Classic Car Auction Returns to Suburban Collection Showplace
Have you always dreamed of owning a certain classic car?
This April could be your chance to buy that special one you've been drooling over as the Novi Metro Detroit Spring Classic Car Auction comes to Suburban Collection Showplace .
The auction is being presented in collaboration with the Classic Motorcar Auctions (CMA) from April 21–22.
Car collector enthusiasts will have the opportunity to bid on over 250 antique, classic, muscle, sports and special interest cars and trucks. Plus, a large selection of automotive memorabilia, petroliana and toy car collectibles will be offered to the highest bidder.
Record crowds are expected to attend the event, and attendees will be traveling from various parts of the United States. For more than 10 years RM Auctions spearheaded the auction at the Suburban Collection Showplace, and now the auction will return with CMA after a two-year absence.
“When RM Auctions produced the auction in the past, the organization always did a phenomenal job, and we want to continue that great tradition of offering the most rarest and desirable vehicles ranging from the 20’s up to the early 80’s,” said Blair Bowman, owner of Suburban Collection Showplace, in a press release. “We are looking forward to this year’s event with CMA and we wish RM Auctions the best in all of their endeavors.”
Classic car auctions breaking records
With investors uncertain about where the real estate market is heading, and whether the tumultuous stock market has settled down, more and more people seem to be parking their money in classic cars.
This past weekend’s McCormick’s Collector Car Auction in Palm Springs saw record crowds and record revenues. This is a continuation of upward trends seen at the McCormick’s auction, now in its 26th year of operation. In 2011, the company’s sales were up 30 percent, to $11,645,439. The company’s previous auction, last November, sold 550 cars for a total of $5.89 million.
This past weekend’s car sales at the auction included a 1960 Chevrolet Corvette which sold for $65,000, a 1940 Cadillac convertible which sold for $68,500, and a 1969 Ferrari, which sold for $100,000. McCormick’s website lists complete details and final prices on the cars which sold.
The trend is similar to auction prices seen earlier in February at the prestigious Scottsdale, Arizona auctions. There, a 1955 Mercedes-Benz Gullwing sold for $4,620,000.
