Camaro crashes into swimming pool
PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. (WSVN) -- A driver is OK after losing control of his car and plunging into a family pool.
Monday evening, the Aguilera family arrived at their Pembroke Pines home and found a 1968 red Chevrolet Camaro inside their swimming pool. "Two tires sticking up. Two tires," homeowner Bertha Aguilera said, as she described the scene.
Firefighters said the driver of the antique vehicle lost control of the car, possibly because the accelerator got stuck. The car went on a crash course: It went off the road, and then jumped an embankment, crashed through a row of bushes, a fence and a patio screen before it landed upside down in the pool.
Residents nearby came out to the scene, some with cell phone cameras, to get a closer look at the damage. "He jumped out of the vehicle before it went through," said neighbor Kimberly Lafauci, "so he was quite the Dukes of Hazzard, I guess."
The Aguileras are glad the driver is OK. "[It was] scary for the guy that crashed here, and scary for anyone that could have been here," said homeowner Roland Aguilera. "They could have gotten hurt."
