The company, based in Rye Brook, N.Y., was recognized by both Deliotte & Touche and Inc. magazine as one of the fastest-growing software companies in the country. In July 2011, WHI announced that its Nexpart eBay Link solution allowed its customers to create more than one million automotive parts listings on EBay Motors, consistently ranking as the first or second most visited automotive site on the web, according to digital market intelligence firm ComScore.
EBay noted that with WHI it gains access to enhanced structured data that will enable EBay Motors to improve parts selection and value for customers while enabling parts retailers, distributors, dealers and manufacturers to reach more customers. EBay said it plans to expand its catalog from auto replacement parts to specialty equipment to meet the needs of customers. While no one from WHI or EBay offered additional comments on the acquisition, EBay reported that

Ebay Motors?
May 21, 2008 by JH | Posted in Boats & Boating
I found a car on craigslist, but the seller wants to sell it through ebay motors. the car is in idaho. should i trust the seller or look for a new car?
Tough question. If the seller is specifying the only means of payment he'll accept I would avoid it, especially if you have offered alternative means you trust. Surely this isn't the only car you can find to meet you're requirements.

never buy a car that you have not seen and inspected no matter where you buy. why would you pay money for what may be a junker or could have been in a flood.
Winnie | May 21, 2008
I have bought several cars from E-bay, and a few (boats also) I found on craigslist. I have only had one problem from an E-bay seller and that was with a bad title. It took a bit to get that resolved.
I have also sold on E-bay and offered to return the selling price if the buyer isn't happy. They would have to pay for the listing fees though.
Buying this way is tricky. If the car you found is a "one of a kind" or a classic, it may be worthwhile. If it is a "regular car" (for lack of a better description) you should be able to find one close enough where you can go see it, test drive it, smell it and so forth.
The reason the guy wants to sell through E-bay is probably due to E-bay's buyer and seller protection plans. If you buy through E-bay, then welch out on the deal, and have used pay-pal, or another E-bay type payment, they can come looking for you. It is kind of a "sellers protection plan">
Were I you, I believe I would keep looking.

ebay motors???
Jun 25, 2008 by Patrick F. | Posted in Ford
is ebay motors a safe website to buy a car on??? cause im looking at one but it looks unsafe. an almost perfect 1969 mustang for $5000. yea, lil 2 good 2 b true
Buyer beware. I bought my car off ebay and I'm very satisfied with it -- but I went to see it before I started bidding on it. There is SO much that is under the surface that you need to look at, particularly vintage iron.
You need to be experienced in the cars your buying sight unseen so you can ask very pointed questions and talk over the phone. Those kind of people are unphased by the "2 good 2 be true", they can weed out fact from fiction.

the old saying: "if it looks too good to be true, it probably is." sometimes you can find great deals, but you need to know what to look for to avoid getting scammed. i've never bought a car off of ebay motors, but everything i've ever bought from there has come perfectly

My best advice is to never purchase a vehicle off of the internet. I did it before and got screwed. If you can't go "see it", "drive it", "don't buy it!"

Look at their rating. I doubt that it is perfect for that amount. I would get a independent third party inspection from someone of your choosing and don't tell them the price you are going to pay. If the seller refuses, then you know the car doesn't exist.
I have purchased a $75K car off ebay and a $17K Motorcycle and never had a problem. Lucky I guess...

What percentage does ebay motors take from your sale?
Oct 29, 2009 by Sam | Posted in Buying & Selling
Say I accept a bid of $23,400, what percentage will ebay motors take from that?
They don't take percentages on car sales.
You pay a flat fee of $125 plus any optional services you used.
If it does not sell, you pay $0.
STEWIE | Oct 29, 2009
nothing. They charge you for the listing of your car it is not percentage based.
Mark | Oct 29, 2009
You pay a flat fee for the listing. It is $125. You have "options" of extra services. You pay for the "options" whether the car sells or not. If the vehicle does not sell there is no charge for the basic listing.
