agency itself. If this is a second-party seller, let the buyer beware.
