Annual gas price hikes came earlier than usual this year and hit San Diego especially hard. The average price for a gallon of regular unleaded fuel in San Diego has increased by 24 cents since the same time last year, resulting in some of the highest gas prices in the nation according to the AAA Automotive Club of Southern California Daily Fuel Gage Report. Average prices recorded in February and March are approaching the county’s record high of $4.63 for a gallon of regular gas dating back to June 2008. The issue is also statewide, as California has one of the highest gas prices nationally, second only to Hawaii and Alaska.
Gas prices across the U.S. have been following the same trend and there is no guarantee price hikes will stop.
A variety of factors at home and abroad have led to the rising prices drivers are seeing at the pump. As tensions with Iran continue to drive up the price for oil, speculators are becoming increasingly uncertain of the state of future supplies. Additionally, a recent refinery fire in Washington state further hurt supply.
At a mere $3.99 a gallon for regular unleaded gasoline at this particular BP, it could have been worse. At a BP station across town, at the I-75/Northwest 39th Avenue interchange, the price of gas Tuesday was $4.15 a gallon.
In a recently released AAA gas report, the average price for regular unleaded gas in Florida was $3.936 a gallon and in Gainesville it was $3.976. Jessica Brady, AAA spokeswoman, said prices aren't expected to drop anytime soon. In fact, she said, prices are expected to rise with the summer driving season around the corner.
Hesser, a junior at the University of Florida, said while gas is this costly, he isn't filling up as often.
"I'm waiting 'til my gas is empty-empty," he said. "It's really depressing to see it fill up."
Michelle Stephey, a senior at UF, said she drives 10 miles to work from her residence on Sorority Row. She said she can't really give up driving her car regardless of how high the price gets. She said it's a fluctuating thing that she just has to deal with to get around town. Be it errands, events she has to attend or her job, Stephey said she tries not to think about how much her next tankful will cost.

Mar 22, 2010 by Jessica | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
i want to go on a bike ride but they are a little flat, and i havn't even used one of those things before so i figured i would try and do it myself.
so instructions?(: thanks!
ok on the tire there is a nozzle maybe with a little cap. open it up to reveal a little metal piece where the air goes in. Then take the pump and attach the plastic air nozzle to the tires air nozzle. then secure it on and start pumping

very easy just clip the air chuck onto the valve stem and pump some air into it , do not over fill or the tube will blow out Pump some air into it and check the air pressure , then you are set to go riding.
TL | Mar 22, 2010
lock the air connection to your tire valve and pump away.

just "PUMP" it.

bigger grocery stores and convenience stores sell a product called fix-a-flat for under $5 as long as the bead is sealed on the tires rim you simply attach the hose on the can to your valve stem and press the button it`s compressed air and sealant should get you to the nearest repair shop and make sure you tell the tire man you put that stuff in there because it is a flammable compound , detailed instructions are on the can, but yes autozone sells a small air compressor for about $30 that usually comes with a cigarette lighter plug or color coded alligator clips that attach to the battery terminals (+) red (-) black if the bead is separated from the rim you cannot possibly inflate the tire

Can you use a home air pump for your car tires?
Nov 10, 2007 by zaggittier | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
The type of manual air pump that is for basket balls, air mattresses or air beds.
You can ues a home air pump only if you have a valve stem attachment, and about a min. of 150lb. of air pressure most basic home air compressers range from $50.00 to $2000.00.
And most are avalible with valve stem & ball attachments. Check auto part stores, and hard ware stores for the best compressors. As well as best price.

no you cant the amount of air pressure inside the tire is greater than the amount you will be trying to put in the tire, and you,ll only wind up loosing more air from the tire, you need at least a good bicycle pump for this, good luck,
dodge man | Nov 10, 2007
yes, but you will dye before you get to proper pressure of the tire because it will be tought to push down the plunger
irish whiskeyhammer | Nov 10, 2007
Probably, if you have the time. It would be much quicker to change the tire and drive to the shop.

i want to buy a air pump for my car so i can pump air to the tires...?
Apr 11, 2008 by cutekums | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
i want to know what brand is good and cheap in Canadian tire.
Air pumps are in most stores for $10 to $15....but
For $30 to $35 dollars you can buy a battery booster box, to jump a dead battery....most all have air pumps built in them these days.
Then I would buy a Air Tank from Wall Mart or Target usually $15-$20 bucks....and will air up 2 flat tires on a tank of air.
Or you can top off tires all year with a tank full of air. If you have a "Battery Booster Box" with the air compressor you can air up your tank as you drive some where.
With this equipment in the trunk...you can overcome most common problems.
If you have a leaking tire the pump will not fill it up, the tank will in about 15 seconds and you can drive on a leaking tire usually 15 minutes or so....and air it up again to get to a tire repair place without hassle.
Give it some thought....this is what we do every day to get cars in the shop. With out tow trucks.

How do you use air pumps for your car's tires?
Sep 02, 2008 by Mike-Q | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
I've only had a car for like 5 months, and one time I tried putting air into my airs at the gas station. I dunno if I was doing it right. Do I have to pull the little trigger on the pump? Should I be able to hear any noise while putting air into the tires? I bought a tire pressure gauge so I'll know what the tire pressure is.
Go to a full service tire shop and ask the man if he can show you how to take a tire pressure reading with your gauge and how to add air.
Most tire shops worth a darn will do pressure checks for free as a service to customers or potential customers. They can also advise you on what pressure you should be putting in, as it varies with the car, load and tires.
Autochannel (press release)Honestly lets throw these morons in a car, jam a knife into the side of one of their tires and lets do it at about 1 am on the south east side of Detroit on 75 and see how useful the air pump is. I guess you could throw it at the guys who are going to Chevy Cruze Eco Dumps Donut, Gains Mileage – Would You buy?all 38 news articles »
When air just isn't good enoughNASCAR teams aren't the only ones to pump up their rubber with pure nitrogen. The gas is also used in bicycle tires on the Tour de France, in Formula 1 car tires, Space Shuttle orbiter tires and some aircraft tires. But why nitrogen?
Under-inflated tires can lower gas mileage. / Katie King / kking@pnj.com Not everyone can afford to replace the family vehicle with a hybrid or electric model, but there are still things you can do to save at the pump. Michael Nelson, the automotive
I didn't think of it then but 17" tires are cheaper than 18" tires. Granted while it might just be justifying my decision to buy a base the S didn't feel that much more special to me. Certainly not $7K or $8K more special.
There was a time when gas was nineteen cents a gallon, air pressure was checked in tires, the windshield cleaned without asking and all performed with a friendly smile. Those days are pretty much gone. Gas is $4 a gallon and the rest is either
