If you are not doing anything wrong, you have nothing to worry about.
Every day I see in my job, cars, trailers and motorbikes that have no current rego.
Some are expired just recently, ok, give them the benefit of doubt, they might have forgotten or maybe its been budgeted into next weeks pay.
But I also see plenty that are well over due with expired WOF's.
Just this evening saw a Mitsu L300 Van with children unrestrained in the back, rego expired early last year, the WOF sticker expired late 2010, all 4 tyres were bald, one head light was missing, one was angled up, both front indicators were smashed, body parts and some of the windscreen held together by duct tape.
Ask yourself, do you want this car being involved in a accident with you? Chances are, the driver/owner has no insurance either. Do you want to be injured and off work because of this moron. Would you like one of your kids or family killed because of the poor condition of that van.
A little stream-of-consciousness today, letting the observations tumble out as they come:
Question from my friend Ed , formerly homeless, now happily housed (not at taxpayer expense):
Ed: How come the recycle bins on State have those triangles in the top? They’re too small to fit a pizza box through! And what triangle shaped products go in those things anyway?
Me: Shhhh! Don’t ask those questions! City Hall will hear you, and invent some new position, or, God forbid, an entire department, that will be in charge of Finding Triangle-Shaped Products To Put In City Recycle Bins. An expensive study by exorbitant consultants will ensue, followed by a proposed ordinance banning trash that’s not triangle-shaped. There will be packed, heated hearings. The Democratic Party Central Committee will issue an official position that the Cans Not Be Changed To Accommodate Actual Trash, But Rather The Public Must Buy Triangular Items To Go In Them. Daraka will do a press conference, denouncing anyone who does not believe triangle-shaped products are the wave of the future as ‘Tea Baggers’. The issue will then be kicked to the ballot by the mayor, because we’ve got to make hard choices here…

How to free a seized engine?
Aug 01, 2009 by dman | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
If the engine is not seized should I be able to push the car in reverse or first gear? Can you free a seized engine by rolling it down a hill in neutral and popping it into first gear?
It is too hard to push a car in first or reverse gear, even second gear. If you think that the engine might have seized, then try this. You can do little more harm.
Take out the spark plugs. Add half an ounce of diesel to each cylinder and leave to soak for 24 hours. This will lubricate the bores and, hopefully,
might assist in freeing the engine.
Place the vehicle into third gear and coast down hill, and when enough momentum is reached, release the clutch.
Good luck on that one, but You might have already screwed the bores.

A seized engine, no. If you mean a seized gearbox, yes, it's possible. What happens is that a thin film of rust forms, attaching the gears together. You will know if this is the case because the car will start, but you will not be able to change gears while the engine is on. It is possible to fix this by selecting first gear when the engine is off, then starting the car in first gear. The car will lurch forward, and if you then keep pumping the clutch, you ought to be able to pull the gear lever out of gear. Test it in different gears to check that you've sorted the problem. Obviously, do this in a safe area, where you're not going to crash into anything. You will have to stall the car to stop it if this doesn't work, so do not do this anywhere that it could cause a hazard to anyone else. You ought to be able to fix this within about twenty feet, but leave yourself at least 50 yards, so you have enough room to stop the car if it doesn't work.

Hard to push a car in low gear. Try it in 4th or 5th.
There you have the mechanical advantage. The engine is then direct drive or under-driven making it easier to turn.
Be careful, if the engine is seized, then driveline damage may occur.

Pour Marvel Mystery oil into sparkplug holes, let sit for at least a day. Try turning main crank pulley with breaker bar. I did this once and it ran fine.

Sorry man there is really only one answer to this question. You CAN NOT free a seized engine unless you rebuid it.

I want to buy a seized government car?
Sep 12, 2006 by black beauty | Posted in Buying & Selling
I keep hearing about how you could get good prices on cars almost 90% off the retail value by buying them from a seized car aution. I checked out some websites, but all of them had some type of member ship fee. I don't want to pay for some thing and get a crappy listing of old cars or car autions. Is there any way I can go straight through the government to find where they will hold these type of auctions?, or at least a free website.
Im not sure on this. I was looking for this as well. Whatever you do DONT GET A MEMBERSHIP WITH A FEE. It could and proably is a hoax. A lot of those sites arent even updated. My suggestion is look in the paper for upcoming auctions. Be careful on seized cars though because some might have a fat blood stain in the back. Or bullet holes.

See the web site link below. It has some of the information you want about seized car auctions.

well you need to go to the auctions and some are on line. There is fees for all of them thats how they get money. The more it costs the more the fee. that covers taxes and title transfers too. Just make sure who they are before you pay anyone on line. Some are also dealers only. Try and find one around your house and go see what its like thats the best way. look on your phone book for one.

A couple of suggestions.
1. NEVER pay a fee to a web service that claims to provide info on purchasing government seized merchandise. This info is free if know where to look.
2. Visit the Government auction sites frequently, they change fast and you have to be on top of it.
3. Most Government auctions require that you physically attend the auction and have the required deposit at the end of the auction.
4. You'll be required to take possession of and remove any item you buy within a specified time, usually 36-48 hours. If you don't remove it you lose it and your deposit.
5. Make sure you various government auction sites. There's a lot.
6. Start by going to www.firstgov.gov.
Good luck

The lock cylinder for my driver door is/has been seized up. How do I free it up or fix it?
Apr 06, 2010 by Daniel | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
I have a 2002 Chevy Avalanche and I can't get in through the driver door when it's locked because the lock cylinder is frozen up. Last time I had the door panel off, the components didn't look too corroded either. Also, the truck came with a keyless entry remote, and I still have one, but the car can't be programmed. It seems like it wants to when going through the steps, but MAYBE (I'm not sure) maybe the lock being frozen shut keeps it from being programmed?
Thanks,
Dan
Most vehicles with keyless don't get used much and can freeze up , I'd first try flushing the lock assembly with WD40 or such then spray in some graphite and exercise the locks
Fire1427 | Apr 06, 2010
Have you tried putting powdered graphite into the lock? Powdered Graphite is incredible for locks or fine moving interior mechanism. Just a thought for you to try.
